"Price based on location"
Having spent five nights at this hotel I can confirm I was dissapointed with a number of aspects.1. The room size was particularly small for the price charged and in comparison with other hotels in the area. The rooms are tired and in need of renovation. 3. Parking is expensive and there are no options other than valet at 36 USD per night ++ In summary […] over rated over priced and under performing in my opinion. The hotel was very busy and yet the service was excellent. The receptionist at the front desk actually walked us all the way to the elevators, which has never happened to me at any hotel I've ever stayed. The room was very comfortable and roomy. We only stayed one night and had to leave early the next morning so were unable to eat at Fig. I was disappointed […] that it was not open on Sunday evening and also wasn't open early on Monday. "Great place to impress a client"
Picked this Hotel for a client visit to West Coast - Client as did I really enjoyed the stay. Location is great - had ocean view rooms that were very comfortable. The staff in all areas were very accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review

The hotel could not have been busier and yet we were still made to feel very special. All employees were at their best. The Fairmont group never disappoints.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent Hotel near the beach"
Everything in the Hotel was really good. Giving one star less because the room was not ready by the time we reached at 5pm. We had to wait for more than an hour to get the room ready. They provided free food in the restaurant during the time we waited. I would have preferred to have checked in, after long and tiring flight journey instead of the free […] food. How can you pretend being a luxury hotel and sell $600 night and host 4 weddings??? I wanted everything to be perfect for our wedding anniversary and this hotel ruined everything. could not sleep until 4am with all the party people. I have nothing against them, I got married, I totally understand but I have a strong feeling of having been fooled by […] a luxury chain accepting my booking and telling me there was 4 weddings that day/night. Crew was pleasant and genuinely embarrassed but Fairmont should NOT be considered a luxury chain when for $600 a night you can not sleep! Shame on them. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, great location"
We stayed at The Fairmont for 9 night in September 2013. We had a room with two double beds which was fine, not huge, but had an amazing ocean view on the 10th floor. I found the staff to mostly be really polite and helpful. Fig was lovely and by comparison to other restaurants in the area is actually not badly priced, excepting for maybe breakfast. […] Housekeeping were great but not consistent. They would forget robes, glasses, water etc, and after every time in our room it was different. Also they were LOUD. We woke up to people shouting in Spanish every morning, that was probably the worst thing. The pool is lovely but is too small for their expanding hotel so seats aren't always available. It's a saltwater pool which is lovely. The hotel has lovely services like free bicycles, and a free shuttle down to the beach. The Bungalow is right next door which is the hot spot in Santa Monica, and it's sad that being a guest at the hotel doesn't help you to get in, but they are completely separate to the hotel so I guess it's understandable. Last downside was that it costs $39 a day to park your car at the hotel! We found a lot on 2nd street (right across the road) and only paid $14 a day. Overall a lovely hotel, quite expensive, but there's a lot of terrible hotels in SM that you would pay nearly as much for, and therefor I would recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Wedding Weekend Getaway"
I visited Santa Monica for a wedding and stayed at the Fairmont. The hotel exceeded my expectations. My wife and I stayed in the suite tower and were able to get the full California experience while there. We even spotted a well known celebrity having coffee in the lobby! I would recommend this hotel to anyone making a short trip to Santa Monica!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Thumbs up for the Fairmont"
Really great hotel. Room and facilities all very nice. The location is good: close to the beach and city center. A wonderful yoga studio is in the building. It was my second stay in Santa Monica and I liked the Fairmont better than a more expensive hotel I stayed on my first visit. I will stay there again !Genuine Expedia guest review

"High end hotel with a need for a refresh"
We got a room on the second floor. Zero view. The carpet was wet and the mattresses are very old. I stayed here last year in a suite and it was amazing. This specific room must be refreshed. Hotel is perfectly located and I'm sure it was a so so experience just because of our specific room. Still, Fairmont can't allow it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One of my favorite hotels anywhere"
The hotel is very expensive (plus $36 valet parking), but comes with at least a partial view of the ocean from most rooms, and is easy to get to from LAX. It is just above the Sta. Monica/PCH ramp. Five to ten minute drive to the Getty villa depending on traffic. Walking distance to great shopping. Walking bridge to beach. Excellent service whether […] in restaurant, room, or by pool. The guys sitting next to me in the restaurant were discussing a multi-billion-dollar deal. Movie stars stay in the bungalows. The hotel must be doing a lot right. Room very small, no refrigerator, housekeeping terrible, incorrect charges on bill, valet pulled our vehicle without approval, security took our Maltese dog and tried to bill us $150.00 for baby sitting fee. "Nice Hotel but loud"
nice hotel. classic. they have a bar outside called the bungalow bar i think and it is LOUD LOUD LOUD. if you get a room on the north side of the building you better get earplugs as the music keeps going until 2am on the weekends and it is not fun if you are trying to sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the 4.5 stars I expected"
The hotel was on a great location and the staff was really nice. However, our room wasn't ready and we had to wait for hours. The tv satellite did t work for several hours and most importantly the rooms really need and update. I'd call them early ugly. Our bathroom grout was black and the carpet was stained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location in Santa Monica"
Had to move rooms after 2nd of 5 nights at this hotel - there was an extremely noisy, outdoor, nightclub right under my window... at $400+ per night I at least expected quiet! Pool is small and chairs fill up quickly - pool service is good, but very pricy. Room a little on the small size too...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best last minute choice"
We weren't happy with the hotel we were originally booked into. So we left that hotel and checked HOTELS.COM and this hotel came up with the same rate as the other hotel. "A Fairmont anywhere is a favorite."
