"Hard to find room not already occupied!!"
I felt like the hotel was more interested in quantity of guests than the quality of service being given to each guest they had. I had paid in advance for my room with simple requests to be on same floor with family members, to have a crib, and fridge in room only to be told upon check in fridge and microwaves were sold out, I was 2 floors away from […] my mom, and they were still looking for a crib. By 2am on my 10th call they finally admitted there would be no crib, needless to say we all got no sleep that evening. The next night my mother in law was to spend the night and when we went to check her in we were sent to 2 rooms that were occupied before I demanded the third room be checked by a staff member before sending me again to an occupied room. The security guard checked the third room and it too was occupied, she never came back, the fourth and final room was checked by a maintenance worker it was finally empty and then we were told it was non smoking, the only reason my mother in law booked her own room and was charged 50 dollars more a night than my room was because she wanted to be able to smoke!! This was horrible! Other than that!! Once in the room, beds and pillows were comfy, my room was a little on the small side, and karaoke bar was fun on Friday night. They need to fix their computers and their staff to get friendlier people who care about the guests and get enough fridge and microwaves for every room and cribs if need be! First of all the staff at La Quinta was excellent! We had a cancelled flight and I called the hotel to see if we could get an early check in. "Older, renovated hotel in sketchy location"
The hotel has a bar. No big deal except we were greeted upon arrival by a man trying to make his way to a cab who could not stay on his feet. La Quinta is no 5 star hotel, but if you're looking for a clean and affordable place to stay, then this is it. The staff is kind and accommodating, in particular Shanice. "You Get What You Pay For"
The title pretty much says it all. Electing to stay over one night after our cruise, we decided to spend our last night in New Orleans at La Quinta near the airport. It was only $80 and was just one night so how bad could it be? Well, upon checking in we were directed to room #310. Ride the elevator up and whoa! room 310 is unmade and looks as if a […] rugby game just ended in there. Back down and directed to room 304. Electronic key let us in and while not great, we thought it would be fine. Noted someone left a food wrapper under the headboard but pulled sheets off and saw no signs of bedbugs. Bathroom was old and in need of updating. Caulking around shower was cracked and moldy. TV was fine though none of the channels were entered or marked and there was no channel guide anywhere. Decided to go on a swamp tour so left for a few hours. Went to dinner at a fine Mexican place on the corner then walked to the Wal Mart to pickup a paper and snacks. Packing for our flight the next morning, I was shocked to find about $300 missing from my backpack. Went to the front desk to register a complaint, filled out an incident report and was told the lock would be "read". Received a call from the manager the next day stating their records found no one entered the room while we were out. Stupid perhaps for leaving cash in the room but expected some degree of safety.
