Arriving by bus late at night, we were grateful that the hotel was next door to the station. This hotel is an easy walk to the center and to the beaches, and seems to cater to the business crowd. Very nice hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. Confidently close to bus depot if you want to take side day trip. But unfortunately it is a long 20 min walk to the heart of the city. Doing it once or twice would be fine, but more than that it is rough.

Virtually everything about this hotel was great. The staff was friendly and spoke excellent English. The rooms were comfortable and very classy. The service was great. My only complaint is that it was really hot in my room every night. I had to leave the window open all day and sleep on top of the comforter.

The airconditioning was not working. The room was stiflingly hot even in October. We had to keep the window open which made for the street noise to be heard all night long. The traffic noise did not seem to abate at all.

The hotel offered good services and the rooms were comfortable. Although it's located next to the bus station, our room was very quiet. The employees at the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. We didn't mind walking to the beach and the old port but it could be tiresome if you have to do it more than once a day.

We enjoyed our stay. It's a bit of a walk to Parte Vieja, but other than that, it was a very good experience. Kind of wish there was a pool, but it was not that big of a deal with how much there is to do outside of the hotel.

Also it is a little far from downtown and the buses, which are normally very efficient at getting you around SS, stop running at 10:30. This makes for a romantic walk along the river but not something you probably want to do everynight. Another possible downside is that their […] is literally a regional bus terminal outside one side of the hotel. But this did not really pose a problem on the seventh floor with the windows closed. But this could be convenient if arriving or departing by bus. The room is modern but with a separate bathroom from the bedroom. The wifi is free you just need to ask reception for a code, which for me they kindly delivered with a phone call. Another benefit is that you their is a public bike share system right outside the hotel. You just need to sign up for a pass at the tourist office downtown for a deposit of 20 and 8 per day. This is a great and easy way to get around SS as their are bike lanes everywhere. Read more

I chose this hotel for its location, so I could easily catch a bus just outside its doors for Bayonne, France, early in the morning. It turned out to be far grander and more pleasant than I expected based on its location abutting the bus depot. The buffet breakfast is extraordinary, too.

Have only central air and heat, both cannot be on at the same time. An issue of transparency to potential customers. Hotel sits as a stand alone building next to a bus depot therefore noisy.

They don't have central air conditioning so we had to open our window because the temperature was not comfortable for sleeping within the room. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING though. They have a lot of options and even a NESPRESSO machine so it was well worth the additional cost of the room.

Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Spoke very good English. Location is good if you are planning to travel by bus to surrounding cities (which we did). It worked out great. Hotel is located literally next to bus station and at times, we could hear buses and/or cars honking their horns. The Amara Plaza was a great surprise when arriving. Booking the hotel virtually blind, I really didn't know what to expect. First of all, NO ONE speaks English is San Sebastian but when your say AMARA PLAZA, everyone in the city can point the way. Good to know if you don't speak Spanish!! The hotel employees were fluent in English and extremely helpful […] when asking directions, calling taxis and recommending restaurants. Parking is on site and inexpensive at 15 euro for 24 hrs. The room was not the stereotypical Europe style room. A nice king bed with plently of room, closet space and a nice bathroom area. In house cappucino machine on floor, piano bar, restaurant and cafeteria. It was GREAT! Located just minutes from everything in San Sebastian. We loved it and would stronly recommend it to anyone going to San Sebastian. If your planning to run with the bulls in Pamplona, Like me, Stay at the Amara Plaza and take the 1 hour drive into and out of Pamplona. NO NEED TO STAY IN PAMPLONA you will be dissapointed. On booking we had some concerns that the hotel was next door to a bus station and required a bit of a walk to the town centre but were persuaded by the good reviews. We were impressed by the room size and cleanliness and by the quality of the linens etc. Staff were helpful and unobtrusive. These were not problematic during the night and we weren't too bothered about early wake-ups. The breakfasts were impressive in range, quality and quantity of food and included freshly prepared fruit and delicious pastries. We had one evening meal in the restaurant and would have been happy to eat there again and room service provided a lovely sandwich meal on the night my head-cold kept us indoors. This is a smart, modern hotel by the river, just a 10 minute walk or short bus ride from the city centre. The long distance coach station is next door. The staff are helpful. There is a good range of TV channels in the rooms including some in English. Breakfast is a bit pricey (15 Euros); we used a pleasant local café just two minutes walk away.

Breakfast, brilliant.Cleanliness and comfort great, spoiled of course by no in room tea/coffee making facilities. Only one BBC TV channel, but that is not unusual, WI Fi almost useless. Biggest disappointment is the Hotel completely ignoring my plea by email to check for my precious forgotten sunglasses.
