"Not what was expected"
The first problem we had was not receiving the type of beds we reserved. We reserved 2 double beds and were given a king bed, and they were totally booked and had no other rooms for us. We were not able to change on the second day of our stay either. The second problem we had was dirty sheets. Not just stains on sheets that you know have been washed […] and couldn't remove, but hair and dirt that should not be found in "clean" sheets. After calling the front desk to ask for new sheets, we waited 30 minutes and then had to call again. After an additional 15 minutes they brought the sheets, which we had to change, and they did not provide us with new pillow cases. "Great Family Hotel 30 min from Boston"
We were five and got a room with two double beds and an additional rollaway bed (+25$). Free WLAN was included. The room was great and furnished nicely. A little crowded with the rollaway, but still fine. The breakfast was really great and had everything, plus it was included in the room rate for the five of us. They had everything, including a station […] were omlettes and other things were made freshly from scratch. The staff was really friendly and nice. The pool and hot tub were also good, only the showers and locker room could use some renewing (we decided to change in our room rather). The location is convenient close to I95 and a short distance to I93 that brings you right into downtown Boston. Parking on the weekend is from 10 (closer to Boston commons) to 18 $ per day, closer to the aquarium. The parking garage directly at the aquarium is 36$ a day (and 18$ for the first half hour), with a 10$ rebate, if you get validation from the whale watching ticket booth. Public transport by bus and train to downtown Boston is also possible at 4.50$ per person, however, takes between 70 and 90 min and only runs once every one or two hours, depending on time of day. My stay was a total let down. I rented this hotel through expedia to stay for two nights during the Boston marathon. A regular room with two double beds was 218 a night... I decided to go with a bit more expensive of a room to pay 275 a night so I could have a free breakfast and concierge Service included to help me out since I'm traveling with a toddler […] and infant. When I got to the hotel they switched me to a double bed, which took away my concierge service and my free breakfast. This lead to me having to lug everything myself up 5 floors from a parking lot to my room with a infant in car seat and a toddler. Then the morning of the Boston marathon they told me my breakfast wasn't included anymore and I needed to show then my online reservation saying it was which I didn't have time for that morning so I had to miss breakfast. Then that night I showed them my reservation and how it included concierge and breakfast and they tried to compensate my wasted 50$ from the first day by offering me two bottles of cold water! I said no thanks and they decided to offer me one free movie rental and my free breakfast the next morning...which, duh I was paying for anyways so it was no favor.... so basically my compensation was a free movie rental for my additional 50$ I paid for the first night staying there. My room also wasn't very clean. It was loaded with wrappers under the beds and the ceiling paint was chipping off. The walls are pretty thin too and the indoor pool looks very dirty. "Fancy but Lacked Conveniences of Cheaper Hotels"
The hotel was definitely a classy place. Giant lobby, very well maintained, and overall the scenery felt very fancy. We arrived very late in the night due to car troubles, and the staff was super accommodating. We stayed at a cheap motel the night prior to arriving at the Marriott, and as nice as the Marriott was, in comparison it just felt a bit lacking. […] There was no refrigerator, no microwave, no hairdryer, the bathroom was very small and had no fan (it felt like a sauna in there!), and the internet rates were ridiculously expensive so we didn't use the Wi-Fi. These are all accommodations that cheap motels often offer for free, so staying at a nice place like the Marriott, it felt kind of odd to be without them. Overall it was still an enjoyable stay, so if you don't care about any of those things you'll still like the hotel. The Burlington Marriot is a great bang for your buck. The price we paid included a full breakfast, parking, and free wifi. The wifi being only so, so.
