Staff were very friendly/attentive and helpful. The room was spacious, clean, and well decorated. The overall service was exceptional. Will deffinitely use this hotel again

there's nothing really bad to say about the hotel. the rooms really are stylish if not a little tight and we had upgraded to a king premier. the only other thing is that we stayed over a weekend and the immediate surrounding area is a bit deserted other than theatre goers; coffee houses etc are closed since it's on the brink of the financial district. staff was friendly, helpful and the lobby areas seemed to be hopping at times.

The employees are wonderful. The location is a few blocks off State St and right in the theater district. The price was tremendous for anything around Christmas. The rooms are small but nicely decorated. Very fun and funky. I love the way they divided up the main floor into cozier rooms, each with a slightly different decor.

This is an excellent hotel in most respects, but there was some sort of chalky substance on the floor in the carpeting. The place has been remodeled and I am wondering if it was dry wall dust. There were no drawers in the room to store your clothing thus some of it ended up on the floor and was coated in a white dust which did not easily brush off. I did not have time to complain about this, so I can't say I gave the hotel a chance to remedy the situation, but there is really no excuse for a total lack of drawer space in a hotel room.

Service was wonderful, prompt and friendly. Great little perks, like wine and cheese Happy Hour. Close to theaters, shopping, restaurants. A bit away from the Miracle Mile, but walkable.

We just used the hotel to get ready for a night out downtown and then to sleep afterwards. But, for the price paid, the hotel was very nice - convenient location ($6-7 +tip) cab ride to mag mile and Rush street) I am very picky about bedding and this was a very comfortable bed. And the Aveda toilettries were great. Great water pressure in the shower, too. The room is very small - so if you want to do much other than sleep, this is probably not the hotel for you - but it served our purpose very well.

Closet space a little small, but over all room size was very adaquate. The staff and accomendations were great. I would certainly reccomend the hotel and will probably stay again in the future!

WE BOOKED THIS ROOM AT THE LAST MINUTE DUE TO THEATRE RESERVATIONS AND YOU CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION. THE STAFF WAS COURTEOUS AND THE BEDS WERE COMFORTABLE. HOWEVER, THE WALLS WERE VERY THIN AND WE COULD HEAR THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR TALKING. THE BATHROOMS ARE INCREDIBLY SMALL AND THERE WAS NO COFFEE MAKER. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A GOOD DEAL FOR THE MONEY

Wonderful location and decor.

The room and building itself is great. Clean and modern. Room, European size which is fine. If you read the "Read Me" book in the room and after my experince with the front desk staff I was left feeling very disapointed. 1-I wasn't ushered or even pointed to where I was suppose to go after I entered the hotel - the front desk is on an uper level 2-in checking-in and out the woman at the desk (2 differnt people) were just not personable not rude but...lets just say it seemed that it pained them to smile and be nice 3-I had a 5:30am wake-up call that I didn't order when I mentioned it when I was checking out the woman gave a flimsy apology 4-The heating system did not work properly, room was too hot and took forever to cool down, plus it was noisy. Customer service is big and considering I had stayed in a less "chic" hotel and recieved far superior customrer service the than a known hotel change, left me feeling meh.

As a college student who lives in a very small town I take every chance to get back to the city very seriously. Although I may only stay one night at a time I see every visit as a vacation. Over the last few years I have stayed in many Chicago hotels (all through Hotels.com). Most of these hotels are in a similar price range for the basic king size guest room. The Allegro hotel was by far my favorite place to stay so far. My girlfriend and I were going up to the city on a friday in order to see a concert at the House of Blues(10 minute walk from the hotel). We checked into the hotel around 330, the valet was prompt and polite. The front desk employee was very nice and speedy as well. This hotel has a really unique vibe that really can't be experienced in pictures, very cool and classy. Our room was on the 9th floor and was very clean when we arrived. The guest rooms themselves have a very unique vibe as well. The bedding and pillows were nice but did not exceed my expectations. The bathroom was small(as you will read in many other reviews) but to be honest i'm not a stickler for hugh bathrooms so this did not bother me. The last thing I loved about this hotel was the TV, this may sound strange but a flat screen is a must have for me wherever I stay. I will continue to stay here for my trips to chicago.

