We loved our stay at the Crystal Gateway. Mostly for the convenience of the shops & metro. The hotel & room were clean & comfortable. Only disappointment was the swimming pool. We looked forward to going swimming after a long day of site-seeing but only half of the pool was open. It wasn't very clean with a ton of people! It only stayed open from 5-10pm. "Very Large, Very Convenient"
The Marriott Crystal Gateway provided an excellent experience. Breakfast was included in my rate and it was a very good buffet with a wide variety of food. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The location is really great with very easy access to the Metro. The only complaint I have is that I felt I was left to "guess" where to go and what to do […] in several situations. For example, the hotel provides free WiFi in the lobby, but no instructions as to how to access it. It turned out to be relatively easy, but I had to ask at the front desk to ensure I wasn't doing something wrong. I also had to ask about the location and content of the free breakfast. There was no hotel guide in my room and no information channel on the TV and no information sheet at check-in. There is an information screen in the lobby but it was sluggish and didn't seem to work well. One group out, the next was shuttled in. Could not use the pool or facilities. Elevators were slow & kids pressed every floor as they exited the elevators. There seemed to be nobody in charge. This was overall a very nice stay. Room was very clean. The pool hours should be longer. For the expense of a pool, to only allow it to be used a few hours in the evening seems wasteful. The pool was beautiful and well maintained and there is a jacuzzi as well. In room free WiFi should be a standard in a hotel of this caliber. That was inconvenient […] and annoying. There is drect access to an underground mall with shops ranging from hgh-end to a Rite-Aid. You can also access the metro diirectly beneath the hotel. The price of this hotel ($83) per night was perfect. The metro and a mall is under the hotel, perfect! 10 minute ride into DC on the metro., perfect! Hotel staff helpful to find attractions. "Very convenient location and easy transport to DC"
We booked the hotel with a breakfast and parking package, which made it affordable. When booking we could only get a king size bed, but upon calling the hotel in the morning of arrival they were able to change it to two queen beds instead, which really works much better with 2 adults and 3 kids :) The hotel was really nice, seemed new(ish), or at least […] recently updated. It had a nice atmosphere, pleasent staff and good location. The hotel is located in Arlington, about 15 minutes from DC via Metro. The Metro is connected to the hotel via a tunnel, which also leads to a shopping center. This made for an extremely convenient commute to DC, as well as some grocery shopping for essentials. The kids loved the pool, although it was quite small, and not opened to the outdoor part - they should just open it up. The breakfast buffet got backed up in the morning, and it took about 20 min. to get a table, and 10-15 minutes to order an omelet. It was, however, a very good buffet! Only two elevators were working at the time of our stay, so we ended up taking the stairs to the seventh floor several times. This was good exercise, but probably a problem for some. We stayed at this hotel for the pool and the concierge service floor and the free shuttle to the airport. The pool was closed and the concierge room is closed on the weekends, the shuttle bus did not start early enough for us to make use of it. There where drunk kids partying in the halls all night. This is a fine hotel with one flaw. They charge for wireless service in the rooms, and the service is not great. Come on, get into the 21st century and provide internet service free.
