"Great hotel but awful check-in experience"
I traveled here during a conference so prices were high. When I checked in with my colleague, the person checking me in informed me that they didn't have a room for me for my entire stay, and that they would have to move me mid-stay. She also suggested in front of my colleague who was being upgraded to a suite since they were out of rooms that I instead […] bunk up with her and sleep on her sleeper sofa. This was really awkward because then I had to refuse in front of my colleague and it was a really uncomfortable situation. Additionally, she didn't really even seem to apologize, but more just stated it like that's just the way it is and launched into some speech about how managing guest rooms are like putting together puzzle pieces. All I got from this conversation is that I was the least important between the other guest who apparently also booked my room at the same time, not to mention that i'm was paying top dollar to NOT have to worry about the logistics of the hotel and their rooming situation. It seems to me that they shouldn't market a room as available (and allow someone to pay for it!) if it's indeed NOT available. When I said I wouldn't be around to move my stuff (because I was there on business and would be busy), she said they would be happy to move my stuff for me free of charge, like they were doing me a big favor. "Disappointed with customer service"
The Westin was in a great location for shopping, sight seeing. The room was beautifully furnished and the view was amazing. However we woke the morning of our overnight stay to a sloshing wet rug halfway across the room. We contacted the desk and they sent a gentleman up with a machine to suck up the water (which was not working). I think it may have […] been a pipe leaking. I was in town for a convention at Hynes. Having this Westin as one of the anchors at Copley Place, adjacent to the convention center, made it an easy, convenient choice for my stay. "Great location, but rather disappointing."
The location -- right off Copley Square -- could not have been better, but I was a bit disappointed with the hotel itself. On my first evening, I was having a problem with the thermostat. It took three phone calls to the front desk, and approximately one hour, before somebody from maintenance came up. Although the cleaning staff made my bed while […] I was there, the room and bathroom left in disarray and never tidied up. I was a bit ill on my final evening, I decided to order room service. I picked up the room service menu and saw that it was covered with stains from a prior occupant. The sandwich I ordered from room service was supposed to have been toasted, it was luke warm. I will say that the staff was very friendly and tried to be helpful; and anyone who wants to work out would be very happy with the gym. "Was not happy at all"
the only thing I liked about the hotel is that the beds were comfy, the shower was nice and it was close to the shopping. I was not happy with the fact that I had left something important in my car and I had to keep checking for the next 2-1/2 hours to see if they had located it. I went out for the evening in the snow storm (12/14) and could not find […] a taxi. I called the hotel for assistance to see if they could call for one for me. The man I reached on the main no. said yes and he would transfer me to the garage. When he did the second person said they don't do that but he would give me a number to call - not having anything to write with or on in the middle of the storm, I wrote it down in the snow and then dropped my cell phone after which it did not work; hence no call to the cab co. We spent one night at the Westin for a holiday party. There was three of us. The room was lovely with a view of Boston. The bed was very comfortable and room was spotless. The staff was very pleasant. It was what I expected from an high end boston hotel. Directly connected by covered walkway to copley shopping. Cons: Beds are full size beds, not queens. […] They really should upgrade to queens for the price of the hotel. Also, missing some TV stations such as SyFy which I find most of the cheap hotels have. Also parking was confusing. We thought it was self-park but when we got there it was only valet. Next day a sign said self park only - never did find the parking garage entrance. Nickel and Dime policy - charge for everything on top of the price. $49 a day for parking. Bottled water in the room is $4 a bottle. Internet is $15 dollars a day. Breakfast was ok in the hotel. The Westin Copley Place is a true gem. Besides the Lenox, this is my favorite Boston hotel. Service is impeccable. Management and staff are incredible. The hotel is immaculate. There is a […] nice shop in the lobby that sells salads and sandwiches. Just outside the lobby is a terrific Starbucks. The hotel is connected to a huge, high-end mall. It's a wonderful shopping experience. Walk out the front door and you are literally on Newbury and Boylston street within 5 minutes. There is Bar 10 restaurant and bar in the lobby. Every meal I've eaten there has been perfect. Also a few large screens to watch the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and of course, the 2013 World Series champion Red Sox. If you choose to watch depressing losers, just ask the bartender to turn the channel to the Yankees game. As for the rooms: Fantastic! When we checked in, the room had a layer of dust over everything. The safe was not working and when we left after 4 days, it was still not working. The bathtub drain was clogged and an engineer had to unclog it. The bathroom was small and badly lit. There was no exhaust or heat in the bathroom. The beds were wonderful.
