Nice hotel but many little quibbles make it not so desirable. The location is nearby an outdoor mall with small streets going many directions..hard to find. Parking costs $26 valet, extra, or park in public mall parking for $24 overnight... they add up fast. Only decaf coffee with the coffee maker, outdoor hot tub not working, $30 extra if you wanted to use it anyway. Very low ceilings, the ceiling fans can give you a free haircut. Noisy maids early in the morning..... I would look elsewhere next time.

We researched the hotel on the internet and its ratings were very good therefore our expectations were high. However we found the hotel to be dated and dark, especially the room which was especially disappointing as it was sold as 'An Executive Suit'; we did get 3 nights for 2 but the nightly rate implied an excellent standard which I am afraid it was not.The floors were dirty and dusty and the veranda with jacuzzi (at an additional charge)was very unappealing as the area was dark and old fashioned. To cap it all, a (very noisy)wedding party set off the fire alarms by setting off sparklers at midnight waking up the guest. The hotel staffs response was not great and confusion reined for a considerable period of time. Finally, don't use the valet parking , you can park opposite the hotel in the car park used by the valet service, but at half the cost. Overall we were disappointed with the hotel and did not consider it value for money. We won't go back and really couldn't recommend it to friends. Sorry but we really did want to say we had a great time there but we can't.

Mayfair Hotel was a terrific find! Wanted to stay in Coconut Grove to be near U. of Miami-desk clerk gave me a deluxe suite - immediately from arrival with valet ready to take my car and assit me to the carved wooden door, the serene, cool ambiance of the lobby and bar i sensed a different type of vibe at this hotel. My suite consisted of a living room, plasma, table w/4 chairs, french doors leading into the bedroom with 2 dbl beds and flat screen, big marble bath room w/tv, minibar, dressing area and sliding doors to outside terrace with a japanese soaking tub complete with towels, bath gel and lounging couch and ceiling fan - terrace completely private fm neighbors...great place...no noise heard from hallways - the staff changes hottub water on request daily and puts it to your desired temperature. The rooms are all facing an inner atrium with polynesian feel of tranquility..lots of greens, flowing water and serenity. Rooftop pool surrounded by cabanas with plasmas, dj spinning hot club sounds as you swim, bar w/menu and outdoor fireplace for chilly nites - very atmospheric- pool not too large but sufficient- dined at Mayfair Grill food good, excellent service but not busy. Lots of nearby choices for brunch, coffee, dinner all 1 block away- you exit the hotel and are in Cocowalk and middle of Coconut Grove..I found it a great hotel, plesant staff and loved being in the town. No beaches nearby about 30 min drive to S.Beach..closest beach in Key Biscayne about 15 min away -but if u need to stay in the Grove this is a lovely alternative to a beachfront location and only 20 min fm airport. There is a spa in the hotel too which I did not use. I got a deal that if you booked 3 nites you got a nite free.

Upon requesting where the credit was at, they stated you booked with hotels.com and there rectified the situation by moving us. They also wanted to know who we spoke to, I did know the maintenance man's name who confirmed this would be taken care of, but had not noted that I needed to write everything down in this type of hotel. Nice idea of a hotel, failure on service-there are to many hotels in Miami to bother with this again.

I read some reviews before booking at the "Mayfair" and alot of them were good reviews and the one review I read which had good and bad in it said the linens were old and needed to be replaced and the floor was not cleaned. Well they were right. The Mayfair is in a great location (Coconut Grove) and you can park right across the street for cheaper parking rates than $26 + tip for the valet. The room was spacious and the bathroom was nice, double sinks and a huge shower head (felt like a gentle water fall). BUT when we first opened the door there was a musty order in the room (the odor either lessened or we got used to it) and the linens were awful, looked dirty and actually had holes in them. We complained about them the next morning and got better ones the next day but they do not change the linens everyday. They also had an ivory cloth couch and chairs and outside on the patio was an ivory cloth cushion that had stains on them. They need a better cleaning service. I also saw places on the floor that needed cleaning. They could also use a few more outlets for all our chargers. Our wireless computers worked fine and there was no extra charge for it. We had room service for breakfast, ordered pancakes and even though is was $$ they were the most beautiful, big, fluffy 3 pancakes + some fresh huge stawberries and rasberries. It was worth every cent. Saturday ordered room service for 2 Filets well done and medium well + a baked potato. The Filets were still moving when we got them, so the Chef made us new ones to our liking and the potato was mamouth (easily could feed 2 people) and perfectly done. Friday and especially Saturday night was a little rough for sleeping. People outside our room in the hall were so loud. You couldn't help but wake up.Coconut Grove is a hopping place with many restaurants to walk to and places to shop and browse.

