My wife and I figured to splurge a bit upon arriving in Japan for a two week vacation. Spent the first 3 nights at the Keio Plaza in Shinjuku. This was a great choice! Having lived in Japan for 5 years, I was prepared for the small rooms, etc. but the Keio's rooms are spacious and the view is fantastic. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from Shinjuku station and located in a great neighborhood. Pricier than a 'Business Hotel', but well worth it as you recover from a long trip.

This was one of three hotels I stayed at in Tokyo and was by far the best in terms of service and location. The staff were polite and very helpful throughout our stay. Being almost next door to Shinjuku station and it's several JR and subway lines meant getting around Tokyo was very easy. The room (in the South tower) had a great view of the city, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government offices in front, and Mount Fuji in the distance, visible on a clear day. The room was very clean, fairly large and comfortable. I didn't try any of the restaurants in the hotel, but did spend an evening in the Sky Bar, which had great views of the city. As mentioned before this was the best hotel I stayed at in Tokyo, and I don't think the location can be beaten.

Very conveniently located a few minutes walk from Shinjuku station (2nd largest of Tokyo, direct line to Narita airport) and right next to the Government building! This is perfect as the marathon starts right there. so you can go drop your bag at the starting line and go back to the warmth of your room instead of waiting too long outside ! However, this is not the most modern hotel i ever stayed at and was a bit disapointed for the quality of the room and its general feel. I was clearly expecting more for a 'Deluxe room'. Had access to the lounge on the top floor with free drinks and snacks, massage chairs, and a very helpful host. However, the Plaza Comfort room in the South Tower, while a good size for Japan hotel, is a bit dated. The walls are a bit thin as we heard people talking and sneezing in the next room. The Keio Plaza hotel worked out well for my vacation stay. It is a 5-10 minute walk to the subway and JR train station. If you leave from the back of the the hotel near the Tokyo Government Building you can take the underground way to the station. A pleasant surprise was a coupon provided upon check-in to use the Club Lounge during our entire stay. From 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. we could get complimentary beer, wine, water, sodas, juice, and snacks. The Club Lounge was on the top floor of the South Tower where we stayed. The staff at the lounge was friendly and always replenished the drinks and snacks. There were even massage chairs to use with a great view of the city. The only complaint was that our room was too warm. Housekeeping explained that the heat was not controllable and that the air conditioning could not be turned on. However, they did provide a fan within minutes. The fan made the room comfortable. The price was good through hotels.com. Other guests (on the same floor)we spoke to staying on corporate rates were paying at least $50 more per night.

The Keio Plaza was an awesome hotel, as long as you upgrade to one of the premier rooms. We had two rooms for three nights, and it was a great choice. The hotel is located close to the Shinjuku train station, and was very easy to find (English signs are posted everywhere). Once we got their, the staff was very courteous. They checked is in quickly, and then escorted us to the room and showed us some of the features of the room (weird I know). But the room wasn’t just a usual hotel room. It had bedroom controls for the lights and shades. There were robes and slippers in the closet, which was huge. This is definitely a western style hotel, lots of room and great views of Shinjuku! Again, that was for a premiere room. We saw a non-premiere room, and let me say, it is worth the extra money (definitely worth it). I would definitely visit here again though. The price wasn’t bad either, as compared to staying in downtown Chicago for a night it would have actually been cheaper for the service we received. If you are looking to stay in Shinjuku, you can’t go wrong with the Keio Plaza!

We booked two rooms, one for ourselves and one for our three "kids", ages 21, 20 and 18. We are farily well traveled and enjoy staying in nice accomdations while on vacation. All 5 of us agreed, unanimously, that the Keio Plaza was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in as a family. The staff were extremely accomodating, the room service was excellent, the rooms were tastefully decorated and surprsingly, very spacious, the views from our rooms were absolutely breathtaking, and the convenient access to the subway, located just outside one of the hotel's side entrances made getting around the city an absolute breeze. The downside of the Keio Plaza is that the food in the hotel restaurants is way overpriced. Luckily, the hotel is just a stone's throw away from a myriad of affordable restaurants (some of them with very nice ambiance)featuring all kinds of cuisine (i.e., Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Italian, French, Jaimacan, et al)...the other downside of the hotel is the television selection. Although we spent very little time in the hotel during our 8-day stay, a microwave and satellite t.v., which provides a greater variety of news channels, would have been nice. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would look forward to staying at the Keio Plaza if we were to return to Tokyo.

The hotel looked good at the first sight. Hotel boys were very helpful and took our bags straight away and even helped us to book the tickets for the coach to the airport. When we came in I saw a man arguing and asking about main manager and then I thought sth is wrong. We arrived at about 23:00 and after 11 hr flight we just wanted to go to bed, but we?re told that the room with queen bed booked by me 1,5 month before arrival isn?t available as they?re fully booked. Hello?!! We paid extra for a big bed and now they tell us to sleep on two separate ones. I noticed one guy next to me talking to other receptionist about getting different room for some reason. After 20 min, we were told that we will get better room that we?ve booked. I'm sorry but it wasn?t our fault that they didn't have our room available. The room was ok, for them it was a 5star apartment but after seeing hotels in Sydney and Melbourne this one was small size and not a proper apartment but it had double bed. And the condition wasn't 5 star as well. It looked new but there was a big stain on the carpet in the middle of the room so I don't know why hotel boy insisted on wearing sleepers all the time. The good thing was a heated toilet seat and the room was clean excl. stain. We were waiting 30 min for the bags because someone just forgot and they?re brought after my phone call. This is what tired people need after a long flight. So maybe hotel wasn't that bad after all but next time I will book something else.
