amazing! great pool, spa, the best. The only problem was the first day we ordwered tea in the tea room and the waitress brought us a tea pot with no lid. When we asked her why she said, "we lost the top!" She didn't know not to use it and no one there advised her otherwise.

Service was very poor for a 5 stars hotel. They did not inform us about the services or facilities there. The instalations are a bit run down.

I gave this hotel very good marks, because it is a very nice old hotel and the staff was wonderful. Even given those facts, it was not worth the huge price. I expect something truly spectacular for that kind of money...like more room, a lounge area, maybe a fireplace. This room was just nice. I can get that anywhere and for a lot less money.

We had a nice stay - staff attentive & friendly-enough (not super helpful however). Don't pay extra for the river view - they neglected to tell/show you in their photos that construction is occurring at the bridge right on the river in front of the hotel - a view of construction cranes was not what we had in mind. The rooms were nice, but sparse and […] strangely, poorly lit. Very comfortable beds, with more than enough pillows. The bathrooms were wonderful - rain showers, deep soaking tubs, separate water closets, luxurious towels - terrific!! (Perfect after all that walking as the hotel is farther out than it seems from all the attractions.) Room service was also great - prompt & delicious! The hotel was quiet (now we were not there during the day, so I can't comment on any river/construction noise.) Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, luxurious decor, very pricey for what it is. Room service, dining and drinking are very expensive too. The cosy swimming pool and gym are free. Do not touch the mini-bar ! Always be prepared to walk in Amsterdam, it's the best way to see the city and meet it's lovely people. Staying at this hotel you need to walk a little […] bit more, it is not central, but on the other hand you get the peace and quiet. If you want to treat yourself go for this hotel, room only, as there are plenty of cafe's doing breakfast at a great deal cheaper than any hotel. Nonetheless, Amsterdam is a superb city, away from the tourist parts there are some lovely art and pottery shops. A must go to is the Heineken Experience, a great hour !! Red light district is safe and not to be missed. Great shopping to be had, again not cheap. Enjoy yourself if you go and please show some respect to the locals as they are the nicest people you will want to meet. Read more
