"Nice hotel, but has smoke ventilation issue"
BEWARE OF SMOKING. The hotel is in a great location in Mayfair, near the Green Park tube station, walkable to Trafalgar square/Covent square. My wife and I had only 1 major criticism and I felt it's worth letting people know. We stayed in a Deluxe King NON-SMOKING room, which for the first day smelled fine. But the next day after we got back from touristy […] things the room completely reeked of cigarettes as if 10 people were smoking in our room. I opened windows, asked housecleaning to spray the room without success, and decided the only way it can come into the room is through the vents. I asked to change rooms but they didn't have a deluxe king available until the next day. That evening a horrible hotel alarm went off at 5am which scared the bejesus out of us, and as it turned out someone was smoking in a non-smoking room which sets off the hotel armageddon-like alarm system. After we finally switched rooms (day 3 out of 4), the new room didn't smell like cigarettes but the bathroom reeked, especially when you turned the water on. We didn't want to spend our vacation moving rooms and we decided to suck it up, but neither my wife or I smoke, I get allergies and she's pregnant so if you find you have a sensitive nose to cigarettes, beware of this issue when you decide to stay here. Throughout the process, they tried to be super accommodating and appeared genuinely concerned about the issue so i feel bad knocking the hotel, but it is a problem. "great hotel for business/pleasure"
Hotel is located close to Picadillay Square, about 10min walks if you dont stop along the way to look at all the shops. Also close to Chinatown, subway,Starbucks and there is a grocery store across the street. Staff very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for the business traveler"
Great hotel in a great area. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The room was a little spartan for a luxury hotel, but I think that was just a difference between the US and the UK. Overall, it was a great experience and I will stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"not quite worth the money"
very nice hotel in great location for site-seeing (once you find it). requested early check-in as we arrived early in the morning and we were kindly given a quiet room. mattress needed foam pad to make it comfortable. it is very expensive to eat so grocery store across street is nice however room does not have a refrigerator or microwave which was sorely […] needed. restaurant is very expensive (get a breakfast included if you don't want to pay $60-70 per day for it) and bar is full of suits would have appreciated some consideration for the errant phone calls, and fire alarm in the middle of the night beware the couples package in the spa unless you don't mind sharing with complete strangers Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Pleasantly surprised in London!!!"
Very comfortable and clean. Nice size especially for a European hotel. Large bathroom with tub and separate shower and large vanity. Excellent location! Breakfast is expensive but Starbucks and cafes nearby, great grocery across the street for water and snacks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Should be called HOTEL NOTFAIR"
Overpriced/over rated. From flooded bathrooms to inconsistent aircondition operation to faulty safety box in the room to housekeeping not collecting empty soda cans/water bottles and trash cans in the room. Concierge services also very poor and not very knowledgeable except for one chap. The clincher, although not really their fault is there was a gas […] problem for 3 days that resulted inno hotwater at a time that it was freezing cold! They probably feel that they can demand the horrendous rates because of their location. Definitely not deserving to have a 5 star on it.... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worth a little extra. Superb"
Mayfair was as nice as it gets in London. And a great bar with top dining options close and tube station just outside. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay at the Mayfair was great. The staff were very helpful. The location of the hotel was good, close to the train station and walking distance to oxfort street.Genuine Expedia guest review
Close to Piccadilly Circus and major theatres. Restaurant renowned, Quince; pricey menu Helpful staff Our second visit to this hotel Will stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Considering I received a 50 percent off deal from wikipedia, the hotel was of very good quality for the price - bang and olufsen in the bedroom, another tv in the bathroom, walk-in glass/stone shower separate from the bath etc. However, the towels/bed were not changed during the 5 days I stayed at the hotel and the staff suffered from the same problem […] all large hotel workers seem to suffer from and the guest were rather lewd (could be because I was not the only one who benefitted from the deal). Overall, good quality for the half-price I paid, but would never consider staying for the full price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
heating system didn't work in room, cold air was being pumped in. Problem resolved at midnight when they changed my room. Housekeeping found a condom in room and put on night table. Thoughtful but not mine. Very good location but this stay had its problems.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Concierge went above and beyond when we had an issue with a lost passport. 100% recommend. Great location (less than ten min walk to Buckingham palace) and around corner from tube station. Comfortable bed. Modern and big room.Genuine Expedia guest review
