I had to ask for a room change (and knew of several others who did the same), it took the third room before acceptable. The room was shabby and smelly and apart from making up the bed, it did not appear that the room was ever cleaned. The hotel is in various stages of upgrade but by far one of the most consistent high quality hotels in Singapore. The garden wing is the newest addition and the quality of the finishings is high. The new Chi Spa also provides a new haven for relaxation. Well recommended for business people and families.

My parents stayed there for one night during their quick transfer through Singapore, we took a superior room in Valley Wing which has its own reception and stuff. Even though we arrived at 6:30pm (when check-in starts much earlier), the actual check-in process took around 30 minutes, even there was no queue. After this we were told that the room was […] not ready as they were still fixing something in the bathroom. They asked if we would get a drink in the bar for about 45 minutes while they are fixing it. We requested for a similar room instead and after another 10-15 minutes they offered us similar room with a view of a different side of the hotel, overlooking construction. The room was not completely ready for us though and there was stuff to remove before we could settle. After this we still waited for about 15-20 more minutes until our luggage arrived. We paid to be on a club floor and it was very quiet. We had a very large room and it was nice to spread out. The room was very clean and housekeeping came on time everyday and we had turn down service every night. Lots of amenities in the bathrooms. My only two room comments are that the bed was kind of firm, so if u like a soft mattress this hotel […] is not for you. And there was no door to the toilet so only one person could use the bathroom at a time. It would have been better if the toilet had its own separate door. We ate breakfast in the club room every day, lots of food and the fruit was so fresh. Evening cocktails were delicious, but there never seemed to be enough staff. Each evening we had to wait about 30 minutes to get somehting to drink. The staff that was working apologized and was polite, but i would add some more staff to help out during cocktail hour. From the moment you walk into the Hotel you feel as if you are going to be taken care of. After the doorman took our bags we were escorted to the front desk where a lovely lady upgraded our room to have a view on the top floor and then personally assisted us to the room. When we arrived our bags were there and moments later they gave us a pot of tea […] and some chocolate. The maids turned down the bed and made sure the fruit was fresh. Finally settle we go down to eat at the Line. An excellent buffet for about 65 bucks per person... but its an excellent buffet with everything you could ever want and the chefs regularly checking the food to make sure it's top quality. There are even people there just looking to make sure other guests haven't contaminated the food with their fingers. Now I didn't really have the appetite for that so I ordered from the menu. The bill for 2 ended up around 70 bucks and we were stuffed. Since it was late we went back to bed and they had black out blinds to make it pitch black in the room. When we woke up the buffet breakfast was included in the room. You can get the buffet at the line or in a separate hall in the south tower. The separate hall has amazing service and you can get pretty much anything that you want. The Line Buffet is like a brunch buffet where you can get any thing you want and more! Every night they give you fresh fruit and chocolate. Oh and the pool is huge and 9ft deep. By the end it was sad to leave. Read more

I would totally recommend this hotel to all my friends and family. We stayed at the Horizon Club Level and it exceeded my expectations. The breakfast buffet on the 24th floor has a great view of downtown Singapore and the service was great! The Front desk of the lobby were very friendly and helpful. Maybe I was hoping for too much considering this was the head quarters of the Shangri-La. Forget all wings of the hotel except the Valley Wing, not even the Horizon Level in any of the wings is worth it. They all need repair and renovation. From the moment I arrived outside the Shangri-La Hotel to the time I left the service, staff, facilities and food were excellent and I highly recommend staying here for a luxury holiday. What can we say about this hotel other than first rate service. From the moment you arrive until you leave they look after you at every turn. We had ajoining rooms in the north tower overlooking the pool. Rooms we super quite and had everything we could ask for. the pool was a little cramped because of the work being carried out to the Garden Wing, […] but overall good. Having the suttle bus to Orchard station each hour was great, maybe every half an hour during the peak period would be better.
