"Perfect for shopping"
My wife and I stayed one night and it was a great hotel. Just a quick trip for her to find a dress at the Galleria. Location was perfect. Parked in the free parking below and to the north of the hotel. Left the car there the whole time while staying in the hotel and shopping. Checked out the next day and shopped some more till we left. Upon my arrival, I submitted my credit card for the standard $50 deposit. After going to my room , to dinner, and into the mall, I check my email. I get an email from my bank checking to see if it's me making my purchases. Luckily, the email has them itemized. I the see the hotel charged me an extra $525! Pros: Pet friendly, comfortable bed, quiet (no noises from hallway or other guest rooms or outside), great location (can walk directly into Galleria Mall without even going outside), large room, self parking is free, room service dining was prompt and very tasty, my room had a nice balcony. Cons: Room was not clean, shower didn't work, Internet costs […] $10/day, pool area is rather unattractive, room service prices are very expensive. Conclusion: I will stay here again when in Houston, but I will check the room for housekeeping problems and ask to be moved if I encounter any needed maintenance. Tips: I paid a very high rate for a Wednesday night, a reasonable rate for a Thursday night, and an inexpensive rate for a Friday night. Why? There was a convention. "perfect for our limited needs"
We were just there for a single night, and got in about 9pm, so we didn't use any amenities. The room was great, the location was perfect to walk across to the Grand Lux Cafe (huge menu, great food, great staff), and the shower head had great pressure, once you switched it away from the rainfall to the little movable handheld piece. The elevators are […] different -- you punch the floor you want to go to, and one of the 4 cars will pick you up. If someone gets off the elevator on your floor, don't get on without punching in your number in the hallway first, because it won't know to take you to the floor you want, and there's no floor buttons inside the car! The room and the actual hotel are high quality. For the price, I would like the parking fee to be more reasonable. I could not find a free parking space in the Galleria parking garage for over 30 min and had to valet with the hotel. That alone was a $30 fee plus tip for the 1 night I stayed. "Good Hotel with a Great Location"
We really liked it, this hotel is the perfect location to be around it all. The Hotel smelled clean and looked very elegant. The deluxe king room was overall a nice room with plenty of space and a good view of Houston. The only complaint is the outlets on the desk did not work, so over night my phone did not charge. "Surprising extra cost that weren't expected"
I picked this hotel mainly for its location, paid an ok price for the room und the stars of the hotel. However for staying at a 4-star hotel we expected a few more things to be included like breakfast, which i had no information on when I was booking the stay. Also we didn't have a choice to park our car ourselves so we got extra charges for that as […] well. Then the TV was not working right, and the room pretty dusty. We very well could have stayed at a cheaper notel and still we have never had any of these issues, even when booking a less expensive hotel. We had such a fun stay for our anniversary. It was awesome to come down the elevator and be in the mall. The staff were sooo nice to us and made us feel special. They even gave us a free drink in the bar because it was a special weekend. The bed was so comfy...specialy after we walked the mall..a couple of time. We arrived around 3:45 on Saturday afternoon and were told by the valet to go ahead and check in and they would bring our bags right up to our room so we did just that. We checked in and requested a room with a mini-fridge, the clerk told us she had one ready and sent us on our way. We arrived in our room (which was very spacious and pleasant) but discovered […] that the fridge did not work so we called the front desk and they said they would send maintenance up, he arrived with a new mini-fridge so we put all of our items in it. We had dinner reservations at 6:30 so we started calling the front desk at 5:00 because we still did not have our bags, they assured us the bags were on their way! Called again at 5:30, 5:45 and 6:00, our bags did not arrive until 6:15, approx 2.5 hours past the time we checked in, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! When I called at 6:00 I asked to speak to a manager but they told me the valet is not through Westin but that the manager was busy anyway! Another unacceptable response! Needless to say we missed our 6:30 dinner reservations since we did not receive our bags until 6:15! Also, When we opened the mini-fridge the next morning to remove our breakfast items we discovered that the new fridge was not working either so some of our items were spoiled!!!!!!!
