"Nice hotel, but disappointed with experience"
My family stayed at the Hyatt for a nice evening getaway. The hotel is quite nice, comfortable room and amenities. The walls are paper thin though as a wedding party that occupied the majority of the rooms in our hallway returned to their rooms at 12:30AM. They were incredibly loud with absolutely no respect for where they were. Slamming doors, seriously […] yelling in the hallways. After about an hour someone opened their door and yelled "Be quiet." At about 2:30AM, as this noise was still going on, I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up AGAIN (so someone else obviously called too) to settle the situation. The noise did not end until 4:30 in the morning - now how riduculous! I was very upset this inconsiderate group of people that caused this huge disturbance, but I'm equally upset that the hotel did not take care of the situation. At some point these people should have been told to leave, really! We pretty much didn't sleep all night which was very upsetting for our "nice" getaway. Although this hotel is nice, with all the other hotel options in the area, I cannot imagine returning since this matter was not addressed and has left me with a soured feeling. We loved this hotel and plan to come back often. We came with our children (4 & 7) and they loved the spacious lobby & getting Shirley Temples from the bar. :). You could pretty much walk across the parking lots to Ikea and or Nordstrom Rack. We ate dinner at the White Chocolate Grill which was fabulous. Everything homemade and service outstanding, […] not mention $3 kids meals. Wildberry for breakfast. I could have sworn Expedia said pool was seasonal (which we did see) but we smelled a strong smell of chlorine and after following the smell we discovered an indoor pool. "Weekend of shopping--no parking or whirlpool"
Parking lot didn't handle guests and two Valentines Day parties. We opted to pay $10 for valet. After having dinner our car was still sitting in the drive at 11:00 covered in snow we realized our keys were still sitting on the valet desk with our info. The desk staff apologized and offered to move the vehicle. My daughter moved the vehicle in a space […] very far from the entrance. The staff offered free breakfast since we paid thru Expedia they couldn't comp the room. They covered dinner and offered free wifi. "Probably will not stay here again"
We arrived and were given our room. Our room was pleasant enough with comfortable beds. We did see stains on the wall near the desk and were disappointed that the room did not have a mini frig. The next morning,we were rudely awakened by maids yelling in the hallway before 8 am. "Noisy at night"
Numerous calls were made to the front desk about people running up and down the hallways after midnight. Security did respond. Hotel is a friendly business customer hotel during the week. The weekends have become a childrens playground for the weekends. Complaint was responded with a Hyatt Gold card and 5000 points for a free nights stay. "Location is important when staying at this hotel!"
The lobby is nicely decorated. No frig or microwave in the room, bathrooms are small; one small vanity, toilet and shower; only one person can be in the bathroom at a time. There was one other mirror in the room which was in the hallway between the door and the bed but there was no outlet around it, so I could not even grab a chair and blow dry or curl […] my hair. I had to wait for my husband to get out of the shower, let the steam dissipate and then go into the bathroom to do my hair and makeup, not convenient!. We were there over Thanksgiving weekend for three nights; the hotel gift shop was NOT open one day that we were there. When I asked at the front desk the others, they said the gift shop is 'supposed' to be open and did not know why it wasn't. Secondly there is a coffee cart in the lobby, this was not open the majority of the time. Again when I asked at the front desk, they said, 'it is supposed to be open. The hotel restaurant food is expense, average of $13.00 per plate for breakfast. Bottle water in your room, $4.50/ea. it would have been nice to have the gift shop open. Luckily the mall is right across the street, shuttle service available. If you plan on eating out, order light, no place to store your left overs. Room was clean, staff was pleasant, albeit, the hotel was not a dump, I would spend a little more to stay at a hotel that offered more amenities even if further away; a little more luxury would have been nice. Much better than staying in downtown Chicago considering location and quality of the premise as well as money. Breakfast was quite good for money sepecially.
