The hotel does have 2 sections, but often times it is quite beneficial for our guests and groups alike who want to be separated as their schedules are different from other guests on business travel. The hotel while located just outside of Crystal City has a great shuttle that takes you door to door to many restaurants and shops. The trip takes just a few minutes and is more convenient than walking from the close by hotels especially during inclement weather. "Do not stay at this hotel"
The room was dingy and moist in the basement of the part of the hotel that is separate, the rooms have the wall heating/air systems that are horrible for allergy sufferers. No daily water, Internet or breakfast like most hotels, there is not a refrigerator and no dining options near the hotel/within walking distance. The Potomac Restaurant offers a variety of sandwiches, entrees, appetizers, and desserts that we hope appeals to everyone. In fact we even have flatbread pizza and gourmet tacos, but we do understand that sometimes we can’t please everyone. Of course our shuttle is only 5 minutes away from over 100 different shops, restaurants, and cafes. No consideration for families with kids. We were assigned a room on a split level with stairs only and had to move up and down ourselves a twin stroller and multiple bags. Let's start at check in..... Things seemed to go well enough, and we were assigned a room on the 15th floor. Get up to the room and the keys don't work, not to mention the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. So I haul all our stuff back down to the lobby and go to same CSR... Don't know how that happened he said as he reprogrammed the keys to a room on […] the 12th floor. No apology, nothing..... At least the key worked this time. The pool was nice and warm, but the air around it was frigidly cold. Breakfast was outrageously expensive, and for the price of parking you'd expect a wash and wax or something..... "Perfect hotel if you never plan to get hungry"
The hotel is quite beautiful but the location is not exactly ideal. There is nothing in walking distance to enjoy. The only selections of food are from the neighborhood restaurants and is not very good at all for the price. Nice hotel, but we were awakened at 0530 for a fire alarm so did not really get a full night of sleep. Furthermore, did not get a late checkout due to the fire alarm or any other compensation. Chose this hotel for the indoor pool for my kids...they had a blast! We arrived around 4:00 PM and had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our room. Because of this, they gave me a free parking pass overnight (which saved me $24). My kids basically swam until the pool closed and the pool staff was very friendly. "Stuck in a snow storm"
We ended up staying at this hotel for one night after having our flights cancelled due to the snow storm. The main issue I have with this hotel is the customer service and professionalism particularly from the shuttle drivers. I took the shuttle to the airport early in the morning to get a new flight, while my wife stayed in the room with our 6 month […] old baby. We got the next flight out so my wife had to try to get our bags and the baby down to the lobby because we couldn't afford to miss the shuttle. She called to ask if anyone could help her take her bags downstairs and was told they would ask the shuttle driver if they could. While I was on the shuttle heading back I heard the call go out over the radio asking if they would help with the bags. The drivers on the radio laughed and all jokes about how they weren't going to help. They were too busy. When we pulled up 2 other shuttles were sitting in the driveway. How busy were they exactly? They could sit there and not help my wife. I then asked if they would mind waiting a few minutes while I ran upstairs to get my family and our bags and the shuttle driver told me if I could be back in 2 minutes he would wait. Luckily my wife is stubborn and as we were pulling up I saw her lugging our 2 suitcases, the baby strapped to the front of her, a backpack on her back and the car seat. It's hard to get a nice room at a great price close to D.C. Got this room late in the afternoon when the rates went on last minute special. Splendid room. Friendly staff. They gave us a room on the third floor. We arrived after dark and didn't know until morning that we had a wonderful view of the hotel ventilation stacks. Don't get a room on the 3rd […] floor! Make sure you have Sheraton rewards or you'll pay a hefty fee for parking. Free for club members. Internet is an extra 12 bucks (Why do premium hotels still maintain this annoying practice?) "Promises and the Language Barrier"
I had a once again, enjoyable stay. The only thing is that I did have to change rooms when I was assured the room I had would be a quite one. Besides the fact that is was in the annexed attachment to the main hotel and I had no way to tug my luggage from the lobby to my room in the annexed section of the hotel, because the bell carts could not go pass […] the main annex foyer, I had an enjoyable stay. We had booked a King room. When we checked in they did not mention anything about the room and gave us a room with 2 double beds.
