"Great option in the heart of Amsterdam."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 9, 2013
It was a great experience to stay here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very convenient. The location is hard to beat. I requested a room with a view and our windows opened up to Rembrandt plaza. They tell you to choose, a room inside is quieter or a room with a view comes with street noise. I didn´t care about the noise I wanted a view of the plaza. Right outside there´s a tram station and from there you can go anywhere in the city. Here´s the plus:I forgot my camera memory card with all our trip pictures in the safety box, so I called them as soon as I landed in the US and the front desk lady (Fida) was extremely helpful and mailed it back to my home. I 100% recommend this hotel.

"Easy access, very friendly and helpful staff"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 3, 2013
I love staying at the Asterisk. It is easy to reach via tram from Central Station. It's only a short walk or tram ride to the Museum District and the Leidesplein area.I have stayed there several times and like the personal attention from the staff. Although some of the rooms are quite small, they are always clean and comfortable enough if you aren't planning on spending a lot of time in your room. Free WiFi is provided.

It was a wonderful place. One negative is the very steep staircase. The location is excellent.

Excellent location and nice management. The rooms are basic, but the beds were really comfortable. Really enjoyed my stay.
"Quiet and Close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 25, 2012
I stayed in a single room. My room was recently renovated with an excellent bathroom and clean. They do not change your sheets unless you request it. This hotel is just off the main drag and was quiet. I thought this was a great value and I would stay here again.
"Escape with friends"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 1, 2012
Our stay was a great experience at the Hotel Washington. We're were given the option of changing our reservation to an apartment when we arrived, which was excellent if up a flight of 40 stairs. A good gauge of your sobriety if you are young enough to need this, lol. If you are a bit older or have bad knees etc. I would recommend requesting a ground floor room. The bathroom in our apartment was very large, water very hot, and unlike some places I've stayed in Europe the windows all opened. The kitchen in the apartment had everything we needed to cook while we were there, although we did not cook for breakfast as a nice continental breakfast was part of our room rate. Cereal, toast, scrambled eggs, coffee, tea and juices were available and a wide selection of breads... the sweet belgium waffles were a treat to be had. The location was right around the corner from the Museumplien and down the road from almost anything you could possibly want to see. Nice and quiet at night, beautiful neighborhood with very friendly locals. I would recommend this Hotel over staying downtown by the station or other trendy locales. When I return I will be making reservations here again.
"My return to Amsterdam"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Sep 29, 2012
When I arrived at the Hotel Clemens, the man at the desk greeted me, brought my bag to the room, and offered a complimentary coffee, which I enjoyed out on the balcony overlooking the Raadhuisstraat. What a nice way to start my stay! The single buget room was simple, clean, queit and attractive. I even had a room with a view and fresh air. It had a safe, a sink, and a refridgerator. The shower and toilet where down the hall as expected. My room was made up every day, as well as, supplied with new towels. The breakfast was great, which included: a choice of juice, bread, cereal, deli meats, cheese, fruit, a coffee machine(with a selection of different varieties), and a choice of tea. In other words, a good hearty meal to begin each day. As for the location of the hotel, it was perfect only a 15 minute walk from Centraal Station, 5 minutes to the Westerkerk, and 10 minutes to the Anne Frank house. Other attractions where easily reached in about a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, including the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. A note of caution for people, the staircase is steep and two stories to get to the lobby. From the lobby, my room was just one floor up. For me this was not a problem, as I enjoy the real experience of traveling and the character of a family run establishment. The Raadhuisstraat is a major street in the city with easy access to buses and trams, although I would encourage you to walk through this city of canals. My stay was for the week of September 15-22 2012.
