I stayed at this hotel since my partner in Manila recommended it. Was cosy and good to stay. Found interesting to gun screening at the gate. But felt much safer. Would recommend.

Room was kept really clean and service was excellent. However, there is nothing in a walking distance. For any outside restaurant or shopping mall, you have to take a taxi.

Great hotel and very nice grounds around a pool waterfall complex I was upgraded to an executive suite on the top floor and had a great view. The upgrade allowed me to a lounge with food and drinks provided for free Will definitely come back But assume the upgrade was a teaser to get me to book this on my return Staff very friendly and curteous

overall, hotel was WAY OVER PRICED in fact could cost WAY MORE then a United States hotel for instance Hawaii, restuarants was very limited to only there hotel and average buffet was $50 US dollars breakfast way over priced, internet wifi expensive, can't bring outside food, just bad, but people and staff were very friendly, and respectful.

Nice hotel, but I felt like I was being nickled and dimed on all services provided, everything was over priced. I would not use the hotel ATMs if you need cash. They process the transaction, but provide no cash. This was the only time that I stayed at a hotel where I was informed that I could only use two towels a day at the spa.... "nuts"! Good: Service. Staff was extremely helpful, especially wait staff. Nice pool. Nice view over the bay and pleasant ambiance for being in the middle of Manila. Bad: Excessive security, searching all vehicles entering driveway, searching guests bags, making guests walk through metal detectors. Need to enter your room key into a slot just to take the elevator […] to your floor. Expensive, expect to pay full western prices for room, food, beverages and any conveniences (internet, etc.). Unnecessary "greeters" in lobby and elevators whose sole function seems to be to say hello or press the up button for you. Paying someone to say "Good day sir" after being searched does little to make one feel "welcomed". There are so many gracious hotels in the Philippines that treat their guests like guests and not potential criminals and charge reasonable rates for rooms, services and food, that there is little reason to stay here. I'll give it a miss on my next trip. My room smelled of smoke, though I asked for it because they had no nonsmoking rooms with a view of the pool and bay. No complimentary breakfast...in fact it cost $30! Most hotels in the Philippines include breakfast with your room. The higher quality ones put on a very nice buffet with fruits and various Filippino and western foods. Read more

I expected a better experience booking in a 5-star hotel, however this was far from a great experience and would recommend others to check additional hotels in the area. The quality of my order was top notch but my dining experience was the icing on the cake. It has been of the best hotel experiences to date. Love this place and stayed a number of times. Just didn't like the musty smell in the hallways and in the rooms. It only goes away when air on is up. I wish they could give it a fresher air to have a more comfortable atmosphere. I changed rooms twice.

I only spent one night in the hotel. The "rain" shower head did not work and the TV cable was also not working. To be fair, I did not check the TV until the morning when the time change woke me up very early. The folks promised to come up immediately and check this issue, but I was ready to check out. The person standing by to assist if required or even help you develop a work out plan. The "wet" area in the Men's locker room was very clear and well maintained. The attendant brought me water several times and was polite and helpful. I think the hotel has seen better days, but my rating may be unfair because i was just there for one night. The morning breakfast was not included on my rate and was very, very, very expensive - over $20 USD. Hotel rooms are small a "double" room contains two twin beds. According to the staff they have only a few rooms with two double beds. The walls are very thin we could hear all the activity happening next door and had to move rooms in the middle of the night.

The location of the hotel is prime and so is the staff. You'll be amazed by the lobby and the greeters. But once you get to the room the disappointment sets in and you start to wonder where the spacious room went. The advertisement on the web is misleading. This is probably the only decent "resort" hotel in manila. Located on Manila bay -- and quite near the airport -- it has beautifully landscaped grounds and a really nice pool area facing the bay. Hotel shows some signs of wear and tear, but overall it is in very good condition. Rooms are large and most (all?) have little balconies. Amenities and furnishings […] are first rate. Service is a little uneven -- one waitress at the pool was pretty clueless, followed that night by a really outstanding waiter at the restaurant. But all are nice and helpful. Restaurants are limited but food quality and variety is very good. It is probably best to approach this as a resort -- there is nothing nearby -- no local restaurants to walk to or sights to see. But it offers a degree of tropical beauty well secluded from Manila. One other downside is that it appears to be an extremely popular location for weddings, graduation parties, etc. So you can find large crowds in the lobbies and queuing for transportation. And I suspect that those large crowds contribute to the slightly uneven service. But if you are looking for a resort experience in (but a little apart from) Manila, this is a great spot. Read more

We stayed at the Sofitel for 3 days. Staff was very friendly. The Milenium Club on the 10th floor was a great addition to our stay. It was a bit expensive, but for our family it was a great value. The pool area was very family oriented and our kids (4 and 5) had a great time. 75% of the pool is shallow enough that they had no problem getting around. […] Only drawback was that the slides were only for older kids and our kids were disappointed. Maybe a "kiddy" slide would be a great addition. We ate a few meals at the hotel and we were generally please with the quality of the food. Overall rating for this hotel is exactly right -- 4 1/2 stars. has all the elements of a 5-star, just a little off in some (minor) regards. (there are only 2 real 5-star hotels in manila -- the Pen and the Shangrila Makati). The Sofitel's rooms are attractive and well maintained. And service and food are both good. But what makes this place special […] (or problematic) is location. It is pretty close to the airport and right on the water and built so as to screen out your views of manila. Beautiful pool and grounds facing the water. I think this is only real resort hotel in manila. Flip side of the location is that you are pretty isolated -- no shops or restaurants nearby, and with manila traffic it can take a long time to get anywhere. So if you are looking for a great place for a romantic weekend or to take the kids or maybe a place for a business conference away from the crush of manila -- this is a great option. Read more