The Fairmont group is so comforting, traditional and humane~ with each of their hotels expressing a unique signature within a greater Fairmont signature~ and their Fairmont Miramar is situated wonderfully beside the sea, a block from the lovely statue of Saint Monica shepherding the beloved enclave given her name. Pacific breezes, wonderful simple gardens, […] a nice pool, a flowing fountain to drown urban traffic noise, a fine indoor-outdoor workout room, a spa, great food, and the Fairmont spirit and touch render this a costly but comforting hotel with a superb location for anyone journeying to the greater Los Angeles area for business, family, couples, or tourism. "Beautiful Grounds, Loved the Bungalows"
We stayed in a Bungalow in the garden of this hotel. It was beautiful. Although we did wish we had one with an outside sitting area. I believe in the description on Hotels.com it says that the "private balcony" is included, however, we did not have one (there were other bungalows on the property that did). The only reason I gave the hotel location 4 […] stars is because it looks, on the map, like it is a block away from the ocean. But you actually have to walk quite a bit to get to the beach. The hotel is situated up on the Santa Monica cliffs. It's not too bad, as you walk down some stairs and then cross the street and the massively wide beach that is Santa Monica, but this could be a factor for some people choosing a hotel. Expect to walk about 20 minutes or so to get to the ocean. The nice thing about the hotel location is that it is right by the 3rd Street Promenade, which is a beautiful little area to walk around in with shops and restaurants. All in all, I found the hotel very easy to get in and out of, and it ended up being very easy for me to find my way back to every day. My one small complaint is that this hotel definitely is not energy efficient. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have to admit, I had reservations about this hotel because some of the negative reviews but my concerns were put to rest as soon as I got out of the car. The employees from the Valet to the Concierge to everyone at the front desk were incredibly nice and professional; everyone was polite and willing to help with a smile. We got an ocean-view room, […] which was quiet, clean, and a good view of the ocean (north side of Santa Monica in our case). Since it was our anniversary, upon returning from dinner, there was turn-down service along with strawberries, chocolate, and champagne. Nice touch! The hotel is a couple of blocks from 3rd Street Promenade and several block away from some wonderful restaurants. Also, bicycle rental is free for anyone staying in the hotel so you can get a great ride on the bike path along the beach. The bicycles even come with a lock so in our case, we rode to Venice Beach and had some breakfast and coffee. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good night sleep bungalow room"
The tree in front is impressive and grandiose. I've read that it's a fig tree, but it looks like a magnolia tree to me. The front lobby is beautiful with full blooming orchids and inviting natural colors. We stayed in a bungalow and it was a nice treat to feel like we were not in a business hotel-like environment. The room was quaint and cozy. However, […] the shower tub needs an upgrade, since the enamel is showing its age. We received 1/2 price on the valet, because of our hybrid car. But it was still pricey. Considering how much we spent on the room, it would have been better to get complementary valet like other Fairmont locations offer. After a night of Korean BBQ in Koreatown, and a shower to get the smell out, we fell asleep in their very comfortable beds. We woke up and walked to the 3rd Street Promenade to have breakfast, only 2 blocks away. The weather was a bit warm Sunday morning, but I enjoyed the sun. It beats the scorching heat of Fresno in late June. I look forward to staying at more Fairmont hotels in the future. This one was great. I recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not a 4/5 Star hotel as advertised"
We stayed here one night for my Husband's birthday. I had called ahead to make sure they knew it was a special occasion and was told that there would be a welcome amenity in our room. When we arrive we are told our room will be ready by 3pm and they will call us when its ready....4pm rolls around and we finally go to the front desk to ask about our […] room. The cold woman at the front desk says "it's ready now"..OKaaaay. We get to the room, it is run down, nothing fancy, in need of renovation and no welcome amenity. After checking with the front desk again they deliver the welcome amenity which is a piece of cake with "Happy Birthday" sloppily written in chocolate sauce. To top it off they misspelled my Husband's name in chocolate sauce as well...his name is extremely common and not hard to spell at all (think John Smith) ....so much for making my Husband feel special. It was just another example of the lack of attention to detail at this place. I am not a super picky person but this hotel was WAAAY below expectations. When splurging on an expensive hotel I at least expect great service and a nice clean room...not at the Fairmont Miramar. The only nice thing about this place was the location but there are plenty of other nice hotels just as close to the beach and Pier. I will try Shutters by the Beach or Casa Del Mar next time. Don't waste your money here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Gorgeous hotel close to the beach!"
