"Good location, old part of hotel is outdated"
The location of this hotel was ideal for my business at UNICEF, however the hotel itself was mediocre. The room was old and outdated, and not particularly clean. And internet was $12.95 per day per device! Guest services personnel were very helpful and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel location in NYC -"
Hotel was great, staff superb, great lounge area & breakfast dining room. Perfectly a few blocks away from noisy Times Square area , near Rockerfeller Center. A corner store a half block up (to bring goodies back to room) and great Irish place (delicious food and great price) nearby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Eh. Not great for a 4 star hotel."
I would expect a 4 star hotel to be in much better condition. I found the room dingy and in poor repair. The bathroom walls were scratched and stained with makeup (hopefully), the caulking in the tub was messy and looked dirty. The showerhead was mediocre at best. The carpet and walls were untidy at the edges, making it seem like someone did a shoddy […] job when they "remodeled" the room. The windows were dirty looking and old. The worst part was the heating unit. The unit was either on or off, there was no way to set it to turn on when the room was cold and off when it was warm. The constant rattling and blowing air was incredible disruptive. Several times I had to climb on a chair to adjust the vent cover so it would stop rattling. The main reason I chose this hotel was for the swimming pool, I was hoping to swim laps in the mornings and evenings. Unfortunately the hours of the pool made it impossible for me to use it even once. The pool doesn't open until 7 in the morning, isn't open at lunch time, and closed at either 6 or 7 in the evening each weeknight. Though my room was supposed to have a coffee maker, I had to ask for one to be sent up, and there was no where easy to plug it in. The service never refilled the coffee packets (I was there for 5 days) and I had to call to have it sent up each day. Finally, the ice machine was broken, so each night I had to ask for ice to be brought to my room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very good hotel for the price. Good location. Nice gym with a view.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stay on the top floors. The view (if you are not fogged in) is fantastic. Room was quite large.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good for the business traveller"
The hotel is well suited to the business traveller but not so well suited for family leisure travel. The reception desk and bell service were excellent but the concierge service left a little to be desired. The Hotel Duty Manager very calmly, professionally and quickly managed feedback we provided over a concern and offered an excellent resolution.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance to Times Square, Fifth Ave, and other tourist attractions. It's also has a convenient bus stop for public transportation and sight seeing tour across the street at the UN. The hotel is split into two towers, one which has a higher cost but offers breakfast and WiFi. The lower cost tower was […] nice and offerred a great skyline view, to include the Chrysler and Empire State buildings. The room was decent, poorly updated, but served it's purpose. The concierge resolved our transportation issues and questions, but made you feel like they were doing you a favor instead of a service. Ohh, don't ask for extra pillows, the response was not nice!! I did not like two things in the hotel. First there was no refrigerator in the room. I need to refrigerate a medication. I was frustrated I could not do so. Second the accounting of incidental expenses was extremely confusing and the cashier was unwilling to clarify the situation. I still do not know how much will be charged to my credit card.Genuine Expedia guest review
We reserved a corner room and paid a premium. When we checked in, we went up to our room to discover it was not a corner room. Back down to the front desk. Told the only corner rooms available are smoking BUT if we pay $80/ night more we could get a corner room in the West Tower that included other amenities (continental breakfast, Wi-Fi, etc.). We […] are tired and agree. Take the elevator to our new room and guess what? It is still NOT a corner room. Back down again. Finally get a corner room. Great views but noisy, more $ than we expected and the free breakfast is standing room only. This hotel has great views and is in a nice neighborhood but this experience means we will not be staying there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good experience"
The hotel staff was outstanding. They could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The hotel is a bit tired and could use some updating, but our room had a fabulous view of the East River and 1st Ave. The neighborhood is pleasant with plenty of eating and drinking establishments. For the price this hotel is hard to beat.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel for the price"
Nice hotel in Midtown East. It's a pretty big hotel, lots of rooms. My flight arrived at 9am and they let us check in early which was awesome. The rooms have a great view of the city but no mini bar or fridge. Seems like they cater to the business people that visit the UN right next door. We were happy with our stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Awesome hotel staff, great location. Only one critique--the room didn't have a coffee maker! We did call for one to be delivered, and they delivered it quickly, but did not refill the contents the following days of our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice hotel for a stay of a few days"
This is a beautiful hotel directly across the street from the United Nations. The hotel portion is on the top 12 floors, so the views are simply spectacular! The room was a bit sparse, with only a bed and sofa. It made watching TV or reading a bit awkward. The hotel was in very good condition, but there were telltale signs of neglect, like the ceiling […] coping in the shower, and the makeshift handle bolted onto the closet door. My biggest gripe, however, is that Internet service is a small fortune: $12.99 PER DEVICE! I simply used the private hotspot feature of my phone and avoided the fees altogether. "Great hotel away from the holiday crowd"
Well within walking distance to all key holiday locations and attractions yet totally away from the packed streets and crowds. Easy access to the subways so travel is very convenient to any part of the city.Genuine Expedia guest review
"very expensive and not really worth it.."
