"On a hill"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 25, 2013
Hotel was very nice and they would respond quickly to any request. When you drive there you can't believe there is going to be a hotel in this residential area. It is on top of a steep hill, but you can walk out the back and cut this hill in half. We did not use our car, everything was in walking distance.
"ok for mid city room."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 1, 2013
Small room in mid city. Parking fee extra, not too convenient and no help. Also had to pay room deposit. Awakened at night by noisy people in the hall.
"Good Value"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 29, 2013
Centrally located, clean and comfortable rooms. Nice cafe/bar in lobby. Good value for cost.
"Great deal for long stays"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 6, 2013
We stayed over a week, and with the steep discounts at 5 nights and over, it was cheaper than a hostel would've been for the two of us. The hotel is aged, but it is not without charm because of it. The staff is very helpful, and the location, directly across from the Botanic Gardens, can't be beat. The Wi-fi was spotty, but free. If you are looking for budget accommodations and your priorities include the privacy of your own room and bathroom, I recommend Silver Oaks over any hostel. I would definitely stay here again, even for a shorter stay.

"Needs some refreshing..."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 5, 2012
Fantastic location - within easy walking distance of all the best shopping, nightlife, restaurants, Victoria University and even Parliament. Still, the whole place is a giant tribute to about 1987... sort of a New Zealand version of a Donald Trump property. Very nice staff and good breakfast buffet, but needs some remodeling! Room very clean but a little tired...

"Nice Hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Very nice hotel. Room was clean, staff was friendly. The hotel has really good food and we ate there the two nights we stayed. Location wise, its a hike to the nearest restaurant and to CBD. Pretty much the location is the only negative we have but its a short drive if you have a car.
"Cheap, Convenient, Clean but Dated."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 8, 2012
If you are looking for a clean place close to Restaurants, bars, the museum etc and aren't worried about staying in top notch accommodations, this is a great place. There is a New World across the street, parking lot out back, a 2 minute walk to bars, restaurants, the museum. Great way to see Wellington on a budget.
"Great place to stay, with only one issue"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 11, 2011
Looks like an older building that has been nicely furnished -- so it has some flaws, but they can be considered character. There is no air conditioning (I guess Wellington's climate doesn't really call for it), but the front desk supplied a fan upon request; between that and the open window everyone was comfortable. Convenient location, but sound traveled easily from the street and from the next room. Very big, spacious, and very nice staff. Loved the provided hot cocoa! My only real complaint is that the water in the shower was always scalding (turning the knob just gave you less water pressure but didn't change the temperature).
