The only problem we ran into was when we turned the water on in the sink and tub it started out muddy and brown. It continued that way for about 5 min. To the point where we were going to ask switch rooms. It was pretty gross.

Overall a nice hotel and a nice stay. The one complaint - after driving all afternoon and most of the evening, all I wanted was to check in and get a late bite to eat and a beer with a buddy. Front desk said bar/restaurant was open until 11:00pm which gave us thirty minutes to drop our bags in the room and get back downstairs. Walked in bar/restaurant at 10:45 and were told bar was closed. I pointed out other patrons sitting and drinking/eating. "You can get something to eat but no drinks." So we got back into the car and went to a local restaurant.

I have relayed this information to the Food and Beverage Manager and he is deeply disappointed and hopes that you will accept his sincerest apology. The bartender fell very ill near the end of her shift and had to leave abruptly. I am not trying to excuse the failure to provide exceptional service only to shed some light on the server’s hesitation to provide drinks. This was not handled appropriately and it is being addressed with the staff member to ensure this does not repeat. I had a very nice stay at the Charleston Plaza Hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean as well as the shower was good too. There was no breakfast included with the room however they did have a restaurant on site for between $10 and $15 you could buy breakfast. They also had a shuttle going to downtown Charleston for $10 however I did not take advantage of that I just drove my car. Parking in Charleston can be difficult.

Decent hotel for a decent price. It is about 25-30 minutes from downtown (which was a negative for us), but it is very close to Tanger Outlets, a Regal Cinema and lots of restaurants, so that's nice. The facilities are nice, and they even have an indoor heated pool during cooler seasons.

On check in we asked for a room away from the noise of the Interstate. The attendant agreed. Instead, we were given a room closest to the Interstate and had to put up with the noise all night. Otherwise the room was average. They did offer a good breakfast in their restaurant. The buffet was about $12 each or you could order off the menu. It was open for breakfast and dinner only. TV reception was below average and they offered no premium channels. Wallpaper coming loose in men's room off the Lobby.

Overall I am very disappointed with this hotel. The shower curtain was completely disguising. In the morning the water turned completely black. I will never stay here again.

The hotel is not as close to the historic district as I had originally planned. It has been renovated, but the bathroom in the rooms are still old. The bathroom was not clean on arrival and needs major improvements. I was shocked that this was the condition of the "club floor" top suites.

Location was good. Convenient to downtown area and Mount Pleasant. However, check in was very slow because the staff was overwhelmed with people checking in and phones ringing. They put the phone calls ahead of customers checking in.

The in room a/c was loud and came on about every 30 sec. To a minute. It was advertised about a courtesy shuttle ride to down town. They left off the five dollar fee per person to go one way and another five dollar fee per person to come back to the hotel. The front desk was informed on my disappointment with the room during check out. They stressed on the hotel going under a complete renovation this summer. I refuse to go back to this hotel! I forgot no small fridge in the room; not good.

I have confirmed that Expedia, as well as, our hotel website have the correct information stating complimentary shuttle service is limited to the airport. We are happy to provided scheduled service to the downtown area but must charge a nominal fee. Our $10 roundtrip fee is a great savings when compared to the fees for taxi service. In addition, we have upgraded rooms that have both microwaves and refrigerators that are available upon request. The first room I was placed in had brown water and the shower knob did not work and the water in the tub was not going out of the tub. The second room I had the water was brown, but after running the water for a minute or so it cleared up. I later found a letter stating why the water was brown. I DID NOT like the fact that these rooms have NO SMALL refrigerator for the price they are charging each room should have a small refrigerator in it. I will NOT be staying back with them.

