First of all, I have to say that I really hate to leave poor reviews but when a hotel is unresponsive, it is kind of unavoidable. The doorman WROTE our room number IN BALLPOINT PEN on my beautiful designer leather luggage tag. I was horrified to say the least. What kind of person does that? You'd either have to be really clueless/oblivious or not care […] at all - not sure which is worse. I tried to reach out to the hotel but to no avail - auto response said they would get back to me within 48 hours. it's been a week. SECONDLY, when we ordered a margherita pizza before checking out and received a pizza with arugula - no tomatoes. We were in a rush so we were unable order another. While our room was pretty nice, I'm not quite sure I would return again because of my experience. Read more

The hotel was pretty pleasant and the room was spacious and comfortable. The choice of scent in the lobby was a bit strange. It was nice to have a fairly late checkout and a real tub to unwind after an overnight redeye flight. The included breakfast was quite enjoyable, as well.

I stay at this hotel often. It is well located near my office and I like the Mayfair neighborhood very much. The rooms are comfortable and I'm happy that wifi is free rather than the outrageous charge that most nice hotels add. I highly recommend this hotel.

We have stayed in 5 star hotels and this is not one of them. It is a nice hotel in a great location but does not provide 5 star service at all. Actually, there isn't much service at all. At least 3 to 4 times during our 7 night stay we had to ask for extra towels because there weren't enough towels in our rooms. Our daily rate included breakfast and […] afternoon tea. Breakfast buffet was wonderfu, and is well worth the extra money. The afternoon tea was just okay, nothing wonderful to talk about at all. We are American and have stayed in London before at other hotels that provide much better service for less money. The May Fair Hotel had excellent accomodations, service and location. The room size was good and the bathroom was well appointed with a free standing shower and a bath tub. The location was an easy walk for me to go to Hyde Park/WInter Wonderland, Harrod's, the V&A Museum, Picadilly Circus, etc. The hotel was next to a "staging street" for the New Year's […] Day parade, which was nice to see without having to fight the crowds along the parade route. My room was not noisy on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. My only suggestion would be to make sure non-smoking rooms are in separate corridors from smoking rooms (or separated as much as possible), because on my last night there was a group of heavy smokers who checked into the room next to mine and the smoking was so bad around midnight that the hotel staff moved me to a different room. The only drawback about the hotel is the room temperature, I had to keep the windown open to keep the room temperate not too warm since it was maintained centrally and not from the room itself.

Beautiful hotel in a nice area. Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff. My only complaint does not have to do with the hotel directly, but I was surprised by the panhandlers on the corner very near the hotel that we had to deal with on the way back to the hotel every evening. Actually the first time that I have stayed here (or frankly knew it was there). Great location and overall fantastic atmosphere. Rooms are cool and the staff very welcoming. Previous reviews focused on the noise in the corridor but cant say that this was an issue - would definitely stay there again.

Nice Staff running this hotel. Our room was ready when we arrived which was a blessing. We have stayed here before and rooms can run small, but this one was perfect. Always love that there is a grocery across the street and Starbucks steps away. Perfect location, very quiet, and good for informal meetings. The rooms are well equipped with ironing board, etc. which is very helpful and convenient. WiFi is free, fast and easy to login. Right across the street from a Sainsbury's grocery store and literally there is are three Starbucks one block in three different directions.

BEWARE OF SMOKING. The hotel is in a great location in Mayfair, near the Green Park tube station, walkable to Trafalgar square/Covent square. My wife and I had only 1 major criticism and I felt it's worth letting people know. We stayed in a Deluxe King NON-SMOKING room, which for the first day smelled fine. But the next day after we got back from touristy […] things the room completely reeked of cigarettes as if 10 people were smoking in our room. I opened windows, asked housecleaning to spray the room without success, and decided the only way it can come into the room is through the vents. I asked to change rooms but they didn't have a deluxe king available until the next day. That evening a horrible hotel alarm went off at 5am which scared the bejesus out of us, and as it turned out someone was smoking in a non-smoking room which sets off the hotel armageddon-like alarm system. After we finally switched rooms (day 3 out of 4), the new room didn't smell like cigarettes but the bathroom reeked, especially when you turned the water on. We didn't want to spend our vacation moving rooms and we decided to suck it up, but neither my wife or I smoke, I get allergies and she's pregnant so if you find you have a sensitive nose to cigarettes, beware of this issue when you decide to stay here. Throughout the process, they tried to be super accommodating and appeared genuinely concerned about the issue so i feel bad knocking the hotel, but it is a problem. Read more

