"Awesome Location Mediocre Room"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 24, 2013
The Buenaventura is located just a few blocks from the "happenin" Malecon and restaurants. We did not do all-inclusive during our stay so that we can enjoy the restaurants in the town. We were promised a European Plan breakfast through Hotels.com at this hotel, but the hotel didn't know about that deal. We explained to the manager and showed them our printed confirmation and they honored the request. For that fact, I think the staff was attentive to our needs. The condition of the hotel was nice, except that our hotel room door wouldn't lock. Our room was located on the street side of the hotel without a balcony, so it was a little noisy, but ok. The bathroom smelled a little like mildew, which is common in warm climates. The lock on the room safe was busted open, and not usable! The staff was all very friendly. The pool side entertainment was fun. The pools and grounds were great. I would stay here again due to it's location and that it was a clean hotel.

Great location, clean, great service. Hotel staff allowed a 3 pm check out due to 5 pm flight even though check out is 12 pm at no charge.
"very pleasent stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 4, 2013
The staff were professional and very friendly. The room was comfortable, nice view, and good location. Excellent water pressure in the shower. Pool was a little cold but it was January! The only problem was we did not receive the room we booked, upon arrival they said there had been a mistake and we were given a much smaller room. It was still fine for us as there were only 2 of us and when we made a comment at check out they told us we should have told them the first day that we did not want the room and they would have worked out something else so my bad for not saying anything but as I stated the room was fine. Would gladly stay there again.

"Nice brach, perfect location, old hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 29, 2013
This hotel is in one of the most beautiful locations Conchas Chinas, close to to the romantic zone, downtown, Mismaloya, and Malecon. The hotel condition is old, there is not much going on but still fine for its price. I recommend it for family. Service in general was fine, they do pay attention to your requests. The beach is clean and the water clear but the sand is annoying. The view from the restaurant which is on top of the hotel was the mos beautiful feature of this hotel, you will never forget it. I had a great time with friends and would comeback again. No internet in the rooms.

"The staff are what make this resort awesome!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 7, 2013
I stayed at the Friendly (Hola) Vallarta for 4 nights between Christmas and New Year's Eve. I can't emphasize enough how amazing the staff were - from the maids, bartenders, waiters, activities directors, bellhop - ALL of them are super nice and exactly what they claim - FRIENDLY! Always happy, ready to make you laugh and go above/beyond to make you smile. The rooms are charming, only slightly dated/worn but kept very clean. The grounds were impeccably maintained, but during this busy season it was hard during peak hours to find a lounger/chair. I was also surprised to find the majority of the guests were from Mexico, but I guess that is common during the week I stayed.
