A great place to stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is a big disappointment. Our room was not ready until 7 pm and bags did not arrive until 9 pm after two calls to the bell service. Our room never had robes, room service menus, etc. Rooms and public spaces need updating desperately.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Serene yet Bustling Santa Monica"
Perfect hotel in every way. Bungalow room was quiet and convenient for our 14 year old dog to get in and out. One of the most luxurious yet dog friendly hotels we experienced yet the dogs were all well behaved and quiet. First class in every way and we can't wait to return. The spa was also to die for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, but overpriced"
I selected this hotel based on user reviews. While it was pretty, the rooms were much smaller than pictured on the website. They've got a good website photographer. The main highlights of this hotel are its proximity to the beach and downtown Santa Monica. For what I paid, I was expecting a bigger room. While it was far from terrible, I wouldn't recommend […] it to a friend because it was quite expensive and we really didn't get much for it. Be prepared to drop big bucks on all meals and particularly drinks. My Kir Royales were $15 a pop. Service was also spotty. Our dinner waiter and cocktail waitress were absent for long periods of time. On the plus side, our breakfast waitress was the best--very attentive and friendly. She made it worth the prices. It was hard to sleep both nights (Friday and Saturday), as you could hear people laughing and screaming well into the night, cars driving by honking or playing loud music and people slamming their room doors, running down the halls and talking. It wasn't very well sound-proofed. Perhaps it would have been different if we had been facing the ocean. Also, I know our sheets weren't changed, as my pillow had some makeup on it from the previous night. The housekeepers merely made the beds. I was expecting fresh sheets. While it has its pluses, I'd only go again if someone picked up the tab. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice minibar bur no fridge which i found odd. Room and bathroom are small but nice. Great view of ocean! They use a mirror to make room look bigger.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Delightful, elegant hotel in a great location"
If LA can be personel, then that's what we felt at the Fairmont. Great location, lovelly small hotel in a beautiful setting. The walk along the beach is great, as is the view. Wife loved the shopping. The resturaunt is good, bit loud, but services are all very warm and attentive.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Sloppy front-desk service; Dont pay for an ocean v"
We got there at around 2:00 or 2:30 and our roo was not ready. No big deal and the front desk offered us a glass of wine while we waited. Well, we waited and waited. We decided to chill by the pool (buying our own wine now as we were not offered any more). 5:00 comes and we have not heard anything. I asked the front desk for status. He said they are […] in the 'final stages' of cleaning my room. I asked if I should book another hotel and said if the room is so filthy, I would not want to stay in it. Got our room around 6:00, and got to enjoy about an hour of the ocean view we paid a premium for before the sunset. Room cleanliness was average at best. Definitely not a three hour clean job. Entire hotel is situated so that all rooms view the ocean, so charging a premium for an ocean view is borderline fraud. Entire hotel needs a fresh coat of paint and the rooms need serious updating, I could see the peeling paint behind the decor over the bed. It was kind of gross. Hotel solely plays off of its name and location. Big disappointment. Upon check-out nothing was offered. I am not one to complain or make a scene, I just wont go back. They could have, atleast, comped the parking. In the end, to all of my friends outside of LA, it loomed great as a Faceboom check-in. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My wife and I were in town for one night at a UCLA function. Always wanted to try this facility. Great ocean view room, excellent facility. LA casual atmosphere. Only complaint is the highest parking fee I have ever paid anywhere.Genuine Expedia guest review

"beautiful old hotel not graceful as I had hoped"
The people working there were great, gracious, nice. But there is no free coffee in the morning, the coffee is not good, and it is $2.50 a cup.The internet is not free, there are three choices, and non of them worked for me. I used Starbucks down the street for internet. The TV has no guide that gives you the channel, name of the show, and what time […] it is on. We had to use three different sources to find out what was on (our own cell phones mostly). The car people were great, our car broke down while there, and they were cool. But on the way out of the hotel, I got my cell phone and iPad cords taken somewhere between the room and the car loading. Hotel has a lot to fix, even though it is beautiful and very well located. People working there were great, except for the charger theft. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
""Baby-Moon" was beyond expectations"
Really must say thank you to the Fairmont hotel and staff for making a 24 stay everything we wanted/needed and more. They were beyond accommodating at check in offering up an upgrade to room for free, provided amazing service at both the bar restaurant and room service (which came at exactly the time requested). They even sent over a bottle of champagne […] and strawberries to celebrate the arrival of our twins in a few months (obviously the champagne was held on to for celebrating later). Just felt well taken care of and if you go...do not hesitate to stay in the bungalows....what an amazing treat they are. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Price based on location"