Hotel is located close to Picadillay Square, about 10min walks if you dont stop along the way to look at all the shops. Also close to Chinatown, subway,Starbucks and there is a grocery store across the street. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Great hotel in a great area. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The room was a little spartan for a luxury hotel, but I think that was just a difference between the US and the UK. Overall, it was a great experience and I will stay there again.

very nice hotel in great location for site-seeing (once you find it). requested early check-in as we arrived early in the morning and we were kindly given a quiet room. mattress needed foam pad to make it comfortable. it is very expensive to eat so grocery store across street is nice however room does not have a refrigerator or microwave which was sorely […] needed. restaurant is very expensive (get a breakfast included if you don't want to pay $60-70 per day for it) and bar is full of suits would have appreciated some consideration for the errant phone calls, and fire alarm in the middle of the night beware the couples package in the spa unless you don't mind sharing with complete strangers Read more

Very comfortable and clean. Nice size especially for a European hotel. Large bathroom with tub and separate shower and large vanity. Excellent location! Breakfast is expensive but Starbucks and cafes nearby, great grocery across the street for water and snacks.

From flooded bathrooms to inconsistent aircondition operation to faulty safety box in the room to housekeeping not collecting empty soda cans/water bottles and trash cans in the room. Concierge services also very poor and not very knowledgeable except for one chap. Considering I received a 50 percent off deal from wikipedia, the hotel was of very good quality for the price - bang and olufsen in the bedroom, another tv in the bathroom, walk-in glass/stone shower separate from the bath etc. However, the towels/bed were not changed during the 5 days I stayed at the hotel and the staff suffered from the same problem […] all large hotel workers seem to suffer from and the guest were rather lewd (could be because I was not the only one who benefitted from the deal). The gentleman who checked us in was very nice. But when we first walked off the elevator and were walking to our room there were half eaten apples strewn on the floor of the hallway. The room itself seemed nice and comfortable, but when we were sleeping an alarm went off and kept going off; I think the hotel should have made sure any alarms were turned […] off for the next guests. The next morning when I was taking a shower [the shower is half enclosed by a glass partition and there are mirrors along the walls] the large mirror directly across from the shower had steamed up and either the previous guest or a disgruntled housekeeper had written "REDRUM" across it in huge letters which gave me a jolt. It was quite disturbing.. We noticed later that "HELP" was also written on the other mirror on top of the faucets. Doesn't inspire confidence in the cleaning staff either way. The worst part was when i mentioned this to the front desk as i was checking out - the guy was completely indifferent and had the gall to ask how the stay was right after I told him about it. He was also very slow about getting straight my mini bar bill which was wrongly charged. Read more

The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The concierge service was excellent. The hotel had a nice bar and restaurant. Located 1 block from Picadilly Circus with its many restaurants and stores and a short walk to SoHo with its many high end stores. There is a grocery store right accross the street that is handy for forgotten supplies or an easy […] and inexpensive breakfast. The tube is 2 short blocks and connects you with the whole City at a much cheaper rate than taxis. Only one complaint, the hotel provided 1 complimentary bottle of water for our whole stay, which was 6 days. It would have been nice to get a complimentary bottle for each day of our stay. -Hotel is nice. -Beds are a little too firm. -Rooms are tiny. -Hallway noise is really bad. Probably the biggest killer for me. I am a very deep sleeper and still had trouble staying here. We actually left a day early because of it.
