"The heart of the Grove"
The hotel is undergoing construction on the outside and scaffolding surrounds the exterior. On the inside however, there is no sign of renovation. We were warmly greeted by the reception. I know it was one of the staff because the money was in one of his jean pockets, tucked away in our suitcase, so someone was looking. I immediately called and asked to speak to the manager. The manager was unavailable but they told me he would contact me the next day. I also told them no more room service of course. The hotel didn't seem to care at all, they even still had housekeeping coming to my room and when I mentioned it again they gave me a attitude. The manager never called me back after numerous attempts to contact him. It was so much of a hassle I left the hotel without even thinking about it and left back home to MA. This is the worst experience at a hotel I have ever had in my life. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. Go to a hotel that at least cares and helpsyouout. The outer part of the hotel was being refurbished, but the interior was old-world gorgeous. VERY pleasant staff greeted us every time we entered. Dog friendly was very important, we have 2 Havanese. The hotel sent us to a dog friendly restaurant that was at least twice as far as they told us and when we got there we had to wait 45min. The hotel assured us that a reservation was made however we found out the restaurant never accepts reservations. Secondly, there is no grass dog friendly areas […] within three blocks of the hotel. And lastly, the in room hot tub or "Japanese Spa" got so hot that it was impossible to use safely, in fact dangerously hot may be a better description. Very humid in the hallways, the room is in need of some repair. The desk part is mounted to the wall and was falling off. "Horrific Stay Will Never go back"
Well we arrived at 3:15pm figuring we would be able to check in, yes I am aware of guaranteed check-in at 4pm. room was not ready, no big deal the gent at the front desk said he would call us when room was ready... 4:15 no call. 4:30 still no call. So I decided to go up to the counter again. No call because now they lost all my info. so i re-did it. […] Still no big deal. But got to the room... elevators are in sketchy order... Needed ice... Have to call room service for ice. Ok... Sure... Called 5 times.. finally someone answered... Ice arrived... Before our bags... Had to go back down to get our bags... So confused... decided once got to the room after the bag and ice confusion... Called for room service... called 15 times... NO ANSWER... WHAT! I booked an executive suite at the Mayfair hotel at the gables for my wedding night and honeymoon. My EXPERIENCE there was TOTALLY UNPLEASANT because since I got there I had problems. They ask me to give them a $200 deposit on my card even though I had paid the booking in full through expedia. I booked from feb, 14 thru feb, 18 and only stayed two days and just left with NO REFUND. I will NOT RECOMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. To this day they are still CHARGING MY CARD FOR I DON'T KNOW WHAT!!! I'M VERY VERY VERY DISSAPOINTED. My card has been charged over $200 now and they just say that it will go back to my account, i don't know when!!!!!! This people are also thieves since my husband came back for his phone charger one day after we had left and it wasn't there even though the room was "not supposed to be rented or touched since it was still booked". I booked a 4 nite stay at this supposedly renovated hotel. Arriving after midnight, I was told all facilities close at 11 pm. The hotel advertised it has completed a renovation. The renovations were still a work in progress. 10 minutes to the beach meant a taxi ride to South Beach or Key Biscayne. again, not what was advertised. The main photo of the […] pool made it appear it was close to the water. Again, not the case. I was disappointed but ready to make the best of it for the 4 days. I had a family medical emergency and had to check out the next day. I was met with contempt from the reservations manager who could care less of my emergency. I had booked through Hotels.com, and the reservations manager would credit me for the cancellation. After another round of talks, he flat out said he had the ability to waive any cancellation feels but would not. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.... I travel extensively for work and pleasure and have never been treated so distastefully. Hotels.com was by my side, but their hands were tied. I will be back in the Miami area in a month. Please let everyone know that the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove should be avoided at all costs. I was charged a one night cancellation fee. I had been in the hotel a whole 7 hours. The room was advertised at $250.00 per night, but the booking was made as book 3 nights get, one night free, so instead of getting two nights reimbursed, I was only given a credit for one night.