Having spent five nights at this hotel I can confirm I was dissapointed with a number of aspects.1. The room size was particularly small for the price charged and in comparison with other hotels in the area. The rooms are tired and in need of renovation. 3. Parking is expensive and there are no options other than valet at 36 USD per night ++ In summary […] over rated over priced and under performing in my opinion. The hotel was very busy and yet the service was excellent. The receptionist at the front desk actually walked us all the way to the elevators, which has never happened to me at any hotel I've ever stayed. The room was very comfortable and roomy. We only stayed one night and had to leave early the next morning so were unable to eat at Fig. I was disappointed […] that it was not open on Sunday evening and also wasn't open early on Monday. "Excellent Hotel near the beach"
Everything in the Hotel was really good. Giving one star less because the room was not ready by the time we reached at 5pm. We had to wait for more than an hour to get the room ready. They provided free food in the restaurant during the time we waited. I would have preferred to have checked in, after long and tiring flight journey instead of the free […] food. How can you pretend being a luxury hotel and sell $600 night and host 4 weddings??? I wanted everything to be perfect for our wedding anniversary and this hotel ruined everything. could not sleep until 4am with all the party people. I have nothing against them, I got married, I totally understand but I have a strong feeling of having been fooled by […] a luxury chain accepting my booking and telling me there was 4 weddings that day/night. Crew was pleasant and genuinely embarrassed but Fairmont should NOT be considered a luxury chain when for $600 a night you can not sleep! Shame on them. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, great location"
We stayed at The Fairmont for 9 night in September 2013. We had a room with two double beds which was fine, not huge, but had an amazing ocean view on the 10th floor. I found the staff to mostly be really polite and helpful. Fig was lovely and by comparison to other restaurants in the area is actually not badly priced, excepting for maybe breakfast. […] Housekeeping were great but not consistent. They would forget robes, glasses, water etc, and after every time in our room it was different. Also they were LOUD. We woke up to people shouting in Spanish every morning, that was probably the worst thing. The pool is lovely but is too small for their expanding hotel so seats aren't always available. It's a saltwater pool which is lovely. The hotel has lovely services like free bicycles, and a free shuttle down to the beach. The Bungalow is right next door which is the hot spot in Santa Monica, and it's sad that being a guest at the hotel doesn't help you to get in, but they are completely separate to the hotel so I guess it's understandable. Last downside was that it costs $39 a day to park your car at the hotel! We found a lot on 2nd street (right across the road) and only paid $14 a day. Overall a lovely hotel, quite expensive, but there's a lot of terrible hotels in SM that you would pay nearly as much for, and therefor I would recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Wedding Weekend Getaway"
I visited Santa Monica for a wedding and stayed at the Fairmont. The hotel exceeded my expectations. Really great hotel. Room and facilities all very nice. The location is good: close to the beach and city center. A wonderful yoga studio is in the building. "High end hotel with a need for a refresh"
We got a room on the second floor. Zero view. The carpet was wet and the mattresses are very old. I stayed here last year in a suite and it was amazing. This specific room must be refreshed. "One of my favorite hotels anywhere"
The hotel is very expensive (plus $36 valet parking), but comes with at least a partial view of the ocean from most rooms, and is easy to get to from LAX. It is just above the Sta. Monica/PCH ramp. Five to ten minute drive to the Getty villa depending on traffic. Walking distance to great shopping. Walking bridge to beach. Excellent service whether […] in restaurant, room, or by pool. The guys sitting next to me in the restaurant were discussing a multi-billion-dollar deal. Movie stars stay in the bungalows. The hotel must be doing a lot right. nice hotel. classic. they have a bar outside called the bungalow bar i think and it is LOUD LOUD LOUD. if you get a room on the north side of the building you better get earplugs as the music keeps going until 2am on the weekends and it is not fun if you are trying to sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the 4.5 stars I expected"
The hotel was on a great location and the staff was really nice. However, our room wasn't ready and we had to wait for hours. The tv satellite did t work for several hours and most importantly the rooms really need and update. I'd call them early ugly. Our bathroom grout was black and the carpet was stained.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location in Santa Monica"
Had to move rooms after 2nd of 5 nights at this hotel - there was an extremely noisy, outdoor, nightclub right under my window... at $400+ per night I at least expected quiet! Pool is small and chairs fill up quickly - pool service is good, but very pricy. Room a little on the small size too...Genuine Expedia guest review

"A Fairmont anywhere is a favorite."