We've stayed at this hotel a couple of times and have been pleased each visit. The hotel is grand and the rooms are nicely done with a splash of color.

room was incredibly small (as in almost no space to walk between the bed and dresser)but reasonably well-kept and in a central location

Bellmen were rather pushy. "Wine tasting" was a glorified happy hour with very cheap stuff. Room was fine if small. Location good for theater and not a bad walk to Michigan/museums. Good for price.

Really nice room, great service! The concierge was SO helpful. We were able to check out late as well, which was also very nice. I extended my stay by a day and they even honored my hotels.com price.

Staff did not come to our car to assist us when we pulled up and did not escort us into the building - did not even acknowledge us really; had to wait to get ticket from valet. The rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. Called for valet to bring our car and was told it would be 10 minutes and when we got downstairs no one had even gone to get our car yet. Room and bathroom very small - would not have been pleasant if we were going to spend a lot of time in the room. Definitely would recommend hotel to friends who are going to be basically just sleeping there and spending most of their time enjoying the city and going to the theatre.

The cleanliness of this hotel is what impressed us the most. Everything was spotless and fresh. The hotel was obviously renovated, and everything was so nice and new. Another enjoyable feature was the Happy Hour in the Lobby. A very nice glass of wine and hot appetizers to nibble on! Fantastic! The location is great. You are right in the loop, in the heart of the theatre district. We would go back in a heartbeat!

The Hotel Allegro is a great example of an older hotel doing a great job to stay modern. The only complaint was a small bathroom, however the Aveda products and outstanding water pressure sort of made up for the cramped quarters.

Wonderful experience--great art-deco decor, courteous and efficient staff, lovely room with everything you could need, and super location. 312 next door was a perfect experience for dining!

Great hospitality. They made us feel like stars.

Overall, this is a very good hotel for the money, and the location is great. It is walking distance to all the attractions and shopping hot spot. I only thing I wish this hotel to improve is the business center. Not only it is small, it also charges a hefty fee for the usage. Not too nice for that.

It was perfect. Staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. WE have stayed in many Kimpton Hotels and have always been extremely satisfied.

This hotel is my favorite. Very cool, very hip and in such a great location. Always able to find great deals. Right in the heart of the theatre district. Rooms are very comfortable and interesting. Detail taken on each aspect. Love this place and can't wait to visit again

The room was small...as expected, but very clean, comfortable and modern. I had an interior room with no view, but the benefit was that it was very quiet for a city location. The wine reception was a bonus. This is not the best location for Michigan Avenue shopping, but it would be great for a night at the theater.

We travel to Chicago a great deal and have stayed in several places that have become "regulars" for us. We enjoyed our stay at the Allegro: all the staff were exceptional, the "queen" room was very comfortable, and the location was great. We will definitely book a room there again.

No complaints. The hotel staff made everything easy. They were very accommodating. Additionally, the hotel was well kept, comfortable, and the decor was beautiful.

We stayed at the Allegro Saturday October 24 for one night. Check-in was a breeze & our luggage was delivered to our room promptly. The room & bathroom were a bit on the small side, although the super comfortable bed & other extras (Aveda toiletries!) made up for it. We enjoyed a glass of wine at the wine reception before heading out that evening & really appreciated the amount of seating they offer in the lobby area. We easily found our own space to relax in without feeling overcrowded by the other guests. Overall - great experience & would definitely recommend this hotel!

The service was great, and the hotel was nice. The rooms are not generous in size, and our view was onto the roof of the building next door, but I would stay there again.

I stayed at the hotel in order to run the Chicago Marathon and the staff/hotel was so accomodating to the runners needs. I have stayed at the hotel before and found it very nice. The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable.

everything was perfect. room was just a little too small. very hard for too people to get ready in bathroom.

Took advantage of a 72hr sale so I got a good rate for the Allegro. The hotel is located close to the L train, financial district and Merchandise Mart. My Room was a single Queen and small, with a small bath. The bed was comfortable and the Staff was very nice. I would stay again if the price was right.
