I stayed at this hotel for (3) weeks in Jan 2013. The hotel needs major renovation. Carpets are frayed, tiles in bathroom are loose, a/c-heating system does not work properly, TV's have splotches on screens meaning they are very old and if you are expecting a microwave and frig w/freezer think again. This hotel does not have any frig w/freezers at all, […] the only thing they have is a tiny frig that does not keep cold for very long. There are a few good things I did like: the beds are very comfortable and the hotel views were awesome also you are within walking distance of multiple church, restaurants and shopping. We had a fantastic viewl of the river and the Yacht basin. The location was perfect. Could walk to shops restaurants. Felt very safe. Had a nice walking path down by the river. There is a second building, which is a block away from registration desk. Our room was in the second building. The clerk described it as being just outside a door beyond the main hallway. Parking was limited and we had to park in a public parking lot. The beds were tired and depressed in the center. The facility was clean and the staff friendly.

Great room and fantastic view of the marina. I choose a room with a view of the marina, and we were more than pleased with the view from our 5th floor balcony. It is a short walk to the shops and resturants of the town, however we choose to dine in our room, and the meal from the hotel restaurant was superb. The live music from the poolside bar area […] was nice to hear, and it stopped early enough so as not to interfere with any sleep. I gave quality of staff and service a rating of 4 instead of 5, because I felt that the servcie at the poolside bar was not at the same level as the rest of our experience. Read more

We loved the view from our room overlooking the marina & bridges. Our room was very clean & the bedding was comfortable. Great hair dryer, in fact, I'm going to buy one. Staff was very helpful & we walked to a great little diner they suggested for breakfast, the sweet potato biscuits were to die for! We would definitely visit this hotel again.

The hotel experience was good. Hopefully the Hilton Double Tree since buying this Hotel will make some upgrades. The bar and resturants were extremely warm everyday I was there. They had 3-4 fans going but the temperture wasn't pleasant. Possibly need an AC upgrade. Food was good though. Hotel needs to upgrade carpets on the floors in the hall ways […] badly. Carpet is loose and old. Cable TV was out with just a few channels. Management was very professional and housekeeping did a great job. The Hotel is just a few things away from being a top hotel. While the hotel is a bit dated, it was clean and I felt very safe. The room was comfortable and they changed the feather pillows and comforter quickly and were quite efficient. If this bothers […] you don't stay here on Friday or Saturday. The band did finish promptly at nine so I left remembering the spectacular view over some minor noise from my experience. The Musak in the elevators I felt was awful.... but sort of funny. Was the place perfect, no, but for the price not bad at all in fact very good... safe, clean and accomodating staff . The bottom line the view was worth every penny and the distance to the small, quaint historic area very walkable. The town pretty much shuts down on Sunday many times of the year, so check that carefully. Read more

Stay was nice, but we had dinner in the dining room. It was clear that the staff was short...we waited a long time before order was taken and even longer for our dinner...and we order simple items like a club sandwich and a chef salad.Yet the view was beautiful and loved the music playing on terrance.

We won't go back. Check-in is 3:00, but room was not ready until 4:00. No washcloths. Paid $10 a day extra to have a balcony but it had no chairs.Called the desk and were told they don't have chairs for balcony since Marines stayed there & threw them into the pool. We are not Marines. Bathroom in this king room was tiny tiny tiny. A/C was loud & squeaky […] constantly. Day 2, no towels, not even dirty ones. No clean glasses, no ice bucket liner, bathtub not clean. Took 4 calls to get action but still no hand towels. I asked for manager to call - never did. Stayed Thurs, Fri, and Sat. but not told at check-in there is a live band outside by the river from 6pm to 9pm. On 5th floor we could not hear the tv even with volume turned to over 40. But can still hear the bass of the band. We ate at their restaurant & loudness from the band was deafening. Sat. night, we made sure to stay gone until 9pm. All parking was taken by people coming to drink & hear band. Had to park in a bank lot as no parking is reserved for hotel guests. Wish we had stayed somewhere else. Would not have paid $10 extra each night for a balcony on riverside that could not be used or enjoyed. Front desk staff is nice but non-responsive, housekeeping is a joke and it is impossible to relax when bump bump bump is vibrating the glass doors and windows. There was a terribly stained carpet (dirt, paint, coffee) on the floor, which was cut along the edge of the wall, but not secured to the floor. Overall, the room was not very clean. Location was good for our needs, and the outdoor pool was nice. The patio bar needs sprucing […] up (torn and stained plastic tablecloths). I was not impressed with the hotel overall. The pool was extremely dirty as were all the patio chairs and furniture. It was explained that the condition was due to the time of year (mid March); however, people were attempting to use the patio as the weather was extremely nice. The room itself was satisfactory, although the blind in the room was broken and could not be opened, the television offered a limited number of channels and did not include the local channels and the bathroom was very small and cramped. The Hilton is wonderfully located and has great views, but otherwise is a pretty standard run-of-the-mill Hilton hotel. Yet the convenience and surroundings are marvelous. And the Lavazza coffee in the rooms was a very nice touch.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in January 2012. We chose it because of it's proximity to the airport and it's complimentary shuttle service. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but I'll break it down. The Good The hotel was quiet and right on the waterfront. I payed a little extra for a riverside room but it was definitely worth it for […] the view. Even though it was only a few minutes from the airport, we couldn't hear any planes (then again there AREN'T that many planes in New Bern!). The town was less than a minute's walk away, but unfortunately it was Sunday so very little was open. Staff were very friendly, and the water station was really nice (in the lobby, ice water with fresh citrus flavouring). The bed was big and comfy and the room was very clean. The Bad The room was close to the elevator, and every time someone used it I could hear it in the room. It wasn't VERY loud but definitely noticeable. We had some issues with the food too. First of all, they didn't have the cereal they listed on their menu. Then they brought the wrong cereal up. Then they gave me milk that was rancid (I called down and they checked... apparently all of the skim was gone off). The cooked breakfast was somewhat mediocre, but with nothing open in town there wasn't much choice in the matter. Overall I'd recommend the hotel. The price was reasonable and the room pretty standard for a Hilton. I'd just advise you to eat elsewhere if you can. Read more

We traveled to New Bern from Northern VA, and found the location of this hotel to be very conducive to exploring New Bern on foot. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in the downtown area. The hotel was fine. It seemed clean. My only quibble was with the shower head, which could have benefited from a few squirts of Tilex and scrub brush. […] It was a little mildewy. However nothing else in the bathroom was out of order. I did like the HD television. It was a good size. The staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't deal with them much. One of the lady's at the desk when we checked in seemed a bit harried, and you might construe her as being a little bit short. I wouldn't say that she was rude however. (The staff was taking New Year's Eve reservations at that time). I would definitely recommend this hotel, and suggest you don't spend too much time there, since this is such a charming city.
