"weekend in NYC"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Great location just off of 8th and 51stW. Very close to everything we wanted to see and visit. Hotel rooms are small but clean and do the trick. If you're planning on staying in the room often or have a ton of stuff you might want bigger rooms, but otherwise this is as good as you might expect from a hotel in this range. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
"Close to airport"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We were on our way home and stayed at this hotel because it was close to the airport and it provided a free shuttle. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful and even provided us with a morning snack as our flight left very early. The only negative was that the hotel did not have a restaurant and there did not appear to be any restaurants in the area. We had to walk to another hotel fairly close by for supper.

"Fantastic pick for a shopping trip!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This being my first trip to NYC, I wasn't sure where to even begin looking for hotels. My friends and I were looking for a nice hotel, with a good price point, in a central part of town. Wow did we ever pick the right choice with the Hilton on 35th. The check in process was quick and easy, and the service was fantastic. The employee's remembered us by name for the whole weekend, and provided excellent recommendations on restaurants and shopping locations. Speaking of shopping; what a fantastic area! There was shopping in any direction, lots of food, and right next to the subway if you want to take a hop to any other areas. The room itself was nice; nothing outrageous, but very clean and large for a hotel room in NYC. We were three people and there was plenty of room for our luggage and room to move around. We would 100% go back!

Ambassador Grill & Lounge - With mirror-lined walls and a prism-like ceiling, this dining room hosts buffet and à la carte breakfasts. An adjacent lounge serves cocktails and appetizers from midday until late night.
Leisure facilities make this hotel a standout. Located on the 27th floor, a heated indoor lap pool is framed by windows overlooking the East River, the city skyline, and the United Nations. The 39th floor houses Manhattan's first indoor tennis court in a hotel (surcharge). And who needs TVs on the cardio machines when the 24-hour fitness center features such stunning river views?

"Great for the UN"
A little isolated unless your business is with the UN. Very clean and perfectly located for that. Rooms very clean, but chairs or sofas are not as comfortable for reading and watching TV. All in all - a very nice hotel.

"Nice buy far from everything"
The person that checked me in was rude. The view was amazing but very far from everything. I wouldn't go back here again.
"Rumnod from Ottawa"
I thought that the rooms are looking a little tired. The place is due for a minor renovation with new carpets, paint and bathroom fixtures. Otherwise it is fine. Well located in an interesting neighbourhood. Competent staff, good restaurant
"Good location, Great Views!"
we really enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel during the Columbus Day long weekend. Upon entering the hotel you are immediately struck by the gem like mirrored interior. We chose a room with a city view on the 33rd floor - trust me, the views are some of the very best in the city and you can see all the way from the new Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan […] to Citigroup Tower to the north! The pool was located in the other tower and had 270 degree views facing out toward the East River. The room was comfortable and came with a nice kitchenette and a pleasant bathroom that picked up on the theme of mirrored surfaces from the lobby. The tv in our room had poor/fuzy sound quality and the fridge in the kitchen did not seem to be working. Luckily, neither of those things bothered us very much. We mainly just used the room to sleep and get some photos of the skyline without having to wait in line/pay at Empire State or Top of the Rock. The location was a bit away from the hustle and bustle and was generally a bit quieter and less congested than some of the more central locations. It was only about 5 blocks to Grand Central Station, though some days we were too tired to walk it and had to opt for a taxi. Getting the 2nd Ave subway completed would make this location more convenient. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and choose the river view next time. Cant wait to come back... Read more
"Millenium Hotel - Why can't hotels hire plumbers?"
This is a beautiful hotel, with friendly helpful staff, a short taxi from many prime destinations. The rooms are spacious and well designed but - can you believe it - the cold water tap was put in backward and the shower had been changed to a hand held device anchored about four feet from the tub floor so that if one wished to use it hands free one […] had to squat or bend fully at the waist. "Millennium UN Plaza New York"
The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. They gave us a nicer room on a corner however the glass countertop in bathroom had a huge crack right along it and was covered in "TAPE"!!! Size was very good for New York. Just a little too far from Times Square where our children wanted to spend most of the time.
"A wonderful staff"
I stayed at the Millennium UN Plaza New York for a long weekend with my wife and young daughter (17months). I was impressed by the warmth and generally good vibe of the staff, they seem to really enjoy their work and each other. I was met by a gentleman named Barry, who after meeting my family gave us a very serious upgrade from a standard room to […] a honeymoon suite with a panoramic view and a ton of room for a NYC hotel room! The pool is great, a good size for NYC and the room was very nice. thanks to Barry and the amazing staff, I will be staying there whenever I go to NYC Read more

