We, stayed at Sails while in Taupo for our older son's wedding. Best managed Quality property we've ever stayed in. Well maintained, clean, and friendly. Location directly across road from beach and an easy 10 min walk into town. Great to have laundry facilities on site. Our younger son and his wife stayed in a front unit, had a superb lake veiw, and did not find traffic noise kept them awake. Understand Choice chain moved their Quality branding to another property in Taupo in January because they had a restaurant. Choice's loss!

I chose Taupo as a "home base" for my recent trip to the North Island and found my room at the Colonial Lodge to be wonderful. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable. The spa bathtub was much appreciated after long days of driving to see sights such as the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, the Hobbiton Movie Set and Farm Tours near Matamata, and the geothermal park Orakei Korako - Hidden Valley (only 30 minutes drive from Taupo). The property owners/managers were very kind and helpful in my travels.

We all had a most comfortable stay at the Suncourt Hotel. The rooms were excellent and it was close to the interesting parts of the town.
