Great hotel. Exceptional service. But as mentioned by other reviewers, room service and the restaurants were very expensive. But for the price of the room I can't complain. Don't be worried about the price of food. The hotel is attached to a large mall with a food court and many other nice restaurants in walking distance.

The hotel was pretty good. The view was nice -- the best part of the stay. The room fairly well appointed, but looked a bit dated compared to other nearby hotels. The prices for food and drink are outrageous, even by Singapore standards. The breakfast buffet was fairly extensive, but cost $48. I could not eat enough to make it worth it. It was not great, just good. You can get breakfast downstairs at McDonalds for $5, and it is also good, but not great (as usual!) Dinner at the top of the house had great view, but the food was only so-so. Small portions, but not super high quality that is usually associated with small portions. Dinner was nothing to write home about, and cost $420 for 4 of us (no wine). I had scallops, and have had much better scallops in the past for much less money. The stay was OK since I was here on business, but I would feel ripped off if I was paying my own way.

The swisshotel stamford (note there is more than one swisshotel in sing), is a great location in city hall district, connected to the fairmont, shopping mall, and MRT subway station. right across from the famous Raffles Hotel. The service did exceed my expectations and concierge staff excellent. There was a roach in my room and I was moved to a corner suite with an amazing view, a super free upgrade for the unfortunate incident. The views from the room (get a high floor room) are magnificent.

I've stayed in this hotel for three visits to Singapore. It is quite pleasant, and the staff all have a total "can do" attitude. I happened to mention to the turn-down service staff that my refrigerator didn't seem too cold - within 5 minutes (not joking), a staff member showed up with a new refrigerator which was ice cold, and he transferred everything. It is convenient to everything and connected to a major shopping mall with many great restaurants.

A wonderful hotel in a great location, across the street from Raffles, adjacent to a wonderful mall & restaurant complex, and atop a subway stop. The service is top notch, and the room was large, comfortable, and had a fantastic view of the harbor from the 53rd floor. Highly recommended. And the price was right!

I stayed in this hotel for 11 days and normally by day four or five you'd be finding faults or things that annoy you but I have to say that I found no fault at all with the hotel. The facilities are great, the views fantastic and the hotel staff were all really helpful. The hotel is ideally located for the central attractions and the MRT station is directly below the hotel. I will definitely stay here again.

Reviewed by b of Global traveller on Aug 16, 2008
I have lived and worked in Singapore and stayed at dozens of the top end hotels over the past 20 years. In my experience, I have never been so flagrantly asked for a tip from Singapore hotel staff. The country prides itself on ensuring that everyone is paid for the work they do and that a tip is only for exceptional (not normal) service. When the hotel was the Westin, rather than Swissotel, it wasn't like this. Everything else worked - room, food, internet (if a bit expensive and slow). Even the lifts performed as they should!
