"Close to Lincoln Tunnel"
The hotel is fine except that the rooms need attention. The first room given to us was very dissapointing. The toilet did not flush and was overflowing. The bathroom sink cold and hot water valves did not work. No water pressure. The shower had a continuous leak which was annoying. The bathroom door needed painting. I called the front desk to change […] my room. We were given a second room The problem we had with this room was that the heating system was not working and the room was very cold. I called the front desk again and was told that they would send someone to look at the problem. I waited 30 minutes but no one showed up. I called again and this person new nothing about it but assured me someone will be up in a few minutes. When he arrived he said a part had to be replaced but he temporarily fixed the problem by turning off the cold water valve. We did have heat after that. Upon checkout the desk clerk asked how was my stay and I explained the problems we had with the rooms. He apologized and deducted $50.00 from my bill which I thought was very nice of him. Well, my hotel say was fine. Not great. Not bad. Just about average. First things first, among the things they advertised on the listing was complimentary bottled water and robes. I got neither. Never did in the 2 days I was there. The first room I was checked into smelled like a smoky bar! They moved me into a nicer room. There is nothing within walking distance to the hotel. "Concert and NYC weekend"
I went into this trip nervous, as I read the recent bad reviews before we arrived. My husband and I had never been to NJ or NYC before, so we had no idea what to expect. We chose the Hilton because we had tickets to a concert at the IZOD, which is practically across the street. Our room was on a newly renovated floor, which was lovely. The bathroom […] left something to be desired, and I feel as if for nearly $200 a night for a standard room, they could add a mini fridge as a standard amenity. We had no problems with anything in our room; thermostat worked properly, bed was very comfortable, tv worked, etc. There was one evening that we experienced some very loud maintenance-type sounds which were annoying, but they have to do it some time. Room service was very prompt, but very expensive. A complimentary shuttle was readily available to and from the Secaucus station, which made it so easy to get to Manhattan. The front desk staff was very polite, the same woman checked me in and out and she even remembered where we were from and why we were traveling. Overall, I would recommend the hotel for the location and ease of access, however I'm not sure it's fairly priced. We were in town for the Superbowl and the hotel was done up nice for the game. They had shuttles to the stadium and the train station. Not sure if it was just because it was the Superbowl but the shuttle cost $60/person round trip to the stadium. Our room was on the top floor and was older. If you have the ability to check in early, this is a MUST. After a flight delay and calling to inform them we would be getting in later than expected, we arrived to get the room directly behind the elevator shaft. When we asked to change rooms, they said they were oversold and had no rooms open. We then headed to the bar for a drink and watched people […] check in after us. How can they go from being oversold with no rooms open to being able to check more people in. When one thinks Hilton, they expect a certain level from the hotel and this fell short in all areas. "If you have the money STAY IN MANHATTAN!!!"
Hotel is very nice and clean, well located if you are visiting NYC (it's a 10 min drive to Secaucus train station and then a 10 min train trip to NY Penn Station in the heart of Manhattan). Hotel restaurant has great hamburguers and is a nice place to get a drink and relax. It has a nice convenient store and vending machines. Things to complain about: […] Wireless internet is NOT free. We were 4 people in a room (two double beds) and we couldn't make the housekeeping people to leave FOUR towels; everyday we had to ask for more towels!!. The complimentary shuttle to Secaucus Train Station is a mess, it's a very small van for all the guests that want to take it, there's no order in boarding the shuttle so people fight to get in; the same problem exists when taking the shuttle back to the hotel from Secaucus. It is a good place to stay if you want to visit Manhattan but plan to stay there all your day, forget about having a break to rest in your hotel room!! If you're going to a night show in NYC you may need to wait almost an hour for the next train to Secaucus and you may need to wait in Secaucus almost an hour for the next shuttle to the hotel (last shuttle is 11:45pm) so be careful and watch your times!! If you don't want to wait for the shuttle you can take a cab to the hotel but it's a $25 dollars drive.