An absolute delight to stay at this beautiful hotel. The accommodations are outstanding- what you would expect at a Fairmont. "Nice hotel, just not for the right price."
I have not stayed at a lot of expensive hotels, but for the price it was to stay here I feel like the rooms were a bit small and the bathroom was not so great. The lobby and pool were pretty amazing, but I have stayed at places 1/2 the price and felt far more confortable in the rooms. Other hotels also came with free interent, seemed odd to me that […] for $400 a night interent was still another $20. I might try it again, just go with a different type of room and hopefully have a better experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Long Weekend Get Away"
We stayed recently for a long weekend. We booked a signature bungalow. Our room was nice but not what we expected. Upon check in and getting into our bugalow, we found the room was not exactually the room we thought and expected. Yes it was in the bugalow section of the hotel but our room (164) did not have a patio as the pictures show. Our room had […] a rooms roof top deck above us and the stomping of feet at all hours of the night became anoying. When we asked to be moved, we were told that this was the "room type" we booked and that they were not able to move us. So we made the best... We called for Ice to be delivered to the room for coctails and waited a hour for it to be delivered - this after 3 additional call to ask where i could get it myself.. I was able to get to the bar and back with Ice to enjoy our coctails. The Shower is a little combersome. Unless you are using the Tub portion of the shower for a hottub, hopping over the tall tub side walls become a task. Staff was pleasent. Pool is small. The Garden area becomes crowed with pool overflow on a sunny day. For a upscale hotel the hotel was average. The niche of this hotle is the location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"This hotel is great but not for light sleepers."
The hotel was great if you wanted to party if you were looking for a good quiet nights sleep I would not advise you use this hotel. Our room was located on the sixth floor overlooking the bungalows. Everything was fabulous except the noise which was very loud. "Very Good Overall, but Very Poor Service"
I really liked the hotel overall. Very good location in Santa Monica and is kept up to the standards of a 4.5 star hotel. I thought the room was nice, but somewhat small for L.A. On the down side, the service was absolutely horrific during the three nights I was there. It started with the valet and luggage personal, and continued on with the waitress […] at the bar and restaurant, which I visited several time. Just very unpleasant people working there. It was the only negative to the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location, nice staff, but dated interior"
Hotel was nice but definitely not worth the price. For the price of this hotel they need to remodel the rooms and bathrooms. Carpet in the hallway approaching our room on the 6th floor was in major need of replacement. Upon entering the room it was setup very oddly and not comfortable to utilize for anything other than sleeping. A lot of wasted space […] in our room that could have been better utilized. The bathroom was very large but was a horrible layout. Single sink with a very small counter when there was plenty of space for a larger counter. Bathtub shower was odd for this level of a hotel. Bathtubs in hotels are gross anyways, but not to even have a standalone shower was unusual for this supposed quality of a hotel. The hotel was in a good spot, nice friendly staff, but I would not want to pay more than $130 a night for this experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The service in general was not very good. We were supposed to have a king bed they put us in a double bed room and said there were no other rooms available. Next day they were supposed to move out things to a king bed room and they were three hours late for that. The major issue though was the bathrooms, they do not have doors that close fully. There […] are some shutters which do not give any privacy. the bar and the restaurant were very good and fun though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ocean View Hotel One block from the beach"
My honey and I came to stay at the Fairmont for our honeymoon. It was gorgeous. The valet staff and the front desk were very welcoming. We came early and our room wasn't ready yet, but they got housekeeping on it right away and had it ready for us pretty soon thereafter. Very cool. I liked the quaintness of the hotel. it's moderately large with a homey […] feel. it's not so big that you get lost in the crowd or need to walk miles to get from your room to the hotel restaurant or valet. There was a wedding going on while we were there in the main entrance way to the hotel. it was fun to see the whole setup. our room had a ocean view, and I enjoyed doing some yoga in the room and seeing the ocean view from there. very pretty. the first night we left the sliding door open for fresh air..... but the sounds of the cars from ocean ave. was pretty loud. we closed the doors the next two nights and that was much better. restful sleep. Fig restaurant was a disappointment. I thought it was going to be delicious from the other reviews, the french onion soup was good, but the other food was a bit too rich. it was convenient to have a restaurant downstairs though. all in all, I'm very happy with the hotel and their great service and highly recommend it.