A very nice hotel overall. Nice rooftop pool. Horribly dirty floors in the rooms. (keep your socks on, and expect them to turn black) We had requested a 2 Queen bed room, but got a single King room. Didn't work with 3 kids. Got a modest upgrade to a larger suite with two queen beds which worked out nicely. We chose to go with the daily flat-rate valet parking. A few days into our stay, the car was brought up front with obvious damage to the rear bumper where it appeared it had been backed into a column in the parking deck. The valet manager immediately denied any responsibility especially after supposedly "reviewing the video surveillance footage" later. I got credit for 3 days worth of valet parking, but that doesn't cover my deductible for getting the damage repaired. The floors were disappointing, but the valet experience pushed this way over the edge. I won't be back.

In the heart of Coconut Grove, this is an superb value hotel, with excellent service and well-maintained. I arrived late and the room I had booked was filled, but I was upgraded to another suite, which was huge, at no extra charge. Hotel restaurant was excellent and the lobby bar poured "stiff drinks" at reasonable prices for the Grove. The fitness facility was available 24 hours and the equipment, although not plentiful, was also well-maintained. The only "downside" was that the hotel is built around an open (and lovely tropical garden)courtyard, so that the hallways to the rooms and the elevators are not air-conditioned. Unfortunately, during my stay the hotel was conducting a mandatory test of their fire alarm system, which was annoying, but this can happen at any hotel and the management gave us plenty of warning that it was going to happen, so you could make arrangements to be gone all day if you wanted and avoid the problem.

We stayed for 3 nights/4 days over the 4th. The Mayfair is in a great location. There are tons of great restaurants within a 5 minute walk and the bay is about a 10 minute walk. The hotel staff tried to talk us out of walking down to the water (recommended at taxi), but it was an easy walk. Monty's had a great atmosphere for dinner. We ate at the Greene Street Cafe for a long breakfast (great) and quick breakfast at the Bookstore next door. George's had great food for dinner. Coco walk is literally across the street. The pool on the roof is nice, but the night club is overrated, so it would have been nice if the pool was open full time instead of closing at 6. We tried to watch the fireworks from Cabana One as recommended by both the hotel and Coconut grove, but the building across the street completely blocked the view. Great view of south beach and downtown fireworks. The hotel room was always clean. We didn't use the Japanese Spa, so can't comment on that. The worst part of our stay: A neighbor had a party on Saturday night. They were finally stopped at 3:45 am after several phone calls to the front desk. The managers came with every call (we could hear their conversations in the hallway), but the other guest did not want to stop his party. We couldn't hear any music from Cabana One.

Great location with many restaurants and shops right around the corner. I'd love to be able to say that all was well (and overall it was wonderful) but there are a few things to be aware of if planning to book a room here. If you are looking for a room with a nice view this may not be the best place. We had a veiw of a very nice wall. Not a wall with nice designs or paintings, just a large wall. This turned out to be prefered though because it was nice to have some privacy in the hot tub. Also, there was a $30 charge to use the hot tub, but well worth it. In addition to the lack of the view, parking was $24 for over 13 hours and the television remote only worked if you were standing directly in front of the tv. All in all it was a wonderful stay and I hope to go back in the future. The beautiful room and overall comfortability far outweigh the minor annoyances mentioned above.
