"Liked the Hotel."Reviewed by Mack of "Ajax, Ontario" on Jan 29, 2012
No complaints about the Hotel or Staff. There is a nice 24 hr Deli across the road. Room was about what I expected for the price. The imediate neighborhood was a bit dirty but I felt safe enough. I wouldn't recomend it for families with young kids. I would stay there again. It's a bit old school but that was kid of cool too. I do Love NY.

It is well situated for one to get around New York.A short walk or cab ride, to most places that you would want to see in the City. For the "urbanite" the subway is about a block away. Only 6 stops from SoHo. To really enjoy this Hotel get the Bigger rooms/Business suites on the higher floors. Some of the views aren't great but the layout is worth the few extra dollars. F.G. "Nice buy far from everything"
The person that checked me in was rude. The view was amazing but very far from everything. I wouldn't go back here again.
"Rumnod from Ottawa"
I thought that the rooms are looking a little tired. The place is due for a minor renovation with new carpets, paint and bathroom fixtures. Otherwise it is fine. Well located in an interesting neighbourhood. Competent staff, good restaurant
"Good location, Great Views!"
we really enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel during the Columbus Day long weekend. Upon entering the hotel you are immediately struck by the gem like mirrored interior. We chose a room with a city view on the 33rd floor - trust me, the views are some of the very best in the city and you can see all the way from the new Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan […] to Citigroup Tower to the north! The pool was located in the other tower and had 270 degree views facing out toward the East River. The room was comfortable and came with a nice kitchenette and a pleasant bathroom that picked up on the theme of mirrored surfaces from the lobby. The tv in our room had poor/fuzy sound quality and the fridge in the kitchen did not seem to be working. Luckily, neither of those things bothered us very much. We mainly just used the room to sleep and get some photos of the skyline without having to wait in line/pay at Empire State or Top of the Rock. The location was a bit away from the hustle and bustle and was generally a bit quieter and less congested than some of the more central locations. It was only about 5 blocks to Grand Central Station, though some days we were too tired to walk it and had to opt for a taxi. Getting the 2nd Ave subway completed would make this location more convenient. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and choose the river view next time. Cant wait to come back... Read more
"Millenium Hotel - Why can't hotels hire plumbers?"
This is a beautiful hotel, with friendly helpful staff, a short taxi from many prime destinations. The rooms are spacious and well designed but - can you believe it - the cold water tap was put in backward and the shower had been changed to a hand held device anchored about four feet from the tub floor so that if one wished to use it hands free one […] had to squat or bend fully at the waist. "Millennium UN Plaza New York"
The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. They gave us a nicer room on a corner however the glass countertop in bathroom had a huge crack right along it and was covered in "TAPE"!!! Size was very good for New York. Just a little too far from Times Square where our children wanted to spend most of the time.
"A wonderful staff"
I stayed at the Millennium UN Plaza New York for a long weekend with my wife and young daughter (17months). I was impressed by the warmth and generally good vibe of the staff, they seem to really enjoy their work and each other. I was met by a gentleman named Barry, who after meeting my family gave us a very serious upgrade from a standard room to […] a honeymoon suite with a panoramic view and a ton of room for a NYC hotel room! The pool is great, a good size for NYC and the room was very nice. thanks to Barry and the amazing staff, I will be staying there whenever I go to NYC Read more

"Millenium UN Hotel in NY"
First rate hotel for a more reasonable price than others. Large room, although the cot for the third person had a poor mattress. Quiet upscale neighborhood, great views, though you have to walk a bit to get to a subway stop. Reasonable restaurants and pubs nearby.
The Millennium UN Plaza New York - hidden oasis From the desk clerk who greeted us enthusiastically upon arrival to the bell captain who tirelessly hunted down cabs for us - all were cheerful and thoroughly professional. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and had a king-size bed. Throw in a spectacular view of the Chrysler building from the 38th floor […] as a bonus. One downside: a mysterious sludge that appeared in the bath just after someone in another room had bathed. And we did have to request a coffee maker and coffee. Read more
"Not a four star but definitely a three star"
Not a bad hotel, but we were surprised with the conditions of the hotel room itself. We weren't pleased with the room after the first night and asked to be switched to a different room, they gladly accommodated. Our second room was much better, but still not to the caliber of a four star rated hotel (it was mainly due to the conditions and cleanliness […] of the washrooms). The two best things about the hotel were the view from the rooms and the location. The service was excellent. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel as a four star option, but at a three star, i would definitely recommend it. Read more

"Need for additional service"
I was unhappy to ahve to pay extra for Internet service. Most hotels include this in the room charge.
"good hotel"
It was a great hotel and a great experience. Great view, great pool, clean rooms. The receptionists could be more friendly and service-minded, they have to work on it more. Every time we had a particular question we experienced that the guy tried to get rid of us.Too bad that wifi is not included in the price. And the breakfast buffé pretty expensive, […] could be cheaper. Read more

