We booked in slightly later than normal meaning that, I assume, our room was given to someone else and we were 'upgraded' to another room but this time a smoking room - the whole floor smelt (being a non-smoker) kept the windows open constantly! The hotel is used by Heathrow staff, its far enough away to be undisturbed by planes but not by their staff, so its pretty busy at most times of the day. The nearest underground station is Gloucester Road, about 30 meters around the corner, lots of pubs nearby and mini-supermarkets. Not a bad place, nothing fancy, no disturbances, just wish we would have had a non-smoking room.

The registration desk personnel said one of the members of the party had not checked in yet, when they had. We wasted hours of precious time. Otherwise, the people were nice but just didn't know how to read their computer program (or didn't care to help us.) All in all, we liked the hotel and our rooms.

Biggest complaint is that rooms are somewhat small, especially for more than 2 people. Good service and cleanliness. Peter is an excellent concierge. We really enjoyed the complementary bottles of water, tea/coffee, orange juice and KitKat bars in our room. There is a convenient supermarket a block away on Gloucester Rd.

Perfectly functional and CLEAN, albeit without frills or charm. Very much appreciated the in-room electrical outlet which eliminated the need for a converter. Didn't try any of the onsite restaurants/pubs. Location was key; quick 4-minute walk to tube made getting out and about incredibly easy, as well as returning late after a long day of sightseeing (as a previous poster noted). We were a party of three adults and although it was a pretty tight squeeze, we were fine with the double bed and pull-out sofa bed. In-room fridge and hot water heater with tea and instant coffee were nice little touches. Highly recommended for good value and as a base for trekking all about London. The Gloucester Road tube station is right on the Picadilly line, which goes directly to Heathrow airport -- it was approximately 40 minutes each way. If you take the tube to/from Heathrow as we did, you'll save loads by not paying for a cab but be prepared to lug your luggage up/down stairs in the tube stations. Enjoy your trip!

Check in time was given as 2pm. Due to full occupancy the night before there was a one and a half hour wait for our room to be ready. Once we got our keys we were pleased to be given a non-smoking room. It seems totally archaic that hotels still offer smoking rooms! Room was clean and had tea/coffee making facilities and some free toiletries. We were on the 19th floor and it was quiet aside from traffic/train noises. As it was winter we were not so bothered about not being able to open the windows for air. This may have been an issue in summer. This hotel is one that I would chose to stay at again. It's location is ideal for trips into the West End (just 5 tube stops away) and it is within walking distance of the Natural History Museum, the V&A, Science Museum, etc. There were many foreign tourists at the hotel as well as cabin crew in overnights. Customer service at the hotel was as expected in London - ie. nothing special! The one TERRIBLE aspect about this hotel is the attached restaurant. The service was slow, the meals were below average and it was over-priced. There are many restaurants and cafes just two minutes walk from the hotel so use those instead!

We stayed at this hotel years ago, before it became a Holiday Inn, so we chose it this trip primarily for its location, and because we knew they could accommodate 3 in a room (two adults, one teen). The room was a bit cramped, but perfectly adequate for the 6 nights we were there. Quite clean, and the bed and the sofabed were both comfortable enough. We were on the 3rd floor, facing Cromwell Road, so we did pick up a bit of trafffic noise, but nothing too terrible -- and it died down at night after 11 p.m. or so, so it was never a big issue. We did not dine at the hotel, so can't comment on the restaurants or food quality. Our only (minor) problem was that housekeeping seemed to be unaware that there were 3 people in the room and repeatedly left only two towels, two cups, etc. We had to call or leave notes to get the extra items, but they were at least prompt in delivering them. The location, just a block or so away from Gloucester Road tube station, is ideal, and there are a number of small eateries in the vicinity. Considering that we booked this hotel on rather short notice, we feel that this was a great place to stay and the rate was reasonable. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to friends.

Because they serve large groups (airline flight crews, tour buses, cruise lines) check-in is slow, slow, slow. People who arrived before 2pm were sleeping in the lobby because they couldn't get into a room. Breakfast is overly expensive and not good. I wouldn't recommend dining at the hotel in general. Get out and walk and you wont be disappointed. This is my 2nd stay here, the 1st being a purely business trip. I'd return, though only when I want a great location and value.