Small rooms but good sized bathrooms. Professional and efficient staff!Genuine Expedia guest review
The gentleman who checked us in was very nice. But when we first walked off the elevator and were walking to our room there were half eaten apples strewn on the floor of the hallway. The room itself seemed nice and comfortable, but when we were sleeping an alarm went off and kept going off; I think the hotel should have made sure any alarms were turned […] off for the next guests. The next morning when I was taking a shower [the shower is half enclosed by a glass partition and there are mirrors along the walls] the large mirror directly across from the shower had steamed up and either the previous guest or a disgruntled housekeeper had written "REDRUM" across it in huge letters which gave me a jolt. It was quite disturbing.. We noticed later that "HELP" was also written on the other mirror on top of the faucets. Doesn't inspire confidence in the cleaning staff either way. The worst part was when i mentioned this to the front desk as i was checking out - the guy was completely indifferent and had the gall to ask how the stay was right after I told him about it. He was also very slow about getting straight my mini bar bill which was wrongly charged. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Our First London Visit"
The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The concierge service was excellent. The hotel had a nice bar and restaurant. Located 1 block from Picadilly Circus with its many restaurants and stores and a short walk to SoHo with its many high end stores. There is a grocery store right accross the street that is handy for forgotten supplies or an easy […] and inexpensive breakfast. The tube is 2 short blocks and connects you with the whole City at a much cheaper rate than taxis. Only one complaint, the hotel provided 1 complimentary bottle of water for our whole stay, which was 6 days. It would have been nice to get a complimentary bottle for each day of our stay. I would definitely stay at the Mayfair again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Mayfair in London"
-Hotel is nice. -Beds are a little too firm. -Rooms are tiny. -Hallway noise is really bad. Probably the biggest killer for me. I am a very deep sleeper and still had trouble staying here. We actually left a day early because of it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We fully appreciated and used the concierge service for booking restaurants, shipping items back to the states & help with printing our boarding passes. Classic old school hotel. Perfect location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my 3rd stay at the Mayfair and it's always a wonderful experience. It's a great hotel in a very convenient part of town. Right next to the Green Park station which give you easy access to the city if traveling by tube. There was a problem with the shower in our room which was promptly fixed and the service and staff have always been top notch. […] I like exploring and staying in new places, but if traveling with someone new I always find myself going back to the Mayfair and it always impresses. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"If you can afford the rate, stay here!"
The room was nicely furnished with lovely amenities, and the bathroom was also spacious with a modern flair (and all very clean!). The hotel had a lovely lounge, bar, and restaurant (although the prices were a little extravagant...24 pounds for breakfast!) The location was a brief jot from Piccadilly Circus and the Green Park tube station, which was […] also nice. The doormen and bell staff seemed to be exactly where you needed them, when you needed them, and always with a smile. In short, if you can splurge on this hotel, stay there! "I would stay again. Great for families."
We arrived very early in the morning and were allowed to check into our room by 8:30am. This was huge with two children under 9 years of age. Having to wait until 3pm would have been very difficult. The staff was helpful and brought us a roll out bed after the first night because our two children did not sleep well together. The hotel is across the […] street from a supermarket, down the street from a pharmacy and a great underground stop (Green Park) with connections to everywhere. These were important for us as a family. It is also located in a great neighborhood that is nice to walk as a family, close to tourist spots but removed from masses of tourists. There is a dance club and casino on the street, but aside from a little noise there were no issues. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel in a Great location"
I was visiting to with my daughter to celebrate her 21st birthday. I wanted a hotel with a trendy (young) feel that my daughter would enjoy but yet professional that I would not feel out of place. The Mayfair had a wonderful balance, and we loved their location within walking distance to great shopping and dining.Genuine Expedia guest review
"This is a four star hotel, not five star"
We stayed 10 nights and had a good experience. The location is superb. The staff is plentiful and exceptionally helpful. However, hotels.com claims this to be 5 star and it is in no way that (a problem we often have with the site). We expected more than what we got - had we expected a 4 star property we would have been fine. Examples: no newspaper, […] no individual amenities (soap & shampoo are in dispensers attached to the wall), decor is quite ordinary, rooms & restaurant...Showers are great. Lobby Bar is hot night spot. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Definitely worth staying at The Mayfair!"
