The room, service and hotel were very clean. The staff was great. This Hotel is across the street from The Woodfield Mall ( one of Chicago's largest). We walked to the mall. There are plenty of restaurants near by and the hotel is right off the interstate. Time to downtown is actually about an hour to an hour and a half due to traffic. We went to chicago for a wedding and stayed here just overnight, but it was amazing! Our room was huge and surprisingly elegant! And we paid about $85 using hotels.com- whaaaaaat?!?!?! So you can imagine my surprise. My fiance is from chicago and even said it was in a nice neighborhood- right across the street from Woodford which is the 3rd largest […] mall in america. They worked with us to get an early check in and even switched us rooms without downgrading to ensure we would get ready and make it to the wedding on time! "Misleading in advertising"
The hotel offers an "upgrade" to a club room that costs more and offers a "view of the city". That's not realy true, the room does overlook a small town but there is really nothing to see it's a small suburb. with no impressive sites to see. The food that was included in the cost was excellent, but I do feel that upselling becuse you get a romantic […] view or a view of the city is misleading. This hotel gets an F for room service in the early AM and for the absence of information about places that could deliver. "UPS" sponsored internet service was costly in the business office. "So glad I did not pay full price."
The floor was not vacuumed. The furniture was marred. The walls are so paper thin that there are signs posted to remain quiet during evening hours. "Some Surprising Flaws"
The outdoor pool was amazing, lovely, and long enough to get some real exercise. The room was clean and the pillows heavenly, but the bed was pretty hard. A more serious problem: just before eight I was woken by loud conversation in the halls. Partly bad timing because kids wanted to use indoor pool and it was currently under construction or maintenance. It was raining on the outside pool. Room had a big wet spot on the floor. "close to family"
I would NOT recommend this hotel or stay again. Even though the lobby and room was very nice and welcoming but other issues. I requested a refrigerator on Hotels.com and when I checked it. The employee said, "no problem." Never received a frig :( The iron did not work. The parking lot is extremely inconvenient for loading up a cart and walking in. Does […] not make sense. Hotel felt unsafe- doors (back doors) are NOT locked and easy access to rooms without being watched. Hallways very cramped and dark. The exercise room was terrible-2 broken ellipticals, a bike was missing a foot strap and treadmills were facing the walls while your back facing the door. Can not see who is coming in and no way out it you become cornered by a stranger. Exercise room way down the stairs in the back of the hotel by back door, go down stairs and then down more hallways-very unsafe for women and no one can hear your "help" if needed. The back doorway that leads into the parking lot is very odd- you open the door (to leave hotel) with the cart which gets stuck on the handle. Then returning into the hotel-must push handicap button and move a wait between both doors until outside doors shuts completely. You then push the other handicap button to open inside door but can not open because cart is in the way, so you must squeeze cart and yourself up against outside door so inside door can open (still hits the cart). "Perfect for Woodfield Mall"
We booked this not realizing exactly HOW CLOSE we would be to Woodfield Mall and IKEA. We took the morning shuttle to the mall but actually walked back to the hotel at the end of the day and walked to a nice steak place from there, too. Didn't need to get in our cars at all. The room was very nice although the bathroom was pretty tight for three females-- […] but we made it work. The lobby is very impressive and it was nice to have Starbucks available right there, too. Nice hotel, comfortable rooms. Was there for a conference. Was not impressed with the support facilities for a large conference. Bathrooms closest to conference rooms were way too small to accommodate the number of attendees. Conference meals were served in an adjacent, heated, permanent tent with no direct access to the building. Had to walk 100 feet […] outside around the building to get to the tent for meals. Located outside of the city right across from a mall! Ample parking and no fee unlike the hotels downtown Chicago. Its a bit of a drive to the city but worth it. We enjoyed the breakfast. It was pretty noisy due to a Vampires Diary Convention. Paying for internet access was not friendly! Our room was average at best. The bathroom was small. The floor under the carpet was uneven, marks on the walls. Refrigerator was available on request and no microwave in the room. When we checked out, we were not asked how […] we enjoyed our stay. The front desk person was not friendly. There was a $50 per night incidental hold on my card. I never use room service nor do I incur services that would use charges other that for the room itself. The 37" flat screen was nice and reception was great. There was no hotel guide book in the room about hotel policies, etc. Which I thought was strange. The service staff were great for our breakfast visit. The variety of breakfast items were plentiful and fresh. Our made to order omelets were delicious, as was the orange juice. "Nice hotel, but disappointed with experience"
My family stayed at the Hyatt for a nice evening getaway. The hotel is quite nice, comfortable room and amenities. The walls are paper thin though as a wedding party that occupied the majority of the rooms in our hallway returned to their rooms at 12:30AM. They were incredibly loud with absolutely no respect for where they were. Slamming doors, seriously […] yelling in the hallways. After about an hour someone opened their door and yelled "Be quiet." At about 2:30AM, as this noise was still going on, I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up AGAIN (so someone else obviously called too) to settle the situation. The noise did not end until 4:30 in the morning - now how riduculous! I was very upset this inconsiderate group of people that caused this huge disturbance, but I'm equally upset that the hotel did not take care of the situation. At some point these people should have been told to leave, really! We pretty much didn't sleep all night which was very upsetting for our "nice" getaway. Although this hotel is nice, with all the other hotel options in the area, I cannot imagine returning since this matter was not addressed and has left me with a soured feeling. We loved this hotel and plan to come back often. We came with our children (4 & 7) and they loved the spacious lobby & getting Shirley Temples from the bar. :). You could pretty much walk across the parking lots to Ikea and or Nordstrom Rack. We ate dinner at the White Chocolate Grill which was fabulous. Everything homemade and service outstanding, […] not mention $3 kids meals. Wildberry for breakfast. I could have sworn Expedia said pool was seasonal (which we did see) but we smelled a strong smell of chlorine and after following the smell we discovered an indoor pool. I didn't bring suits but my kids weren't disappointed. I hope next time we'll get the same awesome deal but regardless, we'll be back as it makes a quick getaway for this Wisconsin family!