WIFI was extra cost and not included in the room tariff, staff were not very couteous. a bottle of water ordered from my room costed USD 17. when i returned it, it still showed up on my bill..Although the size of the room was fine, overall experience not really greatGenuine Expedia guest review
"Enjoyed great views on 36th floor facing downtown"
All good including considerate staff acroos the board. Good for professioanls and small families. A bit isolated but can be a good thing, if you are a walker. Highly recommend at pricing below $275.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great potential if the service was better"
The building is great. The rooms are nice. The service has a lot to be desired. They "upgraded us for an $80 fee to a renovated room. The problem when we got there was that it wasn't 2 queens for us and our 7 year old as we had reserved. It was one king. They fixed it, but we spent a couple of hours checking in for a holiday weekend in NYC instead of […] getting right out to the sights. Also, the valet told us to call down to have our car brought around but when we tried to they said we had to come down to the lobby with the ticket and wait 25 minutes when they bring the car around each time. We received different messages regarding service policies all over the place and the manager didn't care one bit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I worked out for our trip"
the staff was very polite and helpful...they are doing renovations and I was offered an upgrade to one of the newer rooms, it would have cost more...our room was fine, comfortable beds...had a bit of trouble figuring out the thermostat, so it would be either too hot or too cold....the carpet was really terriblely stained, I would not suggest going barefoot […] in that room, but I have to say that by New York hotel rooms go, it was very spacious, a plus as I there were 3 of us in the room....the location of the hotel feels a bit off the beaten path...overall I would consider staying there again,,,,i mean when you are in New York, how much time do you spend in your room. Upon arrival, there were dirty dishes in the room left over from the last guests. After calling the front desk several times without any one answering I visited the front desk. When returning after being out all day, the dishes were still there. I complained the next day and new coffee cups were delivered but there was no coffee for coffeemaker. I called […] and again no answer at front desk. After visit to front desk, I went out all day. When I returned to the room, there were no coffee cups and no coffee. "Very clean & lots of room for a NYC hotel!"
We had 3 of us staying in a king size room, we also used a cot for # 3. The room was very modern & clean I was very, very pleased considering a NYC hotel. The room was also very big for all of us to have our corner with our bags & we never felt like we were on top of each other. Every staff member we meet was very kind and helpful. I would totally stay […] at this hotel again. It's several blocks to the nearest subway stop but we mostly took taxis everywhere. I'm so pleased with this hotel price & clean & comfort. We were on the 33 floor and had a wonderful view of the empire state building and the new freedom tower at ground zero. We could also see the east river from the reflection of the nearby building. I fell asleep every night looking at the empire state building with all its Christmas lights. I couldn't have asked for more!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice basic room."