"Exceptional Find!"
The UN Millenium Hotel is a rae gem located in the heart of New York City. The staff is exceptional, the quality of the hotel is great, and the experience will bring me back for years to come. It is quiet, the views from our room was beyond compare, and service was exceptional. The only suggestion I would have for the hotel staff is to improve the […] quality of the Internet in the business center. You need to have high speed internet - and the speed of the hotel's Internet service was 1990's "slow". Please get high speed access because when a guest in being charged $ 30.00 per hour for the use of the computer - it's offensive when it takes 45 minutes to send an email that should take no more than 3 minutes. Get the internet speed taken care of and I'll give this hotel 4 stars. Read more
"Millennium UN Plaza New York - a great choice"
For the price the UN Plaza Hotel is unbeatable. It is well positioned to reach the subway or even to walk to the major city sites. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Rooms are very neat and clean, although I think the place hasn't been rewired in 100 years. Had no problems with power, just looked old. I would stay there again.
"Christmas trip"
Hotel was comfortable and clean; however, it could use some updating. Good location.
"Excellent view, location & price."
Everything was just as described on the web-site. Only complaint would be that the first time we use the shower, the drainage was plugged, but that was fixed fast.
"millenium un in nyc"
I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again. The city skyline view at night is awesome, and the bed was very comfortable. I had read some reviews before selecting this hotel and honestly didn't see what some people complained of with my stay. The doorman and cool and he remembered me after only seeing me once the day before. The check in […] was smooth and the woman suggested the city view versus the river and I am so glad she did. "Hotel with great views"
The hotel is really lovely. The room was huge and the views, well.....the best. The staff was friendly and very helpful. our only concern is that the bathroom needs some serious updating and cleaning. There was mold growing under the grout on the tub. Also a lightening fixture was broken. That did not sit well with us. But, overall, we loved it!!!!
"Needs face lift"
The rooms need to be painted. Doors falling of cabinets. Bathroom needs a pint job and fixing up.
Nice hotel in very quiet weekend location. Not much atmosphere on weekends in bar though so we had to venture out into the cold night. Not the worse thing.

"Paid in advance reservation not honored."
I paid for a reservation for two rooms with king size beds and my rooms did not have any king size bed. Told the concierge and he said that they didn't have any more rooms available. It was night and the valet already had taken my car in the garage. Then the concierge said that he could offer me two other rooms. Those other rooms had a strong odor of […] cigarettes. I had to remove some cigarette butts left by previous occupants. My wife and I don't smoke and it really bothered us. At that hour of the night what else could I do? my kids were tired and sleepy. A feeling of frustration and guilt for failing my family invaded my thoughts. Read more

"Breathtaking views"
The gentleman at the front desk was very kind! He accommodated my party of 7 perfectly. I just wish I had more nights to enjoy the view of the Brooklyn bridge and downtown views on the 3000th floor ;) I will be back.
"Great Overnight Stay!"
Celebrating our 31st, my wife and I spent the night in Manhattan to catch a broadway show. Great stay in a quiet setting (compared to Times Square area) across from UN with great views of river and mid-town NYC. Just a short taxi ride to broadway/Times Square. Friendly staff and enjoyable room service. A good value.
"Millennium UN Plaza - nice weekend stay"
I stayed here with my wife and two children on a Saturday night, after a Broadway matinee and with further city plans on Sunday. The location is great if you're looking for something a bit quieter than the busy midtown/theater district. It's a quick cab ride to Times Square, or even a decent walk if you're a walker. There are a few restaurants, grocery […] stores, etc. on 2nd Ave. and we found a Le Pain Quotidian 2 blocks up on 3rd and 44th for breakfast. We had a fabulous view from the 37th floor looking north past the UN and up the East River, and a very nice room with plenty of space. Two minor issues were resolved quickly and politely. A little bit of dirt in the bathtub when we checked in was taken care of by the maid when we were out for the afternoon. Also, I asked upon check-in for a roll-away bed for one of our kids, and the front desk person politely explained that in that size room, it was against the fire code, which I accepted. But after seeing that there was really plenty of space between the 2nd bed and the window (and really wanting that extra bed), I asked later in the day (a different desk clerk) and a roll-away was sent up right away. (I held no grudge against the first desk clerk - she was just doing her job, but it does sometimes pay to be persistent.) Highly recommended. Read more
"Simply Amazing"
From check in to check out My wife and I's experience with this hotel was amazing. The surrounding neighborhood was great. The condition of the hotel was great and the room had a view to die for. Definitely one of the best hotel experiences we have had.
"January 2012 in NYC"
Hotel was a bargain, although a few blocks out of the area we wanted to visit -- museums, etc., but the view from the room made up for the need to take taxis most everywhere we wanted to go in the really cold and windy weather. Have stayed here many times in the late 1990's and the major changes are the limited times that the then-famous Ambassador […] Grill was open for meals, and the non-existent, famous Sunday Brunch. "Millennium Plaza - great experience"
I booked this room for one night. I got one on the 36th floor overlooking the East River and Queens. The room was spacious and had a mini kitchen and large bath. It was much larger than other NYC hotels I have stayed at. The location of Midtown east is also perfect.
"Amazing View"
The view from the fitness center and the rooms are awesome. There is nothing wrong with the rooms, they are a little small but you are supposed to go out on the town anyway. The beds are not high quality but they are not bad. I did not like the bathtub and the shower, I truly feel like they should upgrade or remodel the bathroom. It was clean however. […] The customer service was not bad, you are greeted at the door with a smile and checking in is very quick. I loved the pool and the fitness center. It is located close to enough things so you can really just get out, walk, and enjoy NY. Read more

