"Stay by the sea at the Fairmount Miramar"
We enjoyed the hotel, its bar, its service, and its comfort. The view of the ocean was stunning. The convenience of the location lent itself to easy walking paths to the ocean, restaurants, or shopping. This was a return trip and, I think it is safe to say, we will return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had to wait almost 2 hours for room to he ready after bring called to ask what time I would arrive. Promised amenities for the kids and received nothing. Had to call multiple times for extra towels. When I told front desk I was unhappy with the service felt like there was no genuine concernGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not What You Expect from the Fairmont"
My husband and I checked in for our staycation during Easter weekend and arrived at the impressive gates of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel. We live in Los Angeles and thought it would be fun to stay in Santa Monica, order room service and go swimming in the pool. Upon our arrival at the valet, the staff was slow to help us...check-in was less than enthusiastic […] and the room was not ready at 4pm. After we got settled in, we decided to check out the pool next to the lobby. There was no staff to greet guests and help set up the towels on the lounge and no one could a waitress to take our order...my husband got chatty with a group of people in the jacuzzi and found out that they had snuck in to go swimming. There should be better security at the hotel because the pool was packed and no hotel staff was there to accommodate the real guests. Afterwards, our friends joined us at the hotel bar for some drinks and someone from our group asked for an outdoor blanket. After about 20 minutes, a dirty blanket arrived. We showed it to the waitress and she brought us another one after another 20 minutes. Next, we asked the concierge for a lunch suggestion for the next day. She suggested two restaurants and told us both will be pretty busy so we should look elsewhere but did not give us any more choices. TIP- we walked down Ocean Avenue and discovered Watergrill. Fantastic place and plenty of sitting space, no waiting. Overall, bad service and not to the standards of other Fairmont Hotels. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was amazing!"
We were so enjoy our trip to LA. My boyfriend and I were so satisfied with it !! Amazing!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
I reserved a room with 2 double beds but got a king bed and roll-away bed. The room was tiny so with the roll-away, it was way too crowded and I felt really cramped. The balcony was practically useless because it was so small and you can't see the beach view unless you are standing. I've stayed at the Fairmont many times so was expecting more, but this […] was the most disappointing stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely, low-key hotel close to the beach"
I stayed here with my mom and 18-year-old daughter for a long weekend/college tour trip, and we had a fantastic time. The staff -- from the front desk to our (very charming) server Terrill at Fig to the pool crew -- could not have been more helpful and accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful grounds but snooty staff"
I've always loved staying at this property because the ambiance makes me feel like I'm on vacation but I think I'm finally over it. The lobby staff, save for valet, is just too snooty for my taste. They clearly don't understand the difference between high quality service and putting on airs. They should take a note from The Peninsula hotels. Further, […] the rooms could definitely stand some refreshing/updating given the rates they charge. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was very nice. It was clean and the service was good. The location was great for walking to the beach, shopping and restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
"would have been great"
everything was fine, except they decided to start construction on the 5th floor right above us at 8 am... we asked for a comp room, and all they would give was free car parking... thanks ? i think 50% off the room cost should have been appropriate for the nightGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location & ambiance"
Hotel stay was nice & staff friendly. During my stay some construction was going on and my afternoon naps were impossible with the hammering. FULL DISCLOSURE - not told about construction at check in but I understand.Genuine Expedia guest review
First time there, and definitely not my last! ALL of the staff was friendly and they were all happy to help me with anything I needed! Can I give more than 5 stars? Amazing!!! Thank you!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent location and great service!"
