"expensive hotel in downtown houston"
Here's the deal visitors to the Houston Hyatt Regency are viewed as walking visa cards. I'm surprised we weren't charged for breathing air in the lobby and rooms that is literally the only thing free at that hotel oh and room coffee as well. Here's the list: water-$3.50 valet parking 30.00 plus tips one nite at hotel 190.00 ( includes tax cost) internet […] 10.00 of course food and drink are included at very exorbitant prices i.e. room service chicken wings for $40/dozen are you kidding me??!! "Away form Home"
Stay was Great. Wasn't there long enough to get a real feel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was very nice. It is clearly not the most affordable, or the most expensive, but I think it is safe to say you get what you pay for. We were all very satisfied with the hotel. All of the employees are very nice with the exception of one of the hosts at the restaurant. We walked in to look around, and take a look at the menu. Before we had […] a chance to ask or look at anything, he immediately said "we are completely booked tonight, and this is a reservations only restaurant." We told him we wanted to see the menu and he said one second, and I guess thought the people coming up the elevator were more important because he completely ignored us and went to them. Turns out they did not have a reservation either so he let us look at the menu and quickly shooed all of us (including the other group that came up) out of the restaurant. We ran into our room attendant several times and she was very nice, always had a smile. The front desk was very helpful as well, we had to go down for an extra key among a few Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice spacious rooms, reasonable price considering location. Only problem is parking an extra expense: either valet or parking garage. Make sure to ask for a room not too far from the elevators.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice looking hotel, great rooms with lots of space. Prices are very reasonable considering the location. The only problem is parking: you'd have to pay either the valet or the garage which is an extra expense. Make sure to ask for a room not too far from the elevator.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"beautiful but busy"
This hotel is gorgeous....staff is very friendly and accommodating, valet service is quick, food at both restaurants is delicious and beautiful. My only complaint was that it was soooo busy. Granted...houston is a busy city, but if I had been given a heads up about all of events they had going on that weekend I would have chosen a different location. […] It seemed despite their usually good and speedy service, they should have staffed more appropriately so I didnt have to wait half an hour for a bellhop and stop getting ready for my wedding To go tell the valet I needed my car. They should plan Ahead when they have so many events going on, so their level of customer service doesnt suffer. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nicest Staff I have ever encountered"
I can't say enough about how lovely the staff is at this Hyatt. I really appreciated the extra touches like letting us store our luggage before check in, and after check out. Our initial bellman Leo was very sweet. The bellman that helped us with a shuttle ride on Sunday March 16th was amazing, I didn't get his name, and I really wish I had because he […] went all out. The shuttle driver Alex was also polite and helpful. Rooms are good, beds are comfortable, I wish ya'll had a mini fridge and I really think you should have a hot tub. WiFi is only free in the lobby if I am not mistaken? I don't care about that, but some might. Neighborhood gets a little scary a block or so away after dark. There are many many homeless groups all over. There are NO casual restaurants open in the evenings on weekends nearby that we could find. We did find a Murphy's Deli after a lot of walking around and that was a relief. So if you don't want to buy a fancy hotel dinner, be prepared to cab somewhere else. Hotel is close to the train and the train goes to the museums and zoo, so that was handy for us. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to friends home in Houston"
We informed front desk about 4pm day of arrival that our room was hot inside and a/c would not lower temp. We were gone for 5 hours and upon return the room was still at 76degrees. Front desk said someone would call our room and check on it. No one called and we spent a miserable night. Next morning went to front desk and were told they had no idea […] what if anything had been done and moved us to another room. We were told they could not reimburse us since we had booked through Hotels.com and the room was paid in full. After some talking to them they said a manager would look at comping the room but that did not happen. At check out all they would do is waive the valet parking fees. Will never stay there again and will not book through you again if this is the policy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hyatt Regency Houston On behalf of the hotel, I'd like to sincerely apologize that your stay was anything less than perfect. We find it very disappointing to hear that we have not met your expectations; Guest satisfaction is a high priority to us. We hope you will consider staying with us again in the future as we would love to make up for a less desirable stay.
"Business Style Hotel"
Nice hotel located in Downtown Houston. Not much around this hotel to walk to. Valet is $30/night with in and out privileges. Has a 24 hour Einstein Bagels in main lobby of hotel. Firm beds with overly soft feather pillows. Stayed with my 2 school aged children for 1 night on a Sunday. We would stay here again to be closer to the medical center.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hyatt Regency Houston Thanks for the detailed review. We certainly appreciate the time spent writing it and we can't wait for you and your family to come back and see us again!
