The rooms are comfy but small, wine stains on rugs, tubs are DEFINITELY not for bathing, the service is mediocre...if that...the concierge seemed annoyed when we asked for help with planning activities in NY and was rushing and speaking quickly. The only benefit of staying at the hotel is that it is located centrally to most major attractions and is easy to get to via grand central station, just a walk up a corridor. However, i would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for comfort, a nice room, or service, also their sky bar was closed until further notice for whatever reason.

The hotel is beautiful and grand...however, it lacks the simplest eminities that you would expect in a nice hotel, let alone a great hotel. For example, no coffee in the room. When your breakfast choices start at $24 for a continental breakfast, it gets pricey real quick. Just to order a cup of Coffee, since it lacked a coffee maker was $9. I had a regular breakfast with eggs toast coffee and juice and it was over $40. The only consolation was I could buy coffee in the lobby for $3. Parking, room service, internet in the room etc, were all way over priced! You would think spending $1000 for 2 nights (King room) after all taxes, fees etc, that you would get some basic comforts. I won't be returning.

We wanted a hotel close to Grand Central and the subway. This was a great choice because both are accessed without even having to walk outside. We checked in and were upgraded to a wonderful Lexington suite which included a seperate living room w/sleeper sofa!!! I love the fact that we could leave our bags with the bell hop the next morning...explore the city...and on our way to the Metro north....stop back in the hotel to retrieve our bags. Staying anywhere else would have been a hassle in regards to getting our bags at the end of the day. Very clean room and very friendly staff....expecially the conceirge.

If you're in N.Y. and need access to trains or subway, Grand Central is right outside the hotel entrance. Walking distance to Times Square, Broadway Plays, Rockerfeller Center. Bryant Park is right up 42nd street (2 blocks away). Hotel lobby is beautiful. Room was comfortable, although internet wifi acces is through t- mobile. We were unable to access. Not sure if there was an extra charge to log on. It wasn't a priority for us. We'll stay there again if we can get the same price we recieved with this stay.

Went to New York as sister and I treated mum for her birthday. 3 adults thus stayed in room with 2 double beds. Sister and I shared a bed - expected it to be bigger. Guess OK for a couple though. Rooms very clean, designer cosmetics and clean towels daily. Rooms have Tv with some satellite channels. We didn't use any pay movies but hey we were in central NYC. Hotel directly next to grand central station so perfect for travelling around. All airports do transfers to grand central so getting there was no problem. Rooms DO NOT have tea/coffee facilities - have v expensive drinks on room service menu - but 3 Starbucks within very easy reach (all within ab 2-3 min walk away). Times square 10min walk away. Staff very helfpul - sister forgot bag on a cab - advice given on how to trace it, given new card access keys to room (at no additional cost).

We arrived around 3 and asked for a room with a good view. The receptionist was very helpful and found us a good room. The problem was the room was musty. We had somewhere to go so we set the A/C to 60. When we returned (10:45), the room was 78 degrees so we called maintenance. The guy told us that some valve wasn't open, but the room should be cool in about a hour. Went out for drinks, but was not planning on it. It was finally reasonable, but not cool around 2:30. That part was very disappointing!

I arrived in the evening and looked forward to watching a movie. The TV reception was fuzzy and the movie selection would not come up. I reported the problem that evening and it was never fixed. Also, the desk lamp did not work and a couple of other light boards were inoperable. This is a nice hotel with great public areas and nice rooms, but needed, in my case to pay attention to fixing the reported problem. They did deduct internet charges I had accrued and were very apologetic.

Grand Central Station is accessible from the lobby without having to go outside which is very convenient. Hotel is also adjacent to plenty of shopping as well as nearby restaurants. My king room was huge by any standards but mattress wasn't quite as comfortable as promised. When I got there I noticed teh sheets were somewhat stained and the courtains were not only dirty but also boasted a burn mark. Bathroom was a descent size but the vanity is too small for women, hard to do your makeup, plus the shower was also difficult to use. And the blow dryer was just plain pitiful. Hot water also a commodity in this hotel any time of day but much worse at night. TV in room is set on a swivel and is viewable for any angle which was great but it was an old fashioned TV, not a flat panel LCD, and definitely showed its age. Hotel concierge was great, very knowledgeable and willing to assist, and $2 luggage storage was very conveninent and allowed me to sightsee between my last meetings and my departing flight. But be aware, the hotel restaurant and room service charges were nothing less than outrageous unless you're OK paying $24 for a plain waffle. Good value room with a business-budget-buster line up of restaurants.

I attended a large dance convention , held at the HYATT, for the 5th year in a row now. Since the majority of the dancers stay there also the checkout is a nightmare! The worst though...we were charged $2.00 per bag for storing until the convention was done. I asked the Bell why and since when did they do this...he told me it is a VIRUS that is catching on throughout NY. POOR CUSTOMER RELATIONS, especially the price you pay for NY to begin with. They should at least let one of the parties have a late checkout so we can all store our bags in one room....I am sure the dance company paid BIG BUCKS to hold the convention there and all the rooms we booked!! Also, our beds were VERY uncomfortable!

This was my second stay at the Grand Hyatt--the first was for work, this time for pleasure. My takeaways have been the same both times. No complaints about the service, the lobby and meeting areas are beautiful, the location is super-convenient, and the rooms are marginal adequate. Overall, there are places I'd rather stay, but for someone from out of town, if the price is right, you can't go wrong. Also-- if you get a room on floor 29, you should know that while it says it is non-smoking, it was recently converted (at least as of early january '09) from a smoking floor, so the rooms still reek of cigarettes.

This is the only hotel we have stayed at in years that does not provide a coffee maker in the room, which forces you to buy it from the vendor in the lobby FOR A PRICE! The lighting is very poor, and the bathroom needs some sprucing up--toilet did not work properly and bathtub had a stain in it--this is the only hotel we have stayed in that doesn't have a traveler's guide in the room.