From the moment we arrived We were treated with nothing but Kindness by the charming staff! My children loved the beach and pier and we were able to see and spend time at Disney from this great vista!Genuine Expedia guest review
"la marathon finish line"
everything was more than fine, except the food, which was average. This includes the dinner and breakfast at Figs; expensive and not worth it. Pool service was a plus and grandchildren enjoyed the heated waters. Stayed at many better for the money, but would return due to pool and location, this time of year.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed here multiple times. It's a comfortable home away from home for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Kings of Customer Service"
Upon arrival there was a problem with the hotel's computer system so we were asked to relax in the lounge and enjoy a complimentary cocktail. After a while a Manager kindly informed us that the computers were back online and that we could check-in. The room was nice, the staff were even nicer and the customer service was over-the-top!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice hotel on Ocean Blvd"
Great hotel. Friendly staff. Clean environment. Super comfortable. Already planning the next time we can be there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Really nice Hotel. I requested an early check in with you(expedia), and to our pleasure our room was available when checking in around 1:30. We, my two friends and I were tired from the long drive from NorCal to SoCal! Able to pop the cork on some bubbly! A great start to our weekend. ThanksGenuine Expedia guest review
We have stayed at the Fairmont several times. The consistent high level of professionalism and attention to guest comfort makes us return often. The only negative is the sometimes noisy outdoor lounge on the South side of the tower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was really forward to my stay at the Fairmont, however, I was disappointed at how small the bar area was, the size of my room and location (right off the street) and found many of the staff to be rude. The hotel was very noisy and busy and the common areas were to small to accommodate that many people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid 2nd Street side"

"extremely unprofessional and disappointing"
I paid in advance for a non-refundable KING bed in the larger Palisades wing for special romantic getaway with my husband. Instead, Fairmont put us in a room with two double beds. I called and said this is not ideal for a romantic weekend. Fairmont said "sorry, no kings available; your room type is not guaranteed." I said that's ridiculous; my written […] confirmation states King in Palisades wing; it is guaranteed and non-refundable; if I just needed a place to crash I could have stayed at Motel 6 and at least slept with my husband." So they suddenly found a king, in a different wing, in a TINY 200 sq ft room which is SMALLER than most Motel 6/Holiday Inn rooms. Room was old and bathroom was so tiny you could't turn around. We were so disgusted we left at 6 in the morning, and told front desk about our disappointment. Check-out clerk said she would make sure her Manager called us that day. Still waiting a week later. Pathetic service; paying hundreds for a Motel 6 room with zero follow-up should be far beneath Fairmont's dignity. It is appalling how their standards have fallen. "Great location and service, but loud."
The Fairmont Miramar has a great location and wonderful service. The big downfall for us is that our room was right above the Bungalow Night Club which is very loud. The music on the weekends did not stop until the wee hours of the morning. Also, the rooms above and below are loud when people walk and vacuum, etc. the rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is a big disappointment. Our room was not ready until 7 pm and bags did not arrive until 9 pm after two calls to the bell service. Our room never had robes, room service menus, etc. Rooms and public spaces need updating desperately.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Serene yet Bustling Santa Monica"
Perfect hotel in every way. Bungalow room was quiet and convenient for our 14 year old dog to get in and out. One of the most luxurious yet dog friendly hotels we experienced yet the dogs were all well behaved and quiet. First class in every way and we can't wait to return. The spa was also to die for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, but overpriced"
I selected this hotel based on user reviews. While it was pretty, the rooms were much smaller than pictured on the website. They've got a good website photographer. The main highlights of this hotel are its proximity to the beach and downtown Santa Monica. For what I paid, I was expecting a bigger room. While it was far from terrible, I wouldn't recommend […] it to a friend because it was quite expensive and we really didn't get much for it. Be prepared to drop big bucks on all meals and particularly drinks. My Kir Royales were $15 a pop. Service was also spotty. Our dinner waiter and cocktail waitress were absent for long periods of time. On the plus side, our breakfast waitress was the best--very attentive and friendly. She made it worth the prices. It was hard to sleep both nights (Friday and Saturday), as you could hear people laughing and screaming well into the night, cars driving by honking or playing loud music and people slamming their room doors, running down the halls and talking. It wasn't very well sound-proofed. Perhaps it would have been different if we had been facing the ocean. Also, I know our sheets weren't changed, as my pillow had some makeup on it from the previous night. The housekeepers merely made the beds. I was expecting fresh sheets. While it has its pluses, I'd only go again if someone picked up the tab. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Delightful, elegant hotel in a great location"
If LA can be personel, then that's what we felt at the Fairmont. Great location, lovelly small hotel in a beautiful setting. The walk along the beach is great, as is the view. Wife loved the shopping. The resturaunt is good, bit loud, but services are all very warm and attentive.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Sloppy front-desk service; Dont pay for an ocean v"
