Millennium Gloucester Hotel London Kensington - London

The hotel is right next to the Gloucester Road tube station (Circle, District and Picadilly lines), so it was easy to get just about anywhere in London by the Underground. The room was good sized (about 300 square ft) with a good sized bathroom and in good repair. Housekeeping was quick to clean the room. Definitely recommended.

Located just outside the Gloucester tube stop, on the circle line which is connected to every major place you would want to go in London if visiting the sites. I would be sure to ask for a no-smoking floor if you're from the US, as we no longer have smoking floors here but apparently they do there. I had moved hotels to stay at the Millennium and was so disapointed. My company had stayed there in the past and we have always used this hotel but it was an awful experience this last time. When I checked in my room had been given away and all they had left was a twin bed. The first room they gave me was a smoking room when specific requests had been […] made about non-smoking. Last year my wife and I experienced poor service in a poor quality room at the Milennium Gloucester. This year the experience was excellent. We got a very good room and enjoyed our 5 night stay very much. The service this time around was excellent and we will return to the Milennium during our next visit to London.

In the first room I was allocated, the heating didn't work! After I was relocated all was fine. Overall the stay was very good. My only negative comment is the high price for Wi-Fi service. It is a utility like water, heating and electricity. In this day and age it should be free of charge.

Really enjoyed our stay. My fiancé was sick when we arrived and they let us check in early so she could rest. Staff was very pleasant and hotel was nice, especially the doorman, set up reservations for dinner and everything. Only drawback is Internet access. They charge a lot of money for it.

The location is 1 block off of the subway in a great neighborhood. The room didn't have any device that told time (a clock, or time on the tv) which seemed a little odd. The hotel was ok but not that great for the price compared to others I've stayed at. The Ac didn't work properly, the rooms were not cleaned properly until I asked them to re-clean. Came in early, room not ready but volunteered to convert twin room to double. Heat was off (doing upgrades on thermostats) and put floor heater in room. No hairdryer and delivered very quickly. Had not stayed here in awhile and found staff very helpful and courteous.

Room very dark - not able to work well on laptop in the evening. You need alot more lamps in these rooms. Plus many of the light blubs in bathroom were out. No washcloths half of the days I was there. No heat in the room and it was quite cold in the evening and at night - there should have been heat!

We arrived on Thursday. Asked for a recommendation for lunch and was told to go to the Hotel Bailey which apparently they own. The service was awful, really bad attitude and the food was pricey and mediocre. Learned later that we could have gotten sandwiches in the bar for a lot less and probably better tasting. Friday we were out for over 7 hours, […] returning after 5 pm. Neither of our rooms had been cleaned. The front desk people, especially the manager, were rude and less than helpful. The manager told me that I had no right to expect my room to be cleaned by a certain time - I said that I just wanted it cleaned. He told me that they clean rooms until 11 pm. After a discussion of 10 minutes, I told him that the conversation and he were useless. He came after me at the elevator and told me that a woman of my age (I am 66) should not talk that way and told me I should be ashamed of myself. I never used any foul language nor did I scream at him. My daughter's room faced the street and the noise on the 4th floor made it difficult to sleep. Ours faced the back and was quiet. Bathrooms have a door stop that is awkward location and both of us injured our toes on it. Only mirrors are in the bathroom or behind a chair not useful to getting ready. Lighting is also not very good. All and all a big disappointment. We stayed in much nicer and lower priced hotels in London in the past. Read more

No real complaints. It was a bit hard to control the temperature, the air conditioning was either on or off, and when on it was noisy. You can't open a window, and the draperies let in very little light. Good location though, and otherwise very comfortable with a nice big bath.

If you plan to use public transportation (Buses, Underground) you can not go wrong, the gloucester station is half block away - from there yuo can go anywhere in London; major attractions are within 15 min. As in many areas in London, pleanty of good restaurants - if you are in a hurry you can find easily fast food too. This Hotel is good for everyone (families, business folks, etc.). Pros: Close to underground, starbucks, other shops, good restaurants. Good rooms. Cons: About 33 USD a day for Wi-Fi! WTF! It's 2012, you get free Wi-Fi in the jungle! 4 USD per local phone call! Dreadful, greedy. No swimming pool. No free breakfast (not that you have to offer that, but then adjust the price accordingly).

Have stayed in this hotel each time we have visited London over the past 5 or 6 years. Hotel is getting a little tired - lighting in the rooms, particularly the bathroom needs improvement. Use of hair dryers that don't have to have a button held down while you dry your hair would be an advantage. Free WiFi would also be a plus.
