"Spend extra for a better stay."
Reserved a standard room and we got what we paid for. A room in the oldest building, not the 3.5-4 star rating type of room in a Hyatt. They had just washed the carpets and were still damp so I had us upgraded to the Tower rooms. Much better! Rooms were much brighter, quieter, and larger. Only shower-no bath tub. You also got drawers and a view! They […] should just knock down that old building and start from scratch. Anyhow, the pool area was nice, though they ran out of lounge chairs. I highly recommend taking the Hyatt water taxi if you are going to SeaWorld. $10 pp/RT. You enter a special gate in the back of the park and avoid the main entrance nightmare. "Two day stay somewhat close to the beach."
Room was noisy due to proximity to the street. Internet cost prohibitive compared to other resorts I have stayed in. Parking cost over the top. Movie channel broken could not be fixed. "needs an update"
This hotel is not like the pictures claim. Its older and in desperate need of an update. Pool area is cramped and chairs were falling apart. We stayed in the Bay II building and this should be redone. The beds were comfy but it felt like you were in an apartment building. No balcony and the courtyard area between the room was covered in bird droppings. […] Our door stuck, paint was chipping and in general the room was just bad. The bay view suite was very nice but we were surprised at the lack of amenities found in lower priced hotel rooms: there was no microwave, no heatlamp/fan in bathroom and there was a daily charge for internet access or wifi in the room! Hotel is great, nice and clean and the pools are amazing (great place to stay with kids) I have read previous reviews saying how they nickle & dime you and took it with a pinch of salt.. its 100% true, everything is extra!! The internet was done (which you have to pay extra for) and i went to the lobby only to be told "heres an 800 number you can call" […] she was so rude and dismissive! Later the guest services lady came round by the pool and about 3 of us complained about it, she said ill check and be right back.. never heard from or saw her again! The lobby has no coffee, water etc.. i asked if they had anything (standing in those lines trying to check in) and was told i could go buy something from the coffee shop down from the hotel.. having just stayed at the Hilton where they have all these things and cookies all day.. was very dissapointed to stay the least! We ate at the Red Marlin, pricey food and not the friendliest staff and the same can be said for the coffee/bagel place.. both could def be nicer and more helpful. For $261 per night, I was expecting something a lot better. The bathroom is not clean at all, mold in bath tub! In August, the pool area was WINDY making it too cold for my wife and me - and we are from Alaska! Kids didn't mind the cold and loved the pool slides. Stayed at this resort for my son's wedding which was to take place at a nearby venue. But due to unfortunate circumstances, the wedding was called off the day before. We had over 20 guests staying at this resort now with no wedding to attend. Duane, the Bell Man, heard about our situation and advised Stephanie, the Front Desk Manager. "Not what I expected"
I was disappointed upon arrival. We got there about an hour early before check in and asked if we could go ahead and do an early check in but our room was not ready. The lady at the counter said no problem, supposively checked us in, took my phone number and said she have someone call us when our room was ready. She gave us a couple keys for the pool […] area and said we were welcome to hang out at the pool. We did for 1 hour and 45 mins and never received a phone call. I then went to the lobby to see if our room was ready and I had a different lady this time, and she advised me that we were NOT pre-checked in and that's why we never got a phone call. Being the HYATT REGENCY I expected a lot better room. The hotel rooms looked worn and dated. The room was small compared to other hotels I've stayed at. The air conditioner never got the room cool, we had it set at 62 degrees, and it leaked all over the floor and it got some clothing soaked. "A little rundown but nice location"
First off, we had asked for an early check-in because we would be arriving in San Diego around 11:0am and they said it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived to the hotel around noon and they said our room was not quite ready but would be shortly. We went into town to waste time and arrived back at the hotel around 2:30pm. Our room was still not ready and […] we asked for a key to the pool. The pool is nice and served good food/drinks. We didn't get the call letting us know our room was ready until 3:50pm (normal check-in time is 4pm). The early-check in issue was a little frustrating. The room itself was okay- had a little smell to it (almost like mildew). The room was pretty spacious and had a nice patio. "AC was horrible."
Our rooms Air conditioner was awful, barely blowing any cool air. Maintenance arrived, but basically said the fans don't work well. (it seemed to be a common complaint) He did bring us a fan, but for the price of the hotel that was not a good answer. The room had a musty, moldy smell that continued through out our stay. "Great for Kids and Great Concierge Services"
Great location. So close to Sea World you can avoid par king hassles and instead take the water taxi from the hotel [$10 for adults and $5 for kids]. Conceirge service is outstanding. They can sell you tix to Sea World, Legoland, Zoo, etc., but internet prices are still better. What makes place great for kids is the three swimming pools, none deeper […] than 4 feet and the 3 water slides. The pool also has cabanas to rent. You can order lunch and drinks poolside too.