"Millenium UN Plaza"
My family and I stayed from Dec. 24-27th. The hotel staff was very accommodating to our needs. We stayed on the 37th floor with amazing views of the city! And located close to Rockefeller Center and Central Park. However, we did take a taxi to Times Square because our little guy (5yrs. old) couldn't handle the walk. The rooms are very old and outdated. […] Stains on the carpet, old wood closet doors, bad paint job, ceiling panels were off and exposed, safe does not work and I noticed dust in the bathroom with urine stains around the bowl. Which they re-cleaned after a call to house keeping.Lamp shades to close to the bed so every time you got up you couldn't help but knock the lampshades off. I would not recommend eating at the Ambassador (in hotel) their prices are absolutely ridiculous. There is a restaurant called Johns right down the street open 24 hours with affordable pricing that delivers for free. The perks was the city view and the oh so comfy king size bed. So if you could look past the outdated room then I would recommend this hotel. The staff was a pleasure to our needs! Read more
"millenium UN"
Amazing views of the city from a large comfortable room. "Underneath", the hotel shows it's age, but it was well maintained. Shower "heat" wasn't great, and the front desk staffing was a little thin. Overall it was a good choice.
"Millenium Hotel at United Nations"
The only good thing about this hotel was the view. All rooms start on the 24th floor so the view of the river and NY skyline was lovely. However the service was far less than expected from a hotel of this caliber and price. We clearly booked our room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The double beds would not sleep 2 people. I was unable to get a rollaway […] thus had to move to a king room. Pool was cold, room service for breakfast was cold and we had to call 3 times to get our order delivered completely. Then we had to wait 45 minutes to get our car from the valet. Only one person working the front desk during a busy holiday weekend lead to a line. Hotel is very outdated and appears dirty since the rooms have not been renovated in what seems like 30 years. Read more
"The Millenium UN Plaza, NYC"
We arrived early at 11:00 AM and were told our room wasn't ready-check in is at 3:00. But a queen room was ready and they offered it to us. I asked if it had a good view and was told it did. Since we wanted to get out into the city, we took it. It turned out to be a beautiful room with a fantastic view of the river AND the city. It was amazing at night! […] The bed was great, the staff was great, the hotel is beautiful and not too far from Rockefeller(we walked) or Times Square. We did need to take a cab from Penn Station and to the 911 Memorial, but it wasn't that big of a deal-we would really love to go back. Also, we went swimming on the 27th floor with the pool surrounded by glass walls-great views! We had breakfast in the hotel and it was very good-NYC prices, of course! Would highly recommend this hotel! Read more
"Millennium UN Plaza New York - great value"
This was formerly a Park Hyatt property. Really great place - neighborhood (across the street from the UN), lobby, workout facility and large pool (both w/ river views), fairly large room, comfortable beds, clean. The only downside was the bathroom, which was in need of repair. But the relatively poor bathroom was more than offset by the low price of […] the room. I would definitely go back. "Old"
Very outdated needs maintenance but nice staff
"UN Plaza"
Initial room was small, w/smaller bed than reserved. Distinct odor of cigarette smoke in the room, though we were promised it was a non-smoking room. Lamps did not work properly, and despite calls, no one came to fix. Keys would not work in door - turns out door lock was broken - after waiting 2 hrs for Security to address, we requested a new room. […] Desk clerk replied, "Well, we ARE full tonight" (this was at 4 pm). Finally, after I got testy, they provided a new room. Second room was fine - larger, correct sized bed, no odors. Stay would have been fine if not for initial room unpleasantness. Also - tiny gift shop in the lobby seems to be open at the whims of the single counter clerk. She closed the place more in the span of 2 hrs that it was open. If she had that many pressing concerns OUTSIDE the gift shop, shouldn't they man it with two people?? Read more
"Clean, easy, value"
By far the largest hotel room I've had in NYC. Two double beds with lots of space to move around -- and a great view, to boot. Decor is dated and it's a little bit off the main path, but a great value and perfect for a weekend in the city, when you spend little time in the room, anyway. Great concierge and a nice rooftop pool. Didn't eat or drink onsite. […] Would stay here again. Read more