Very unspectacular furniture. Looked like basic stuff from IKEA. Bed, desk, chair. View was Amazing fro room 2927 of East River and part of downtown. Pool hours were terrible: 11 to 2 and 3 to 5... No visitor, business or pleasure could possibly find those hours reasonable... Almost a waste to have it. We are spoiled by Disney experiences and this […] did not hold up, except for most of the staff. Parking was not included in the room charge, which was a $63 per day surprise. "Comfortable/No Frills in Midtown NYC"
We stayed in the east tower in a double room that was surprisingly large. We had a great view of New York City and were within walking distance to several subway stations and lots of shopping and restaurants. The hotel was definitely no-frills--there were four of us and I had to ask for additional towels and pillows; the ice buckets were cardboard; […] and there was no coffee or refrigerator in the room. The newly renovated west tower is much nicer with lots of extras, but at a much higher cost. All-in-all, it was okay for what we paid. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I stay here often. If the front desk worked better this would be a much better hotel. It is never easy to check in or out. Picking up a parked car can require an act of congress .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First trip to NY and therefore first hotel we visited in this beautiful city. We do not liked the hotel, quite old and poorly maintained, looks like 80, the staff was nice, some more friendly than others. the rooms were very large, more than we expected but they were not very clean or cute. Housekeeping was very poor, always leave containers with ice […] on the room, which in other hotels they take everything out and leave all new and clean and the shower was super dirty, it was scary and disgusting use. The other think that i really hate about this hotel is that they charge for internet per day for each device, like 12US$ per day or something like that, that embarrassing, even a more economical hotels like Hilton Garden give you free internet, come on we are in 2013, even Starbucks gives free wifi! We dont like this hotel, we do not recommend this hotel, it was not the worst experience but for the cost is not worth it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"DO NOT USE SUPERSHUTTLE"
Hotel was good. It was the Supershuttle that was the most horrible experice of my life. Shuttle didn't pick us up till 2 hrs after we arrived at newark airport. We keeped calling dispatch who kept lieing to us saying shuttle is 5 min away. The next day to leave to Boston, the driver from supershuttle fought verbably with me because he woudn't pick us […] up at the front door, not alone that he was at the wrong hotel. "Quiet hotel away from high traffic avenues."
Beautiful hotel on west tower looking at Empire state building and other building in the area. Spectacular view on the 34th floor. Greeted my wife and myself with high regard. Room was beautiful and extremely clean. Raquel at the front desk was very polite and warm hearted. A bit expensive but it's worth it once a year.Genuine Expedia guest review
Charge for Internet, boo. And bad Internet, kept disconnecting. And they charge separately for each device. Even the digital tv had problems with several channels being out of sync.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a return one night stay for us at this convenient, well maintained hotel. The indoor pool on the 27th floor is a big attraction for us. Nice, terry robes were sent to the room upon request. My only suggestion is that there would be a nice mirror in the bedroom area. The only mirrors are in the bathroom.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a corner room with a double bed on the 30th floor. The view was spectacular!!! Empire State Bldg on one side and the east river on the other!! Nice cool weather the weekend of Veterans Day. Staff was friendly and pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good hotel"
My family (2 adults, 2 children) stayed one night at the hotel. The bellman and doorman were great. They helped us graciously any time we needed help and even sometimes when we didn't. They were always friendly. The concierge wasn't as friendly or helpful, but I am not sure there was anything she could have done with the questions we asked of her. Check-in […] and out was a bit slow, but not horrible. The elevators, which others complained about with previous posts, were fairly fast and I had no issues, even though we stayed on the 31st floor. The pool is smaller than it appears in the online pictures, however the 180 degree view is amazing and more than makes up for it. The gym is pretty good also and views from some of the equipment are tremendous. I didn't see any water in the gym, which was a small downside. The buffet breakfast at the Ambassador Grill is good quality, but it is fairly pricey ($32 adults, $16 children). The location isn't bad, but its a bit of a walk (20 minutes) to midtown attractions. The room was nice and the view was awesome. The room service for breakfast was right in time. However the food was just ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Other than the location and the view, I can think of no reason to ever go back to One UN. from the desk clerks to the people working in the restaurant and everyone in between, disinterested is the word that keeps coming to mind. People who aren't interested or prepared to provide even a modicum of good service should not be working in the hospitality […] industry. Our experience was so far below any other hotel experience that we've ever had. So, other that the location and the view i would not recommend One UN. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We got to hotel well before check in and expected to just check our luggage with the bellman and return for check in later - but the front desk (Barry) found an available room early that was actually an upgrade over my booking so we got in early, and got a room with a fantastic view!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice view; quiet; roomy. Friendly staff."
My friends and I were looking forward to using the indoor pool, but the pool/health club hours were tourist unfriendly. We will not come back here if we are looking for health club relaxation after a long day of walking and shopping in the City. We were so disappointed! We packed but never had a chance to put on our pretty bathing suits (rats!)Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient but in need of upgrade"
This hotel is close to Grand Central and the east river. It allowed us great access in and out of the city. I enjoyed the professionalism and courtesy provided by hotel staff. We were pleased with the stay mostly because of the truely priceless view of the Manhattan skyline. The bathroom was outdated. I liked the modern furniture and minimalism, but […] the carpet was worn, the hallways needed a coat of paint and the bed creaked when you rolled over. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