We got there at around 2:00 or 2:30 and our roo was not ready. No big deal and the front desk offered us a glass of wine while we waited. Well, we waited and waited. We decided to chill by the pool (buying our own wine now as we were not offered any more). 5:00 comes and we have not heard anything. I asked the front desk for status. He said they are […] in the 'final stages' of cleaning my room. I asked if I should book another hotel and said if the room is so filthy, I would not want to stay in it. Got our room around 6:00, and got to enjoy about an hour of the ocean view we paid a premium for before the sunset. Room cleanliness was average at best. Definitely not a three hour clean job. Entire hotel is situated so that all rooms view the ocean, so charging a premium for an ocean view is borderline fraud. Entire hotel needs a fresh coat of paint and the rooms need serious updating, I could see the peeling paint behind the decor over the bed. It was kind of gross. Hotel solely plays off of its name and location. Big disappointment. Upon check-out nothing was offered. I am not one to complain or make a scene, I just wont go back. They could have, atleast, comped the parking. In the end, to all of my friends outside of LA, it loomed great as a Faceboom check-in. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"beautiful old hotel not graceful as I had hoped"
The people working there were great, gracious, nice. But there is no free coffee in the morning, the coffee is not good, and it is $2.50 a cup.The internet is not free, there are three choices, and non of them worked for me. I used Starbucks down the street for internet. The TV has no guide that gives you the channel, name of the show, and what time […] it is on. We had to use three different sources to find out what was on (our own cell phones mostly). The car people were great, our car broke down while there, and they were cool. But on the way out of the hotel, I got my cell phone and iPad cords taken somewhere between the room and the car loading. Hotel has a lot to fix, even though it is beautiful and very well located. People working there were great, except for the charger theft. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
""Baby-Moon" was beyond expectations"
Really must say thank you to the Fairmont hotel and staff for making a 24 stay everything we wanted/needed and more. They were beyond accommodating at check in offering up an upgrade to room for free, provided amazing service at both the bar restaurant and room service (which came at exactly the time requested). They even sent over a bottle of champagne […] and strawberries to celebrate the arrival of our twins in a few months (obviously the champagne was held on to for celebrating later). Just felt well taken care of and if you go...do not hesitate to stay in the bungalows....what an amazing treat they are. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Price based on location"
Having spent five nights at this hotel I can confirm I was dissapointed with a number of aspects.1. The room size was particularly small for the price charged and in comparison with other hotels in the area. The rooms are tired and in need of renovation. 3. Parking is expensive and there are no options other than valet at 36 USD per night ++ In summary […] over rated over priced and under performing in my opinion. The hotel was very busy and yet the service was excellent. The receptionist at the front desk actually walked us all the way to the elevators, which has never happened to me at any hotel I've ever stayed. The room was very comfortable and roomy. We only stayed one night and had to leave early the next morning so were unable to eat at Fig. I was disappointed […] that it was not open on Sunday evening and also wasn't open early on Monday. "Excellent Hotel near the beach"
Everything in the Hotel was really good. Giving one star less because the room was not ready by the time we reached at 5pm. We had to wait for more than an hour to get the room ready. They provided free food in the restaurant during the time we waited. I would have preferred to have checked in, after long and tiring flight journey instead of the free […] food. How can you pretend being a luxury hotel and sell $600 night and host 4 weddings??? I wanted everything to be perfect for our wedding anniversary and this hotel ruined everything. could not sleep until 4am with all the party people. I have nothing against them, I got married, I totally understand but I have a strong feeling of having been fooled by […] a luxury chain accepting my booking and telling me there was 4 weddings that day/night. Crew was pleasant and genuinely embarrassed but Fairmont should NOT be considered a luxury chain when for $600 a night you can not sleep! Shame on them. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, great location"
We stayed at The Fairmont for 9 night in September 2013. We had a room with two double beds which was fine, not huge, but had an amazing ocean view on the 10th floor. I found the staff to mostly be really polite and helpful. Fig was lovely and by comparison to other restaurants in the area is actually not badly priced, excepting for maybe breakfast. […] Housekeeping were great but not consistent. They would forget robes, glasses, water etc, and after every time in our room it was different. Also they were LOUD. We woke up to people shouting in Spanish every morning, that was probably the worst thing. The pool is lovely but is too small for their expanding hotel so seats aren't always available. It's a saltwater pool which is lovely. The hotel has lovely services like free bicycles, and a free shuttle down to the beach. The Bungalow is right next door which is the hot spot in Santa Monica, and it's sad that being a guest at the hotel doesn't help you to get in, but they are completely separate to the hotel so I guess it's understandable. Last downside was that it costs $39 a day to park your car at the hotel! We found a lot on 2nd street (right across the road) and only paid $14 a day. Overall a lovely hotel, quite expensive, but there's a lot of terrible hotels in SM that you would pay nearly as much for, and therefor I would recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
