The first night they put him in the room and the heater didn't work and the remote to the tv didn't work. Front desk attendant gave us the wrong directions to our room, not a big deal cuz I can read signs but c'mon! Rooms are poorly lit and outdated. Seriously it's 2012 where's the flat screen and wall plug-ins. When you have to unplug the lights to plug in ur phone there's a problem. There is NO drive way!

My husband and our two kids (1&3) stayed here over thanksgiving to visit family. My very first impression was to not stay because of how old it looks on the outside. Very old! As soon as we walked in to the building with our rooms there was a musty smell. Our room, again outdated, was very clean and comfortable actually. Beds weren't too comfortable. Bar was great, even a live band. Great hot breakfast! We came for the Cat Show, and only needed to walk down the hall to get to the show. Will probably stay here again.

Staff is outstanding. Very courteous and eager to help. Hotel is old and in need of updating. TV's are a joke. Our picture was out of focus and very poor quality. Very old. There are plenty of concession machines. The sports club is nice and the staff was great. Breakfast is below par with other continental breakfasts. It would be easy to improve with […] a choice of meats at breakfast and a pancake and waffle machine. The beds were very comfortable but the bathrooms were too small. There was not enough room on the vanity for both of our toiletry items. There was a refrigerator in the room but no microwave. Access to the hotel is a little tricky but there are are many nice restaurants within one block. This could easily be a 3 star hotel with some updating, new TV sets and bathroom updates. It is adequate for a one or two night stay and it should be priced around $40 a night. I will probably stay there again if I am passing through town. Read more

We went to Springfield for my kids bday party and stayed at the Howard Johnson because it was right across the street from Chuck-e-cheese. We had a room with 2 beds because we have kids. The photos included on this site do NOT match the room we had to stay in. We expected to have a large round tub and just got a regular old shower. This place has been here for years and years without in renovation to the rooms. I was once in a motel room just like it in the 70's.

After reading the services & amenities of this hotel, I booked this hotel based on reading hotel provided airport shuttle. After booking, I called the hotel to ask them to send the shuttle, I was informed the hotel NO longer has a shuttle service. I was very disappointed. Then had to figure out transportation to hotel. We were very impressed with the room we enjoyed for the price we paid. Maintenance was extremely prompt for the minor issues we had. The beds and pillows had the comfort of a much more expensive hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

The light was out so I couldn't find the hotel in the dark it took me an extra 30 minutes till I did and after I called customer service to help me. The customer service rep in the am watched me stand in front of the automatic doors (that did not open automatically) and could clearly tell I was trying to rush to get outside and catch the cab that had just dropped off people. Pros: Good location, plenty of restaraunts and shopping close by, room size was adequate, beds were extremely comfortable. Cons: Unfriendly staff, refrigerator did not work in one room, other room had no refrigerator, the carpets seemed dirty, the two rooms we reserved were no where near eachother, price was steep for quality of hotel.

Over all the hotel was great! The free breakfast in the morning was amazing, and had a lot more choices than I expected. The service at the hotel was adequate, but the room key is another story. Each time you left the room, it would take anywhere from 3 to 15 trys to get back into the room. I only stayed there a night but had to get a new room key twice, […] and that still didn't resolve the issue. It appears to be a known issue in this hotel, considering that each new individual I talked with was not all surprised by my request for another key. I was really disappointed in the condition of this hotel, as the review suggested that it was good. While the hotel and restaurant staff were FABULOUS, the condition of the hotel was outdated and unclean. While my room was "clean" in a relative sense, I had a feeling that there was just an underlying, permanent grime that wasn't going to wash away. […] Also, when I turned on the bathroom faucet, tiny bugs crawled out of the bottom of the sink. That led to a very uncomfortable night where i didn't sleep out of fear of bugs, et cet. The layout of the hotel is weird, too. It does resemble a "barracks" or a converted dorm--very institutional. Older hotel in need of renovations. While it claims to be non smoking, it wasn't and the room and halls all smelled of years of smoking. Strange layout, more resembling a barracks than a hotel. I was not impressed with the Clarion Hotel in Springfield, MO. The pictures that it had posted online at booking did not reflect what the actual room looked like. The lobby was very nice and modern looking, but then you get to the room and it was disgusting. The hall carpet had so many stains on it, there was a giant hairball from who knows what outside […] one of the rooms and when we walked into our room you could see that it hadn't been vacuumed at all. They didn't even try to hide the fact that it wasn't vacuumed. There were shards of paper on the ground right when we entered the room and I found a wad of receipts right next to the bed. This hotel upgraded us due to our first room not being properly cleaned. Our stay in the jacuzzi suite was well worth the initial inconvenience. The management really seems invested in turning this hotel around. The building is old and unusually laid out, but worth the discounted rate. Everything was comfortable and clean.

We stayed for one night only on our way to St. Louis and would stay again. The hotel is older, rooms are clean and the beds are good, so I was happy. Also breakfast is a full hot meal. I loaded my plate with eggs, biscuits and gravy, and fruit but there were lots of other choices too. The staff was great and very freindly.

Told we couldn't check in until 3 p.m. Then we were told at 3 p.m., that it would be another 30 minutes. Once room was finally ready, we spent the next 20 minutes trying to find our room. Very confusing layout. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. Although the workers were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast went from 6:00-10:00 and they let us pack some food for my mom who couldn't get there. The day we left they gave us breakfast at 6:00. We liked the hotel and the adjacent sport's bar.