The Fairmont group is so comforting, traditional and humane~ with each of their hotels expressing a unique signature within a greater Fairmont signature~ and their Fairmont Miramar is situated wonderfully beside the sea, a block from the lovely statue of Saint Monica shepherding the beloved enclave given her name. Pacific breezes, wonderful simple gardens, […] a nice pool, a flowing fountain to drown urban traffic noise, a fine indoor-outdoor workout room, a spa, great food, and the Fairmont spirit and touch render this a costly but comforting hotel with a superb location for anyone journeying to the greater Los Angeles area for business, family, couples, or tourism. "Beautiful Grounds, Loved the Bungalows"
We stayed in a Bungalow in the garden of this hotel. It was beautiful. Although we did wish we had one with an outside sitting area. I believe in the description on Hotels.com it says that the "private balcony" is included, however, we did not have one (there were other bungalows on the property that did). The only reason I gave the hotel location 4 […] stars is because it looks, on the map, like it is a block away from the ocean. But you actually have to walk quite a bit to get to the beach. The hotel is situated up on the Santa Monica cliffs. It's not too bad, as you walk down some stairs and then cross the street and the massively wide beach that is Santa Monica, but this could be a factor for some people choosing a hotel. Expect to walk about 20 minutes or so to get to the ocean. The nice thing about the hotel location is that it is right by the 3rd Street Promenade, which is a beautiful little area to walk around in with shops and restaurants. All in all, I found the hotel very easy to get in and out of, and it ended up being very easy for me to find my way back to every day. My one small complaint is that this hotel definitely is not energy efficient. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have to admit, I had reservations about this hotel because some of the negative reviews but my concerns were put to rest as soon as I got out of the car. The employees from the Valet to the Concierge to everyone at the front desk were incredibly nice and professional; everyone was polite and willing to help with a smile. We got an ocean-view room, […] which was quiet, clean, and a good view of the ocean (north side of Santa Monica in our case). Since it was our anniversary, upon returning from dinner, there was turn-down service along with strawberries, chocolate, and champagne. Nice touch! The hotel is a couple of blocks from 3rd Street Promenade and several block away from some wonderful restaurants. Also, bicycle rental is free for anyone staying in the hotel so you can get a great ride on the bike path along the beach. The bicycles even come with a lock so in our case, we rode to Venice Beach and had some breakfast and coffee. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good night sleep bungalow room"
The tree in front is impressive and grandiose. I've read that it's a fig tree, but it looks like a magnolia tree to me. The front lobby is beautiful with full blooming orchids and inviting natural colors. We stayed in a bungalow and it was a nice treat to feel like we were not in a business hotel-like environment. The room was quaint and cozy. However, […] the shower tub needs an upgrade, since the enamel is showing its age. We received 1/2 price on the valet, because of our hybrid car. But it was still pricey. Considering how much we spent on the room, it would have been better to get complementary valet like other Fairmont locations offer. After a night of Korean BBQ in Koreatown, and a shower to get the smell out, we fell asleep in their very comfortable beds. We woke up and walked to the 3rd Street Promenade to have breakfast, only 2 blocks away. The weather was a bit warm Sunday morning, but I enjoyed the sun. It beats the scorching heat of Fresno in late June. I look forward to staying at more Fairmont hotels in the future. This one was great. I recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not a 4/5 Star hotel as advertised"
We stayed here one night for my Husband's birthday. I had called ahead to make sure they knew it was a special occasion and was told that there would be a welcome amenity in our room. When we arrive we are told our room will be ready by 3pm and they will call us when its ready....4pm rolls around and we finally go to the front desk to ask about our […] room. The cold woman at the front desk says "it's ready now"..OKaaaay. We get to the room, it is run down, nothing fancy, in need of renovation and no welcome amenity. After checking with the front desk again they deliver the welcome amenity which is a piece of cake with "Happy Birthday" sloppily written in chocolate sauce. To top it off they misspelled my Husband's name in chocolate sauce as well...his name is extremely common and not hard to spell at all (think John Smith) ....so much for making my Husband feel special. It was just another example of the lack of attention to detail at this place. I am not a super picky person but this hotel was WAAAY below expectations. When splurging on an expensive hotel I at least expect great service and a nice clean room...not at the Fairmont Miramar. The only nice thing about this place was the location but there are plenty of other nice hotels just as close to the beach and Pier. I will try Shutters by the Beach or Casa Del Mar next time. Don't waste your money here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, just not for the right price."
I have not stayed at a lot of expensive hotels, but for the price it was to stay here I feel like the rooms were a bit small and the bathroom was not so great. The lobby and pool were pretty amazing, but I have stayed at places 1/2 the price and felt far more confortable in the rooms. Other hotels also came with free interent, seemed odd to me that […] for $400 a night interent was still another $20. I might try it again, just go with a different type of room and hopefully have a better experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