"Very Loud Hotel - sleepless night ;-("
With the design of this hotel - the bar sits at the bottom on a beautiful atrium type design. any and all noise from the bar carries throughout the hotel as if they were right outside your door. "Be prepared to $$ for parking and wear earplugs"
The parking situation was unexpected (I don't live in a big city, so was perhaps more unprepared than someone who does) and expensive. You could either pay $30 for valet or up to $15 to park in the garage across the street (there was a skywalk connecting the buildings). We ended up paying $30 total for parking and we were only there for 24 hours. My […] second complaint was the noise at night. The hotel provided complimentary ear plugs, thankfully, and I used them. I wish the rooms were better insulated against the sound, or that the hotel staff encouraged people in the lobby to be quieter after say 11:00 PM. Other than those two issues, the hotel and our stay was just fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"OK - but not great"
Very expensive for the quality of the hotel. Nothing wrong..but nothing great. Room was clean, but carpet was worn and bedding was nothing special. Highlight was the really helpful valet attendent who went out of his way to assist and give directions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Business Travler Hotel"
Nice hotel centrally located in downtown that offers all that the business travler needs. From the centrally located bar, gym, pool, bagel and coffee shop, this hotel caters to the needs of those that are there to work. The rooms are nice and clean and comfortable, but not luxurious. Standard amenities, but nothing extra like robes or slippers. Like […] I said great for business, but if I was vacationing I would choose somewhere that offers the extras. "Great Views of Houston"
Overall was great. The restaurant at top of hotel , the Spindletop, rotates and you get to see all of Houston. Had cocktails and price was average. Location was excellent for us due to the sights we wanted to see. Must were clues and we were centrally located. Service was excellent. Lobby bar was only negative. Very pricey and people were a little rude […] and slow to wait on you. We left without getting anything due to the above. Definitely recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, lack of ameities"
The hotel is lovely but not suitable if you are in need of wifi and unable to spend any extra money for it. It is not atomatically included.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a hotel with all the rooms on the outside and empty space in the middle. There is a bar in the lobby which is placed in the middle, allowing all the loudness to vibrate up the middle. We were on the 7th floor and heard extreme loudness until 2am. We were later to request a quite room next time. There won"t be a next time. "Major Sound Issues - by an Architect"
I am an Architect and design hotels for major chains all over the world for such brands as Four Seasons, Marriott, Ritz Carlton, and Starwood. My experience of this hotel is that it has some major problems with sound. The hotel is an atrium design which allows sound from the lobby below propagate to the guestroom floors above. Whenever I entered the […] bathroom or walked near the entry door I could hear sound coming from the lobby through the walls which wasn’t a big issue during the day but at night you could hear the activity from the lobby below throughout the room. I prayed for the rooms fan coil to turn on to condition the room to cover up the noise coming through the walls which was not correctly designed either and overly load but it was the lesser of two evils. I could also hear my neighbor talking at a normal levels through the lock off doors. Everything else about the stay meant my expectations for a Hyatt but if a room has acoustical issues it is a big time problem. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a great place to stay in Downtown. I wish the double beds can be queen size instead of full size.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Expensive! Beds are hard."
For a bachelorette party, I rented a room online for $149 for 2 double beds. Beware of the $80 of taxes that will be added! The beds were not comfortable at all... Well maybe if you like hard beds. 2 of the 4 people woke up saying their back hurt. There was a dripping early in the morning that could be heard coming from inside the wall. A/C unit? Also, […] even though we were very high up, we could still hear the echoes from a late night crowd in the lobby. We went to dinner but when we came back, we couldn't find a refrigerator in the room to store the food... One more thing. Parking is a whopping $15 without in and out privileges or $30 to valet. Don't forget to add that into the budget. We wanted to catch the hotel shuttle to dinner but after waiting a long time, we ended up walking. The positives? Great location, clean rooms, nice views. Had a great time exploring down HoustonGenuine Expedia guest review
My recent stay was not a pleasant one, I paid for a breakfast surcharge to find out there is no breakfast. Also no free wifi! WHAT, they wanted $9.95 for slow speed and $19.95 for high speed you got to be kidding me I only paid over $300.00 you think wifi would be included although if I had a internet cable I could of plugged up to the dial up, who […] carries a internet cable. "Great Hotel at a Great Price"
Checking in to the hotel was quick and easy. I was able to get a spacious room at the top of the hotel for an incredible low rate, considering the location (Downtown Houston). The room had nicer amenities than I'm used to, including a robe to wear and a Keurig machine with a large selection of K-cups. The bathroom was luxurious with ornate tiling, 2 […] sinks, and an open shower. I have absolutely no complaints about the hotel, and loved every minute of my stay. Staff at Houston Hyatt Regency couldn't be more accommodating and professional. The on-site restaurants were great. And the rooms were spacious and clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was like a dungeon it was so dark, with all lights on. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, and the lighting there was the Worst, especially for applying make-up, baby-boomers and Seniors! The lack of free WI-FI was a punishment, and the cost of parking was outrageous, not to mention they lost the keys to my vehicle, and merely deducted […] the cost of Valet rather than a one night stay! The most rewarding thing was the hospitality of the staff who were all very pleasant, probably feeling the guilt of the outrageous cost for each and every thing. Bottled water was double the market cost. I doubt that I will stay at a Hyatt again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
