the location and view from the hotel is awesome. very convenient. the staff working there was not as attentive as i am used to, especially because i am also in customer service. however, for the price and location and convenience, i would stay here again!

We chose this "resort" because the cost was very reasonable for last minute reservation close to San Diego where we were attending a convention. As others reviewed ,the front desk was unfriendly, certainly unwelcoming except for one out of 7 days. The other staff were very pleasant. Yes, the rooms are dated, very clean however and good size. The rugs […] in the hallways are stained,,but not in the rooms. You need a car as there is little to do other than golf...There is free WiF but no fridge or microwave.The restaurant food is so, so.. As a jumping off point to the northern San Diego area ie Del Mar during racing season, Carlsbad flower fields, La Jolla Birch Aquarium, Encinitas and the Botanical Gardens , it is more convenient than travelling from San Diego. The drive into San Diego is not bad. For our purposes, it was fine. If you are not a golfer, and the cost is the same, I would stay closer to Del Mar town and the beach. All in all, the cost is good, amenities and facility fair, location far from the beach but close enough to sightseeing. Read more

Overall, we had a good stay. The resort is about 10 minutes away from Del Mar beach and is in a very quiet location. The worse part of our stay was the last night we stayed there when there was a high school prom or something going on at the resort and there was loud music playing outside our room till midnight. I was initially impressed with the drive into the resort area. There is a great golf course (27 holes) and the happy hour was lively. It was a little disappointing from here on in. The front desk attendant was terse and I felt as if I were always interrupting something (I had made two subsequent visits over my three day stay after check in to inquire […] about golf and dining and was treated brusquely each time). Having spent 2 nights in another hotel in San Diego proper, which I was totally dissatisfied with, I went to hotels.com and found Morgan Run for just $7 more than what I was paying.What a difference!! Excellent accomodations & staff. If I ever make it back to San Diego, Morgan Run will be my 1st choice!

I was a bit skeptical as many folks said how this resort was old and needed updating and the front desk was not friendly. We had a lovely room, which was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable. Is the furniture old? Yes...Do the carpets need updating? Yes Is the front desk super friendly? No, they are pleasant […] and helpful. I don't need them to be my best friend. The grounds are beautiful and we LOVED the pool. If you are not going to use the amenities, don't stay here. There is a resort fee charged which is common. We loved the "expresso" coffee in the rooms; it is delicious. We went out and bought muffins and fruit and had lovely breakfasts each morning. We don't typically eat at the place we stay as this is San Diego. We like to eat in Old Town or the Gaslight district...Would we stay again? Absolutely. The morning we left they were shampooing the hall carpets so I was glad to see they were listening to folks comments. It was a perfect place for the 2 of us. Always a nice place to stay. However, hallway carpeting could use a good cleaning or replacing. Quiet and "tucked" away. Grounds are beautiful. Only 5-10 minutes from Del Mar Fairgrounds.

The hotel grounds are breath takingly beautiful. But the rooms all 3 were a disaster. I was given a choice to change my room, but the other 2 rooms were old and had out dated badly scatched furniture, torn and dirty sitting chairs. So I stayed with the room I was given orginially. Breakfast was way over priced for a simply, pancakes, coffee and bacon […] could have had breakfast & lunch down the street at Mcdonald's for the price of breakfast at the hotel. You could tell that the hotel was not new by the paint job. The carpets in the hall were dirt in spot, probably from the golfer’s shoes. The room had a couple of stain on the carpet, but was comfortable and had some nice amenities. Because I had such a nice view of the golf course, I will be going back to play some golf there. Morgan Run was a lovely place to stay, just off the beaten track. Located just east of Del Mar, it was a perfect retreat. The grounds were lovely and the hotel / rooms well maintained. Staff were very friendly. The kids loved the pool. Golf was a bit on the expensive side, but you could go on the driving range all day for only $25 - unlimited number […] of balls. Feel very cozy, especially the pillow and the queen size bed. It also not far away to the beach and town center for eating & drinking. Things we didn't like ,our room were on 1st floor. We could hear noises from upstairs in the early morning and sound from outside parking lot.

Yelling and screaming in hallways after midnight, doors slamming, very dirty carpets, has a worn look and badly needs renovation. Cheap internet rates seem to attract a rowdy crowd. $5 small water bottle is an insult.

Morgan was quick to offer a room change after we complained the heat didn't work. We were very pleased with the new room which had a balcony and great view overlooking the golf course. Fitness and pool facilities are excellent. And the poolside cafe had reasonable priced meals that were delicious.
