I have been staying at the Murano Hotel for business for most of the past 3 months, so have plenty of experience with it. Though Tacoma's not the most hip town, the Murano is. The staff are super friendly, the glass art throughout is gorgeous (makes it much more bearable when the elevator stops at different floors, so you can have a peek at the exhibits), the rooms are well appointed, down to Aveda toilitries and comfy bathrobes, and some rooms have fantastic views of Mt Rainier. The one downside for runners is that there are only 2 treadmills in gym. All in all, terrific hotel.

Cool, hip, clean, fun atmosphere and nice gym. I rely on the reviews to guide my stays so always in turn review. This hotel is everything people say it is. Very clean, well designed European type place. The type of place I call home and tell my wife I wish she were there to see it. Would stay again if I go back to Tacoma.

We were there for a function at the hotel, so decided to just stay at the hotel. Had booked a double/double, but received a king for same price (not sure where the disconnect was, but accomodations were more than adequate). For a large hotel it was very quiet. A couple of suggestions though: 1. Hotel patrons should not have to pay for parking. 2. Patrons should not have to pay for internet connections. Overall the stay was extremely pleasurable.

We were staying at this hotel while we were helping to set up and attend a wedding. When we were complete with the set up, we came back to the hotel expecting to get some room service before the ceremony. Room service and the restaurant are closed between 2 and 5, right when we needed it most! We were surprised in a hotel of that size that there wasn't a second restaurant or at least room service during the late lunch, early dinner hours. Other than that, we were completely satisfied with the stay for the price.

This was a nice place to stay and service was great. I would stay here again. The things I didn't like: In room coffee was terrible. I made the mistake of ordering a decent pot of coffee via room service. It cost me close to $40 for that stunt. 1/2 was for the coffee, the other 1/2 for the room service. Didn't leave much for a tip. I can only assume that was already included! Food in the restaurant was decent, but way over priced for what it was. Not impressed at all with the dining experience. I recommend eating elsewhere. Everything else was fine. Had a bad experience with parking the rental car in the hotel lot, but that was no fault of the hotel.

Reviewed by Charles of San Jose on Jun 5, 2009
This hotel is superb for its location to other restaurants, the convention center, and Tacoma's mini-light rail system. However, Tacoma, the city, is so god awful. If you plan on getting any food or alcohol past 7 o'clock, be in for a shocker because virtually anything in walking distance of the Murano shuts down by then. Also, anything beyond 4-6 blocks of the hotel is very "ghetto" in that it is very run down/dangerous neighborhoods beyond the business district. This wouldn't have been a problem if there wasn't a campaign by Tacoma to "experience Downtown Tacoma", an add campaign that seemingly wants to bring more people to their downtown area for things other than Business. Bottom line, if you have to stay in Tacoma for whatever reason, the Hotel Murano is the place to do it, however, if you have the option/resources, just stay in Seattle, and take a 40-50 dollar taxi to wherever you need to go in Tacoma. Trust me, it will be totally worth it.

Lobby and hallways were dazzling, really chic, featuring displays of mostly modern glasswork, some of it spectacular. View from 22nd floor was exceptional. Room was small, decently furnished. "Bite" restaurant was good for light meals. Neighborhood: depressing, no shops or restaurants to speak of, lonely homeless people on street. The exception is the Tacoma Art Museum just a few blocks away -- a friendly small museum with innovative displays of mostly modern work.

The theme of this hotel is Murano glass from Murano, Italy. There are several amazing pieces on display and photos of glass making on each floor. It is like a mini museum within a hotel. The rooms are beautiful and reasonably spacious. The beds are firm and very comfortable. We had a great view. The bar is fun with modern sitting areas and a fireplace. The staff were very friendly. I would definately stay there again and have already recommended this hotel to people.

The Hotel Murano was a great hotel with a lot of potential. The only downfall was the hotel staff. During our stay we sat at the front desk waiting for someone to check us in. There was no line and we were the only people in the lobby. After waiting patiently fo rabout 10 minutes, some young immature kid came out from behind the wall and gave us our keys. The valet was non-exsistent. There was one guy running around filling the roles as valet, bellman, and conceirge. I called ahead for our car and when we finally got down stairs we still waited 20 minutes for our car.

I had a great stay at Hotel Murano. It is absolutely gorgeous! There were a few surprising disappointments. For the amount of money you pay to stay here, I would expect complimentary internet service rather than the $9.95/day access. There is also a $13/day parking fee, so be aware. There was a nice and pricey bar of goodies in the room but no mini fridge to keep things cold. Also, the elevator system was awkward and cumbersome. First of all, you must take two different elevators to get from the parking level to your room. The first only goes to the lobby level and is on a completely different side of the lobby from the hotels that go to the rooms. You must swipe your room key in the elevator to use it but when there are multiple people going to different floors it seemed to skip floors where some wanted to get off and you had to push the floor numbers several times on some trips. It seems pretty new so they may work out the kinks. Overall, it is exquisite but I am hoping they will think about these items to improve service to their clients.