"Millenium UN Hotel in NY"
First rate hotel for a more reasonable price than others. Large room, although the cot for the third person had a poor mattress. Quiet upscale neighborhood, great views, though you have to walk a bit to get to a subway stop. Reasonable restaurants and pubs nearby.
The Millennium UN Plaza New York - hidden oasis From the desk clerk who greeted us enthusiastically upon arrival to the bell captain who tirelessly hunted down cabs for us - all were cheerful and thoroughly professional. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and had a king-size bed. Throw in a spectacular view of the Chrysler building from the 38th floor […] as a bonus. One downside: a mysterious sludge that appeared in the bath just after someone in another room had bathed. And we did have to request a coffee maker and coffee. Read more
"Not a four star but definitely a three star"
Not a bad hotel, but we were surprised with the conditions of the hotel room itself. We weren't pleased with the room after the first night and asked to be switched to a different room, they gladly accommodated. Our second room was much better, but still not to the caliber of a four star rated hotel (it was mainly due to the conditions and cleanliness […] of the washrooms). The two best things about the hotel were the view from the rooms and the location. The service was excellent. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel as a four star option, but at a three star, i would definitely recommend it. Read more
"Millennium Hotel in newyork centre town"
The hotel was close to all must-see sights, it was really very nice and clean. I would definitly stay there again. The view was beautiful from my room I only wished they have a coffee machine and fridge in the room.

"Need for additional service"
I was unhappy to ahve to pay extra for Internet service. Most hotels include this in the room charge.
"Amazing views of NYC and East River"
Staff were very helpful and professional. Loved my room and the view was to die for. For NYC the rooms are large and the views cannot be equaled.
"Quiet and Comfortable"
The hotel is undergoing renovation on one side (no noise from this). This is the moment to stay here, as rates will go up significantly when it is done. The views are fabulous, and the beds are great. If you are arriving / departing from Grand Central, the location is perfect, as you can walk over. The staff is very helpful. There is a fee for wireless […] - just go to a nearby cafe. There are quick "special" buses up 1st ave and down 2nd ave if you walk to 42nd street (special means that they only stop every 10 blocks and are nearly as fast as a taxi- but you buy your ticket from a machine before getting on). The "special bus" makes this a great location for anyone who prefers bus to subway. Read more

"Huge let down"
It was the worse hotel experience ever, rooms were filthy, smelly and if not for the inconvenience to cost my family, we would have gone to another hotel. We will never go back or recommend this hotel to anybody.
Fantastic staff. In particularly the bell service was just outstanding. They were the most helpful and pleasant, we have ever met. Some of the rooms were in need of renovation. Then again that was taking place, but in no way disturbed us. Wonderful views to eastern part of Manhattan. Great experience overall

"ok but needs TLC"
This hotel is ok but could use some TLC. Rooms look and feel a little old. Great views of the city, though.

"Great hotel for the price and location"
This hotel is not near all the touristy areas, so it's quiet. It may take a little bit of a walk to get to the more happening areas, but there are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The rooms are a little on the small side, but a fabulous bathroom and view made up for it - plus, who stays in their room in NYC??? The bed was […] super comfy and the hotel seemed to have all the amenities necessary. Very clean, very quiet, very safe as well. All in all, saving money by staying at this hotel worked out perfectly - more money to spend in NYC, and more walking through wonderful NY neighborhoods. Would definitely stay again. Read more

"Millennium UN Plaza"
Generous rooms (for NYC) and fastidiously kept. The large bathrooms are wonderful. Only issue was that guest cannot change the room temp.
The service was fantastic, However, we found a hair in a towel. but overall the room was clean and veiw was great!
"Convenience and Comfort in One"
Very convenient to Grand Central and UN, and very comfortable.
"Millenium Comfort"
It was very comfortable. The gym/pool/sauna was awesome!
"Nice hotel"
Huge room, comfy bed. View was great! Can't wait to stay here again.

