The hotel is located on the East Side in midtown around the corner from the Waldorf Astoria and Benjamin Hotels. New York is a 'walking' city, so this hotel is great for getting to the UN, Central Park, Madison and 5th Avenue shopping, Rockefeeler Center, Radio City Music Hall, etc. Clean, good service. Cons: Too easy to hear guests next door.

Excellent spot for Thanksgiving. Short walk to the parade route. Hotel lobby had a traditional Thanksgiving buffet. Short walk to Rockefeller Plaza to see the Xmas tree and to Radio City to see the Rockettes and the Xmas Special.

"Fine, despite UN General Assembly mayhem"

Was very happy to find a last-minute reasonably priced room here during the UN General Assembly in September. It was very convenient for that, but also right at the center of the mayhem (security checkpoint with metal detector out front etc.) Rooom was comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel was very nice with a great lobby atmosphere, but who really stays in their hotel on vacations anyway? The location was FABULOUS!! We could walk anywhere and never even used the Subway.

It was a great hotel except for the bathroom. You needed to be a contortionist to reach the toilet paper and with the main shelf directly above the toilet, you had to be very careful to put the lid down each time you used the facilities. Also...as someone who is a bit shorter than average, the fixed shower head offered up some amusing anecdotes concerning becoming intimate with the far wall in order to complete the bathing process! But...I would stay there again with no qualms!

We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night for a weekend in NY. It was within walking distance of everything we wanted to do (Times Sq, Library, Radio City Music Hall, etc.). The staff was helpful, and the lobby was a great meeting place (large with lots of seperate seating areas).

great for the money, especially in midtown manhattan. would have expected to pay more for this caliber of hotel - much fancier than i expected! the beds are soooo comfortable, like waking up in a marshmallow :)

"My room reeked from smoke"

Despite the fact that the hotel management told me that all of the rooms in the hotel were non-smoking, my room reeked of smoke. When I woke up in the morning, it felt as if my lungs were filled with smoke. What a terrible hotel!

Our stay at the Barclay was very nice. The hotel is conveniently located to major attractions such as Rockefeller Center. The concierge was very helpful in finding good restaurants and museums. The room was nicely decorated and was kept very clean.

The price was reasonable for a night in New York. My expectations were a little high since a friend said the Intercontinental was a nice hotel. I reserved a double bed room, and at check in I was told that I made the reservation for a single bed room. There were no vacancies so they could only accommodate a single cot. It bothered me that the my reservation was incorrect and it was annoying to hear the customer service rep say it was essentially my fault. The bathtub was lined with mold. It smelled bad and was disgusting. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lots of noise from the windows on the street and furniture needs a remodeling. Was expecting a better quality like ... towels were very old and bad wireless connection. At the end not too bad for the price i paid (on sale) but i wouldn't pay the whole price to stay there

Don't pass up this hotel. Great location, very clean, good amenities. I had no street noise and even though I stayed there for just one night, I was very impressed with the overall quality. The deli across the street has a good lunch buffet and outstanding sandwiches.

I have stayed at the Barclays several times before and I have stayed at many Intercontinental Hotels in the past including Rome, Singapore, Beijing, Houston among others. This past stay ranks as the poorest service and quality. To start, there was no hot water for practically an entire day. No efforts were made by management to extend some form of compensation. They left a flyer at the front desk apologizing for the inconvenience and that it wasn't their fault. Other negatives included constantly being served in filthy dinner ware (usually a dirty glass, once was a drink with an insect in it). Again, no efforts were made to extend any form of compensation. Just a sorry coupled with some excuse. Bottom line, poor service, average hotel, high price.

This is a great hotel for the money. The rooms are decent sized--especially for Manhattan. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful--a concierge spent several minutes giving me a crash course in the New York City subway system. The hotel is within walking distance of Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, and Broadway, with the closest subway station two blocks away. We stayed at this hotel because of a conference being held in it, but would definitely stay here again if looking for a hotel for personal use...

Parking too expensive but the hotel room was excellent.
