"Night of our wedding +2"
It was excellent. Service was top notch. Called in advance to have flowers and chocolates arranged in the room. When we arrived we were upgraded to a suite and the room was arranged lovely for our wedding night. Really have nothing bad to say. Room service was excellent, location is obviously excellent. "glamorous hotel for the city"
From the way you operate the lights to having the ice sent to the room. All was so beautiful. Wonderful stay. And the ottamn with the two plush chairs. And the soft soft bed.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Felt like Eloise"
Of the hotels I have stayed at in New York, this one was by far the most beautiful--a historic hotel with all the charms of yesteryear. The facade is undergoing maintenance, so I wouldn't pay for a room with a view. The noise level was never an issue. At one point, the elevators stopped working for an hour. The delay did create an issue for me, but […] the hotel mitigated it. I stayed in a deluxe room. The rooms are gorgeous. The bathrooms are large and modernly layed out. The Fitzgerald afternoon tea service in the Palm Court is not to be missed. The Champagne bar and the Food Hall are also wonderful. The Plaza has no proper dining option and room service is not up to Fairmont standards. The location is perfect and very convenient. There were always many tourists in and around the hotel (some rather uncouth), however, they were never more than a minor inconvenience, and I cannot blame them for wanting to admire the beautiful landmark. The Plaza has been a muse for many works of literature from the Eloise series to Fitgerald's The Great Gatsby. The plaza embraces this through the Fitzgerald tea, the Gatsby cocktail and the Eloise menu selections. By far the most impressive thing about my stay (as is the same with all my Fairmont stays minus Banff Springs) was the impeccable service. You will not find better service at another hotel in New York. I strongly suggest staying at the Plaza hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We arrived at The Plaza at 11:30am following our arrival from the airport, however our suite wasn't ready yet. In fact, we didn't get into our room until after 4pm, which foiled some of our daytime plans. That being said, the staff was very gracious, offering complimentary cocktails as well as complimentary breakfast the following morning. Upon entering […] our room, we also noticed that it was an upgrade from the original suite we chose. Needless to say, they more than made up for the time we lost. The hotel was gorgeous and as classic as we expected. We were in the Edwardian Suite, which was exceptionally spacious, clean, and regal. My husband was obsessed with being able to control the room (lights, a/c etc.) via an i-pad. It was quite the romantic place to spend our anniversary. One of the staff members, Boon, was especially attentive to us during check-in and did his job explicably. It was nice being right across from Central Park, being able to take a morning stroll after breakfast. The meals will cost you a pretty penny if you choose to dine in the hotel but, that's to be expected. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Plaza- in fact, my husband and I will probably make it an anniversary tradition! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Terrible experience at the Plaza"
Restaurant staff have horrible attitudes and you will never hear the word THANK YOU after you pay your bill. 1 bathroom in the Hotel and its always dirty and smells. I had one suite and two rooms for 2 weeks and one day before check-out, I asked for 1 hour extension. They refused and the next day I had the head house keeping knocking on my door at 12 […] asking when am leaving. The new laundry clothes are all wrinkled when they deliver them. They even wrongly delivered clothes to our room and we told them it belongs to someone else. When we checked-out the clothes were still there since a week. Even some of the Hotel staff admitted the management is a complete failure. This hotel is lightening years behind the Likes of Fourseasons or the St. Regis. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Classic NYC - Under Construction"
Staying at a luxury property like the Plaza should be a real treat. Sure, the staff was friendly, the room was very nice, and the location was perfect, however for the price paid for this room, I could only feel disappointed in my stay. When you plan to stay at a first class property, you know in advance everything is going to be expensive - and it […] was. I have no problem paying for first class - and even expect to be shocked sometimes. The Plaza pushed this to new levels - as I paid $52 for bottled water and a slice of cheesecake via room service. Sure there were NY City taxes, sure the built in delivery charge of $8 was steep, and sure the gratuity I left was not too small, but the cheesecake wasn't very good, and the water was warm. Beyond the pricing, nowhere on the plaza website (which has many broken links) does it mention the entire building is covered in scaffolding. So much so - they wrap the building in a canvas with an image of what the plaza must have looked like. Much of New York seems to be under scaffolding - and as a guest, the city has covered up its assets with a mask of construction. Sidewalks are narrowed - and - well - that's just the city I guess. Because of the location, tourists flocking to central park are abundant outside the front door. Perhaps frustrated by this, the door man could almost be snotty when asking for a cab – let alone the promised hotel car. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

the Plaza doesn't have the best view on the hotel side of the property -- you see a slice of the park-- but it's lovely and the room is spacious and the bathroom is an older style, with the shower in the bathtub, but it's done well and there's plenty of room to stretch out in. I may not be Romeo, but I am with Yuliet, yes not Juliet. The Plaza is The Plaza. Best breakfast setting in all NYC. The Palm Court is just amazing. "THE Hotel of Preference when staying in New York!"
