I think it is a RIDCULOUS that a hotel that costs $205 for one night charges $10.00 for internet use. Also, I stay at this hotel once a year for a banquet. This is my third year. This is the second time that my hotel room has not been cleaned by the time I got there which is not until 5 PM. Last year, I waited for a phone call to get to my room. Absolutely a shock. The hotel is near the airport, restaurants and shopping. The lobby is a pleasure with it's spaciousness and decor. The name is deceptive as it is very far out away from downtown. The layout of the hotel is very odd. The front desk staff was very welcoming. The bar staff was lacking in proper customer service skills, the lady helping the bartender looked to be some type of manager and she was completely rude and off putting. I had signed up for a king bed and upon arrival was told there were none available, not exciting news when it is 10:00 at night and you have been driving. I was in process of checking internet in lobby for another hotel when another customer came over to me. The hotel does not offer shuttle service unless it is to and from the hotel. You will need to arrange transportation to go downtown to the Ryman, Shopping at Opry Mills, Rockettes performance etc. The front desk staff will offer and arrange a taxi for you but beware, the taxi service that they will use is more expensive than calling around for this […] yourself. After paying 45.00 rt for 6 miles away, we researched alternatives. Try the Monarch transportation company. For $10.00 roundtrip they will take you downtown from the hotel lobby. Look in the yellow pages for alternative transportation to a taxi for trips not downtown. We located and used two that charged $20.00 round trip to the mall. The hotel staff say they are not aware of alternatives yet when I inquired of others by name they had a typed listing at the front counter with these phone numbers. Buy the $20.00 per person club lounge membership. The breakfast and evening snacks/appetizers are ample and tasty. The Old Hickory Grill restaurant on site is expensive for what it offers and the dishes lack flavor in our opinion. Take advantage of their "Go Green" promotion and not have maid service each day. For selecting this you are given a $5.00 food voucher at the restaurant. The front desk staff is very accommodating however I learned about these options by research and asking. "Beautiful Hotel and Grounds But Comfort Zero!"
I had specifically asked for a room very close to the elevator, as I have a serious mobility problem. VEry painful to walk and had talked with soemone at he hoel when we made reservations about this and was assured that they had reserved a room for us right across from elevator. But wehn we got there, the room was a fairly long walk down a corridor […] and I was almost completely out of breath and strength and back & legs in a lot of pain each time I left the room and returned to it each night! I felt like I was lied to. The secnd problem was that we practically froze to deat in the room! Ther was some type of monitor on the heating system in the room that would not let you get the heat up high enough to warm it enough to sit withoout a coat or jacket on! I was okay after we went to bed, as they do have excellent coverings on the beds, but you still would freeze eery iem you went to Bathroom during the night. Though it is a nice hotel in appearance, the comfort zone was zero and we will never stay there again, though we visit Nashville often! Also, the room we were given looked out on a roof top, which was higher than the balcony level of the room! There was a very high, white wall boxing it in from the roof that came up to tjhe top of that white wall. Beautiful property that deserves better management. We were told to park around back and come in the door on the corner. It was surrounded by trash from an overflowing trash can. People were just stacking it up on the sidewalk around the can. Hotel security could be seen hanging out at any given time outside near the employee entrance.
