"Great for Adults not so good families"
The hotel is on a prime spot on Waikiki beach for beach goers. It has decent shops compared to most of the hotel on this part of Waikiki and is a easy walk to many local spots. I had young children with me and while they catered to the kids with beach toys towels and other amenities, there was no family restaurants nearby or child friendly activities […] or babysitters available. "Nice, but expensive"
Noises definitely travel throughout the hallways, so I had a difficult time sleeping. Especially when there were little screaming kids in the hall or slightly tipsy people coming back from a night out in Waikiki. Also the walls and doors are very thin, so you can hear everything. The doors also close very loudly. The room was a nice room, but nothing […] to rant and rave about. The concierge staff was very accommodating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Just okay and expensive..."
The rooms are pretty standard hotel rooms. This hotel is older and the rooms don't match the standards of newly built hotels. The rooms could also do with some freshening. As in other hotels I have stayed at in Hawaii, there is often an afternoon or evening show in the open air lobby that means you cannot sleep with the patio doors open. The wait at […] the elevators was sometimes long. I appreciate this hotel's location and the staff were pleasant, particularly the valet staff. They made sure to send us off each day with water and beach towels and warmly greeted us upon return. The swimming pool was small and full of kids playing. If you are looking for a resort style pool, book somewhere else. $35 daily for parking plus a daily $25 resort fee on top of the nightly rate is excessive. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel really is in a great location, convenient to all the shopping/dining/nightlife of Waikiki. We chose it because it was billed as a resort/spa. Unfortunately, we later learned the prices of the spa were outrageous ($500 for a 2 hour massage, etc). Also, the pool was super tiny. I guess they did not feel the need to build a nice pool since they […] are across the street from Waikiki beach. The room was fare enough, and the staff was very professional & courteous. "If sleep isn't important then stay here!"
Although we had great service (eddie and colin at the pool, as well as servers) and a beautiful view from our room, we found it very difficult to sleep. It sounded as if the people above us kept opening and slamming their sliding glass door throughout the night. We called security a number of times on a few different days/eves. They came in to our room […] in the middle of the night the last night of our stay and they said that they thought that the high winds, were the cause of the noise/door slamming we kept hearing. They tried a temporary fix with our door, but we could still hear it from above throughout the rest of the night. We were in room 2463. The experience of these loud obtrusive sounds, unfortunately, overshadowed the positive aspects of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa Aloha, Thank you for the feedback. We will be sure to share your compliments with our staff at the pool and for the dining services. We do regret that your stay was disruptive. We did have unseasonably high winds in February and being on the 24th floor you probably did experience some disturbances. "Loud, aging, and crowed."
This hotel need to be updated in a big way. While the hotel and more importantly the rooms apper to be clean. They are aging and look well worn. The AC does not work very well and can take hours to cool your room. If you are on a lower floor be prepared as Waikiki is VERY loud. At night the streets fill with tourist and street hustlers and preformers […] and the noise fills the air. If you are looking for a quite relaxing hotel, this isn't it! But then again, all of Waikiki isnt for you either. The room service is poor, and over priced (but what hotel isn't!) I would stay else where Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worse hotel experience for a long while"
They put us in a room next to the elevator shaft and every time the elevator moves, it sounded like a train has passed by, so by all means DO NOT stay in one of these rooms. After me complaining to the staff, they moved us to another room but the heater wasn't working in that room. I know this is Hawaii so why do we need heaters. Well I have an 18 months […] old with me and even though they set the thermostat to 72, there was no hot air coming up so the room turned out to be around 69 degrees when we arrived. I complained about the a/c to the staff but nothing was done to fix it. So I improvised by turning on the hot shower full blast and used the steam to heat the room up. Overall, this is one of the worse hotel experience I have ever had and never again will I stay at this very same Hyatt hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We asked for ocean view, which was a great view, however, the noise level was so high, it was never a good night sleep. We were on the 8th floor. There was a lot of noise- and it was not from the streets. This was my only problem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel in Waikiki"
