"Overall a very nice hotel"
We liked this hotel very much. I was little disappointed with the view from our room it was a very ugly roof top. The proximity to attractions was a bit further then we would have liked. Other then that we thought it was a very nice hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming old southern hotel"
Quaint and southern charm made this hotel exquisite. Staff was amazing especially valet/bellman. The only thing that was ruined, not the hotels fault, was that our window opened to a towering 5 floor monstrous garage. How could the historic society allow that to be built? Lobby level nice. Rooms leave something to be desired. First room had broken door in shower ad was rusted and dirty. Second room had mold near the AC intake. Room was ok - bed was good. This is a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Charleston. We enjoyed the pool area and rooftop bar. Room was clean and comfortable. Our family didn't mind the 2 mile walk to downtown but if you are not walkers, it's rather far. There is a free trolley and a shuttle that the hotel charges a nominal fee for. 1.The knob on the shower head leaked. It was broken and non-functional. I tried tightening it but it did not tighten. Luckily I noticed it before too much of a puddle formed on the floor outside the shower. 2. I wanted to check out the restaurants and so I looked for the usual room/info notebook every hotel has. I couldn't find it anywhere. I called […] the front desk and they said they'd send one right up. It took about a half an hour. When I looked through it there was no tab for restaurants or room service-so I called again. They apologized and said they were redoing their books and that's why it may have been missing and they sent another person up with a room service menu. (I would suggest not removing the books to update but rather to bring the updates to the rooms) 3. The next day I left the room at approximately 8:30 and when I returned at 2:30 the room had not been cleaned at all. The room service tray was still there, the dirty towels were still on the floor, and no beds were made. SO I called again. They said they were sorry and they were running late and they would send someone right up. At 6:30 no one had arrived so I called again! They said they were really sorry and sent someone up who scrubbed the bathroom left new toiletries and took the dirty tray. I told him not to bother with the beds. 4. We do have a full renovation of our property planned , starting in November that will refresh our guestrooms, lobby, restaurant and meeting areas.

"Best to have a car rental"
This hotel is away from the downtown area and you will need to get a cab or have your own car. Cabs are hard to find. Usually have to call them. Be sure to allow 10 to 15 minutes. As far as rooms, the ac wasn't keeping the room cool even though I set it to 57 degrees.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

They Accepted early check in without any issues. Very nice staff and facilities. Room is beautiful, quiet, clean and comfortable. Swimming pool and jazzy are good size. Overall it was an ok stay, the terrace was nice however there were a lot of inebriated people there. I think the bar should cut people off when they have had much. "Nice staff and clean hotel"
The only complaint I have was the strong smell of deodorizer when you get off the elevator on the eleventh floor. That's the floor we stayed on so don't know if it was like that on the other floors or not. You could smell it by the elevator on the first floor too. My clothes picked up the odor and food that I had brought for the trip picked up that […] smell and taste. I had to give a talk at the Citadel at 830 in the morning. The hotel was nearby and for me very luxurious .The bedding was very comforatble and the breakfast in the room option was only 16.00 and gave me a good breakfast without having to wait.