This was just an overnight getaway for my husband & I, we enjoyed the hotel indoor pool & bar, the bed was the most comfortable ever Only complaint was the cab fare to go downtown was outrageous

Some of the "oldness" of the Charleston Plaza Hotel has to do with it's charm but it really needs TLC. Having the handle missing from the nightstand drawer diminished the charm. This hotel is crying out for remodeling; it is not competitive with newer hotels. The heated indoor pool was perfect. The business center had no available computer. No refrig in the room. No complimentary breakfast and the breakfast was only available till 10:30 am. Our 5th floor room had slow draining sink and tub, yuk.

In the bathroom the shower dripped all night. When the housekeeping brought new linen in we did not receive washcloths. The only thing that really had me was at check out I was informed that I was charged for a local call. It was only a dollar but I work hard for my money and If I knew that I was going to be charged for a Local call I would have used my cell phone. I asked how i was suppose to know that I would be charged for a call and they flipped in their book and said it was charged wheter it was local or long distance. Ok, how was I (the customer) suppose to know. It was not listed on the phone or in room. Noone could answer and I just left.

This was probably a very nice hotel at one point in time. Although you can tell some things have been updated, it is in desperate need of a makeover. The stopper in the bathroom sink was broken and the wallpaper was peeling. The room itself was very dusty and all three lampshades were broken.

The hotel room was not properly cleaned, we found trash from the last person on the floor in the bathroom and by the bed on the carpet. The staff was quick to apologize and fix the cleaning issue when I notified them. You have to request a microwave and/or refrigerator if you want one, they are not in all the rooms.The paint in the bathroom was peeling and there was mold in the bathroom vent. The hotel could use some cleaning and repair. If you are traveling with pets, look for a different hotel. They are not as pet friendly as most.

I was unaware that I needed a credit card for incidentals. I didn't have one and had a little bit of cash that I had to leave a minimum of $25 or I couldn't check in even though the room was already paid for AND non refundable. I didn't understand why they couldn't use the card that was used to book the room. The room was okay, a little small and dated. Upgrades would be nice. There was visible water damage on the ceiling. I didn't like that the room didn't have a refrigerator or microwave. We had to cut the air unit off to sleep because it was very loud. I didn't notice until the next day as I was making sure that I wasn't leaving anything that there were candy and receipts under the bed and under the night stand. The receipt had an August date. I hope it wasn't under the bed since that time. My daughter used the courtesy shuttle to the Convention Center the next morning and she said that the driver was friendly and it was on time. No complaints there. When I checked out, Doris was not very friendly. She never acknowledged me with a good morning or hello and seemed too preoccupied with whatever she was doing to fully give me her attention. I didn't think that was too professional. Overall, my stay was okay. I probably wouldn't stay here again though.

The only impressive part of the hotel was the nice lobby. While the desk clerks were helpful and courteous, the hotel itself offered little. Our room had no heat or air .... had to have maintenance come and hook it up. Restaurant and food service: terrible. High cost, poor service. Your hotel made Best Western look glamorous.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. As soon as we saw this ugly building from the major highway out in nowhere we wanted to turn around and go elsewhere. The lobby looked fine but it went down hill from there. The bar was just okay but the restaurant was very uninviting with extremely slow service even with it being empty. The room was too small for two adults with a terrible view overlooking the rooftop of mechanical equipment. Worst of all was the very outdated toilet that was so low to the floor that even a 30-year old would have problems getting up. The swimming pool with no jacuzzi was not worth using. The hotel staff would now allow me to cancel my reservation so we had to just suck it up. We thought that nothing else could go wrong since we were checking out early the next morning to get to the airport, but we were wrong. I had to call down to desk three times to get the airport shuttle schedule and they gave me the start and ending times, but failed to tell me that it leaves every 20 minutes. This detail was important because not knowing caused us to miss the first shuttle bus, and the next bus was late arriving at the hotel from the airport so I had to beg the desk clerk to call the driver, twice. We nearly missed our flight home, but I tipped the driver, anyway. My recommendation to everyone is to pay more to get a better hotel. The name Charleston Plaza Hotel sounds like a fancy name, but this hotel is far from fancy.