We spent a week here in Dec. 2012 and it was excellent. Great location, great service. We also had a great ocean view from the 28th floor. Rooms are very nice and well kept. Before going I had read that the elevators could be crowded and wait times were sometimes long at peak hours. There was one fluke occassion where it took about 10 minutes. I didn't […] find the elevator to be a big issue. They have 2 car rental companies within the hotel also. Another convenient thing was the Expedia desk that was very helpful and where we went to book activities. Only real negative was the 2 main restaurants are pricey but there are plenty of other options nearby. Also, the pool is small and crowded. Overall this is a terrific hotel. "Best location on Waikiki"
We stayed for a week and loved the location! Right on the main street across from Waikiki Beach and a few blocks from many high end shops and great restaurants- just perfect! I had tea every morning in the Libby, where the girl at Kimobean always remembered my order, and drank it on the beach. I had an eyebrow shaping at the spa which was expensive […] but worth it. A nice treat is the expedia desk so we were able to book a tour of Pearl Harbor and a luau right in the lovely lobby. "Think "Hliday Inn," not "Hyatt Regency""
The rooms are poorly furnished and arranged: one easy chair, one hard desk chair, a small desk up against the wall and a small buffet with an ancient LG TV on top, a small refrigerator below, a safe, and three small drawers. That’s it for drawers. There is a small closet. Apart from the bed and side table, that is it for furniture. You can’t unpack […] most of your suitcase because of the limited storage. If you order room service you’ll be eating with the plate on your knees. Want to watch TV? You’ll have to lie on the bed, because there is nowhere to sit in view of the TV. Glassware consists of two small glasses in the bathroom. There is a one-cup coffee machine with paper cups provided. Towels are Holiday Inn-style: thin and cheap. No bathrobes. Single-ply toilet paper. The pool area is small, and the pool itself is not much more than a “plunge pool.” There are 20 or 30 loungers in the pool area with stained cushions. The poolside bar is so bare and uninviting and empty all of the time. The main restaurant is the same—large, unadorned, cold and usually empty. If you want to connect to the internet, make sure you are in a room where the wifi signal is strong enough to be usable. The front desk staff know where they are. Unlike all other Hyatt Regency hotels I’ve seen, the lobby has nowhere to sit. I mean that literally. I have only three good things to say about the Hyatt. It has a great location, it's scrupulously clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK atmosphere & accomodations - if you like smoke"
The room was supposed to be non-smoking and "pure" certified. However, the room smelled stale, musty, and smoky. In fact we had to complain sever times and were eventyally given a noisy air purifier. Our situation could be unique or maybe we are just "sensitive" to smoke, but it was pretty bad, even as you got off the elevator and walked down the halls. The […] majority of staff were nice, but not really interested in solving the problem. The only good news was that at checkout I was refunded half of the mandatory "resort fee." I would have preferred to pay it all and not deal with the problem, but hey - something is better than nothing. Most likely will not stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Noise from every direction"
The hotel is noisy enough to rob visitors of sleep. Some noises are design issues & some are location, but the most disappointing ones are the noises that would be easy & economical to resolve & they just have decided not to do it. With 1400 units, it's a $100M operation. They could easily resolve the issues we're referring to. We've stayed in much […] quieter hotels in Waikiki for less money. They told us the average visitor comes from Japan and stays just 3-4 nights. The staff at the front desk, management & middle-management levels may be accustomed to telling people what they think they want to hear & then they're gone, but we had an extended stay, so our complaint did not go away so easily. We should have changed hotels after 2-3 nights. We got only 2 nights sleep out of 29 nights. We wouldn't stay in a room there again if they offered the room for half the price. "Great hotel for couples"
We enjoyed the adult atmosphere of this Waikiki beach front hotel . The restaurants and pool area were more "couple" friendly than other hotels we have stayed at in Hawaii. The only thing disappointing was the lack of a dresser and drawers in the sink area to store makeup and toiletries. Better points: More shops and restaurants are available inside Hotel. Japanese language is supported and hotel location is convenient for first time visitors. "its just ok"