It is pricey compared to American hotels, but all London hotels are higher priced and generally have no consistent standards. This one has spacious rooms, excellent customer service and a great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"clean, great location"
clean, great location, great service. minor difficulties with room-no light, no electric plug but it was remedied. Service was so-so. Half the staff had an attitude. It was very expensive but I figured we saved money on the location and the time we would have had traveling in cabs. However, it is a pricey hotel, even for London.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED"
IT WAS HARD TO FIND. HAD GOOD BUS AND UNDERGROUND LOCATION. DID NOT THINK THE HOTEL WAS WORTH THE MONEY. THE ROOM COULD HAVE BEEN HAD ALITTLE MORE TO IT. THE BATHROOM WAS SMALL AND YOU HAD TO MOVE THE MAT TO OPEN THE DOOR. I KEPT BUMPING INTO IT. NO HOOKS TO HANG ROBES, NITEWARE OR TOWEL ON. THERE WERE NO DRAWS IN THE NIGHT STANDS OR IN THE BATHROOM. […] NO ICE BUCKET OR LUGGAGE RACK. IT JUST DIDN'T SEEM LIKE A 5 STAR HOTEL. WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. THE STAFF WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND HELPFUL. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The May Fair Dear Sandy Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel which is much appreciated. I am truly disappointed to see that you did not experience the May Fair to it's full potential. The hotel is perfectly located in Mayfair. Green Park station is very close by (as well as Green Park itself). Hotel is conveniently located near numerous 5-star restaurants and has a lovely SPA and Cigar room to relax.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very comfortable beds"
We really enjoyed the location and the staff at this hotel. If you want a very nice meal any time of day, Langons is a block away. The room was spacious. My only disappointment with the room was that there was no where to plug in a curling iron with access to a mirror. The hotel either has to bring you a mirror for the table (which they were out of […] as all were being used By other guests) or an extension cord so you could stand in front of the closet mirror. Odd design. However, the staff was very nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern interior but not spotless"
The hotel is ideally located and this is why we chose it. It was a bit modern for our tastes, but even so the furniture seemed very cheap, and not what I have come to expect of a f 5 star hotel. Our major gripe was that the underside of the toilet seat was not clean - really not acceptable. We will probably not return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I think the Mayfair has a better level of service and the hotel is maintained far better than any of the other 5star hotels I have stayed at in the west end of London. Everything feels new and the staff really make an effort.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellently located hotel in London"
The location of this hotel is excellent for connecting with other key parts of London and 1 of our party flew into London and had a directly connecting tube from Heathrow to Green Park and the rest again had a directly connecting tube from Kings Cross rail station. Reception & concierge dealt with all our requests / enquiries promptly. The door staff […] clearly knew us and always checked if we needed a taxi and wished us a good day / evening. "large clean room with polite & attentive staff"
Due to the airline cancelling my flight at the last minute I was delayed 24 hours in reaching the hotel. To accomplish my goals for the trip I had to extend my stay due to arriving 24 hours late due to the airline. I was very disappointed that neither the hotel nor Expedia would offset or at least partially offset the cost of the room for the night […] I paid for but wasn't able to use due to the airline flight cancellation against the extra 2 nights I had to stay. "Great hotel - bad staff communication"
In terms of the hotel facilities and rooms, I don't have a bad word to say. We had 2 family rooms which were spacious and one had a walk-in-wardrobe and large bathroom with double sink, bath and shower. We had a big problem at check-in however, our room was not available for 2 1/2 hours after the expected check-in time and the hotel did little to compensate […] for the fact that we missed our dinner reservations and were almost late for the theatre as a result of their mess up. I had to argue for complimentary breakfasts for our party and the hotel then repeatedly forgot/ failed to note this in their systems which led to us being hounded throughout our stay and having to return to reception multiple times (each time queueing) and deal with rude staff (even interrupting us during breakfast) convinced we were lying to them! It was very disappointing and not what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. It's a shame because it definitely ruined my pre-wedding celebrations and made us all very stressed. As a result, I think I will take my business elsewhere next time and if you are planning on staying for a special occasion, I recommend you do the same! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The room was supposed to be ready from 3pm, when we arrived at 3:10 it was not. We were offered a complimatary coffee while we waited, which they then tried to make me pay for. The staff are not particularly fluent in the local lingo, English does not help matters. Eventually at 3:55 we were moved to a different room on a lower floor where a room was […] ready. One of the attractions of choosing this hotel was that it had a "City View". I would hardly call a view of the office across the road a "City View." Yet from the room we were first going to be allocated based ona well known Map with a Street View it looks like there would be a view. When you book a 5 Star hotel you expect it is be in good condition, with a clean room, which is comfortable. The chance for the hotel to make a difference is in the customers experience. Having a receptionist who first cannot locate you because he cannot spell your name, then takes about 20 minutes to get you checked in because he doesn't appear competent is what you expect from a 1 star hotel or a Bed & Breakfast. Then when you have to return to hopefully get the room that could't be allocated to you when you arrived and you must queue up to be served by someone elese who knows nothing about what is going on. They only got 1 for Overall and Quality, because you cannot give 0 or even negative marks. I certainly will never darken their doorstep again as the experience was shambolic and disgraceful. Great Location with friendly staff. Good hotel bar but if you are there at the weekend you'll need to book which is a pain, as they let people not staying at the hotel in, who seem to book all the tables up and you can't get to the Bar. We gave up and went somewhere else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