I would like to comment that the staff was excellent. Juliet, and Bill at the concierge desk were great. However, Kevin that worked the door for the past 17 years was admirable. These and 2 ladies in housekeeping were examples of how people should be when working with the public. All fine human beings. I am most grateful for their help and kindnesses. Sincerely, Judy […] W. "Smoke and Mirrors"
The hotel room was comfortable and spacious...except there were a couple of things I wasn't expecting. For example, the mirror in the bar area was badly stained. And, in the restroom, the bathroom paper roller was being held together by grey duck tape. The carpet seemed like it had seen it's share of stains and it was too noticeable for me not to forget. […] For a top luxury hotel, I wasn't expecting those type of poor kept items. I'm not saying the hotel wasn't a good one. "It's No Jewel On the Park"
When you stay at the Plaza, you expect impeccable service. I was so disappointed with the reality. From the doorman, to the bellman, to the servers in the Champagne Bar, we were treated with indifference. Staying at the Plaza was supposed to be a special treat. It turned out to be an expensive mistake.Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff was unattentive. Concierge makes you wait 10 minutes and doesn't acknowledge you there. No communication because front desk representative misquoted where the gym was. They sent us to a room on the 19th floor that looked like a setup. The only staff that was courteous were the maids.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One of the greatest trips ever!"
This past week was our first visit to NYC, and the trip was my daughter's 18th birthday gift from our family. Mother and daughter, two Oklahoma girls in the big city by ourselves! The minute we set foot in The Plaza, we felt at ease! The staff, from the front desk, concierge, bellmen, and house keeping, were all so cordial, helpful and friendly! Our […] first night in the city we came in after supper and shopping to find a birthday cake waiting for us along with all the other evening turn down service perks! My daughter was THRILLED! On the day that we were to leave, we discovered that the shuttle that was called (by the concierge) was not the shuttle that I had prepaid for. The concierge apologized for his error, and called the hotel limo to drive us to the airport! (complete with ice cold water for the drive!) Total experience was wonderful! The hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was elegant and comfortable. And the staff was very friendly and accommodating! We will definitely visit The Plaza again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I reserved a room for my parents' anniversary and their stay was amazing - they even got to check in early! Even in NYC, you will want to spend the night 'in' to enjoy the hotel. Great staff and service!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The space in the room and bath for a NYC hotel was remarkable. The staff was every helpful, not New York haughty, as is so often the case. The room was worth every penny. The cost of room service, however, was beyond the pale - twenty dollars for a cup of coffee. Luckily there is Green Cafe take-out location on the 58th St. side to get around this when […] the guest has the time to go. One other small problem was that the electronic room service ordering system doesn't work all the time. Other than these issues, I would recommend this hotel unreservedly. "Feels Like a Cash Grab"
Out stay was short and sweet. Liked the room. Wouldn't have minded a different view. Might book again. Concierge did not have all her facts straight about the sight seeing bus and I would not recommend the on-off bus to anyone. She forgot to mention it ends at 5:00 pm and that we shouldn't miss the last bus. Luckily it was extremely hot that day and […] we couldn't take the extensive waiting time for the bus at each stop, another thing she forgot to mention. As well, If you don't like the sun beating down on you in summer, don't take the on-off sight seeing bus. Not to mention, if you're tall, watch out for tree branches and street signs! Would never take the on off bus again. Concierge should experience activities before they recommend them to their guests. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Plaza Hotel Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback, and I will be sure to share your comments with our team as well. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Plaza at perhaps a different time of year. I recommend New York City in the winter around the holidays when the city is cooler and all the decorations and lights are on display. It is truly magical!
"Great location - and an oasis in bustling NYC"
Beautifully refurbished, the Plaza lived up to expectations. Brilliantly located on corner of Central Park South, just at 5th Ave Subway stop. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and probably the quietest hotel room we'd ever slept in - no disturbances from other guests or noise from the streets below. (We were on the 18th Floor.) Generous and good-quality […] toiletries, well-proportioned bathroom with separate shower room. Staff always happy to help, but discreet. We only ate once in the hotel - in the Todd English restaurant. Food was really good, but we had to sit at the counter, as there's not a very big seating area. Good variety of options in the Food Hall, and lively atmosphere. We'd definitely consider another visit - which is rare for us as we prefer trying new places. Would certainly recommend it.