Overall, the hotel is decent and fine. Its pretty basic. I would not consider it extrondinary. Great view of the ocean. My biggest gripe with the hotel is the fact that the tower that I stayed in had 4 elevators but no more than 2 were ever working (if that many). Almost every day I felt like I was in disney world in line for a ride. Loooong queues. […] At one point, one of the staff took us up on the freight elevator because everyone were waiting so long. Forget, trying to get on to do down in the mornings. The other problem was the waterfall inside the hotel. Lovely and all but it makes the ground into a pool and there isn't a whole lot of room to walk around it. Its a lawsuit waiting to happen. For the price I paid I could have stayed at a Ritz Carlton in many many other holiday destinations. Of course its the location and supply and demand that dictates the price so *shrug*. But if I'm going to spend that much I mind as well stay in a 5 star hotel and pay slightly more and be right on the beach rather than across the street. Not likely to return. "Excellent hotel for all occasions"

Response by Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa We regret that you had such an unfortunate visit at our property. It is very hard to understand the circumstances of your check-in situation such as the reason for the delay, why you were forced to stay in the lobby - usually if a room is delayed we offer to call the guest so they do not have to wait. It is also unclear why you were unable to get the room view you had booked. We have shared your comments with our management team. We do regret that your experience with us was not better. Mahalo
"Roomy and great hotel for everyone!"
The hotel, as typical of Hyatt, is kept extremely clean. It smells and looks clean! Wear is starting to show. However, maintained very well. The only issues that we had in the room was that the bathroom did not have a ceiling fan and no vanity mirror. The lighting was not that great by the sink area either. Minor things, but for some it would suffice. […] Most of the valet staff and the information and assistance at the Expedia tour desk added to a pleasurable stay. It was conveniently located across the street from Waikiki beach, a couple of blocks from the International Marketplace and tons of shops and restaurants. The atrium shops on the 1st and 2nd floor of the hotel also had nice shopping, but a little expensive for the average shopper. Definitely would stay there again if we returned to Waikiki. If you are not one for the hustle and bustle of a "big city" and "touristy" area, this is not the hotel for you. You can manage at the Hyatt without a car if you intend to use the tour desk or just walk around locally. There is a Hertz and Budget car rental located on the 2nd floor of the hotel and an Enterprise just around the corner if you were interested in taking a tour around the island on your own for a day or too. Valet does get a bit pricey, but parking is limited throughout the downtown area and also expensive. There is a lot of traffic in the area and Waikiki in general. "Would stay there again"
I enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki. Upon arrival, it was confusing to me as to how to find the registration desk (up an escalator, and walking through some winding walkways in front of shops.) There was no one there to guide me and little signage. I did see staff helping others in later days, so perhaps I just arrived at a bad time. My view […] of the ocean was fabulous. Connecting to the Internet required a call to the help desk. I am usually able to manage these things on my own. However, the help was readily available, polite and effective. The room was quite clean though, overall, I felt the furnishings had seen some wear. Very rarely was there a wait for the elevators, and when there was a wait, it was very brief. The Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa is a very tired hotel in need of renovation. The rooms are a nice size but are very dated. The bathrooms need reconfiguring. At present the single basin and mirror is in a space that is open to the bedroom and is carpeted. The first room we were given abutted the elevator shaft and was extremely noisy. There is only […] one pool that is very small and is used by all the guests in the two 40 level towers. It is not on the beach and therefore use lounge chairs need to be rented from beach vendors. The staff and service at the hotel is excellent. They are able to meet customer's needs. However, the soundproof of the building is very poor, you can always hear people close doors loudly when they get in and out. I even heard the noises from usptairs when someone tried to push things around. I think Hyatt needs to do something for the soundproof.