Nice hotel, very friendly staff. Our room was quite dated, and looked as if it needed a good cleaning. The first night was swelteringly hot and by the second day you couldnt even breathe in our room (and believe me I am Always cold!). I called the front desk and they did send a nice gentleman up to fix it. While he was working on it dust was flying […] everywhere. I forgot my daughters toothbrush and called the front desk who informed me they dont have complimentary toothbrushes but there was a drugstore down the street. Well it was almost midnight in NYC! Not only was I not going down the street alone, I was not leaving my kids in a hotel room alone, so I thought that was petty that they didnt even have a lousy toothbrush. Otherwise the hotel is nice and in a decent location. Read more
"A little shabby"
our room was shabby and was a little dirty. under the bed was dirty, bathroom door had a blood stain of some sort (thank goodness for clorox wipes) and lots of dust in the corners. Room service is pretty pricing, but there were some decent restaurants near by.Last thing, no free wireless which stunk. I probably would not stay there again, I expected […] more for what we paid and we only got the bare minimum. Read more
"Great Hotel"
Great location and views of the city and/or rivers.
"Millennium UN Plaza - love this place!"
I was reluctant to book this hotel as I normally stay closer to the theatre district, but am so glad I did! This is now one of my new "favorites"!
"Amazing!!"
The view was amazing on every floor...
"Millenium UN - Great for Business Travel"
My friend and I stayed here for only one night, but it was perfect for our needs. The room was very spacious with beautiful views of NYC. My only complaint about the room is that the bathrooms, while fairly roomy, are in dire need of renovation. I think I had the same bathtub in my house in the '70's. The hotel seems to cater to business travelers, […] mostly those who have business at the UN across the street, so if you're in the City to party, I don't think this is a good fit, but the location is superb, within walking distance of midtown. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Read more
"a little off the beaten track"
Fantastic hotel. Room was awesome although bathroom was a little behind the times. View over Manhatten was exquisite. For a weekend getaway it was a little far from subway stops. The hotel staff and service more than made up for the extra walking time.
"Short Stay - Great Bed"
We did not check into the hotel until midnight. We were told they did no have our room (2 double beds) and had to upgrade us to a "large suite." The suite was wonderful - 2 floors, 2 bedrooms, 3 baths and a view of the East River, Chrysler Building & Empire State Building. The beds were amazing and the linens very soft. The rooms appeared very clean. […] Most of the decor was a bit dated -- a dishwasher from the early 80s, mirrors along every wall, and desk and end tables that had seen better days. But the three flat screen tvs and wonderful beds made our one night stay perfect. Read more
"Great location"
If meeting for Business with Gov bodies no better place. Good Pool and facilities and very easy access. Be wary of extra charges, especially telephone in the room. Would /will go back
"Great Hotel!"
My room overlooked the UN... The hotel also had a great sym, sauna and pool... I did not get to use the tennis courts, but look forward to using them on a return trip...I enjoyed taking a night time stroll around the neighborhood....
"Millenium UN Plaza"
Excellent service in every respect. Feeling of total security.
"Horrible stay at the Millennium UN Plaza"
Myself and 3 friends stayed here and had a horrible experience. We booked this hotel for a girls weekend away and specifically sought it out because of the pool. The pool hours are listed on their site and were confirmed by the front desk but when we went to go swimming we were told the pool was closed for a birthday party and the staff member was very […] rude. We then called to talk to a manager. He informed us that the pool was closed (even though the website contradicted the hours he gave us) He was very rude and even yelled at us. Our bathroom was dirty. Dust and dirt the corners, there was also several different colors of human hair on the ceiling in the shower. Very poor experience, especially for the amount of money paid. Will never stay here again. Read more
"Good views. Hotel needs renovation"
We've stayed in this hotel for 3 night during our family vocation. The hotel is off the main attractions area and several blocks from nearest train station. But to compensate for that, there is a great view of low east part of Manhattan. Also this hotel has a good fitness facility and a swimming on 28th floor with a view. The rooms and hotels floors […] require renovations. The walls have spots and scratches. We've requested our room to be changed after first night due to very loud AC noise and small mold spots in the bathroom selling. The hotel staff was quick and helpful to change the rooms without any hassle. New room we've received had none of these issues mentioned above, but still had walls with spots and scratches. Overall, it's a good hotel with amazing views on Manhattan and friendly staff, just need to be renovated. Read more
"great staff and location"
Loved staying near the UN. Lobby and restaurant areas are very nice. Rooms could use some updating - gives the impression the room is not perfectly clean, although it was an issue of wear and tear rather than cleanliness. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had an issue with loss of electricity one morning. staff responded immediately and brought me […] a key to another room close by to shower. Read more
