This bustling Downtown district, built around the gorgeous Parque de las Palapas, is brimming with exciting craft stores and delectable taco stalls, and is the thrilling heart of Old Cancun. Shop 'til you drop at the Plaza Las Americas, or absorb the sumptuous local culture at the vibrant open-air Market 28. For an authentic Cancun night out, head to Yaxchilan Avenue, where the locals party into the early hours.
With the soft golden sand of the sprawling Hotel Zone beach between your toes and the soothing Caribbean Sea breeze in your hair, you'll get why Cancun is one of the world's great playgrounds. Dance the night away down Boulevard Kukulcan to everything from pulsating R&B to flamboyant local salsa, or snorkel in the breathtaking reefs out to sea. If you can drag yourself from the beach, that is.
A crisp, white enclave of tranquil coastline surrounded by rippling seas, Isla Mujeres is a relaxing tonic to the bustle of Cancun. The Underwater Sculpture Museum, where eerily detailed stone figures line the seabed, is a must for divers and art-lovers alike, while the impressive Mayan monuments at Punta Sur will delight history-buffs. And to experience the breathtaking local wildlife, take a dolphin tour off Playa Norte beach.
The idyllic beach neighborhood of Playa Mujeres, lined with all-inclusive resort hotels and surrounded by baby-blue seas, is a soothing paradise just 20 minutes from Downtown Cancun. Have fun on dry land with 18 holes at the sumptuous Greg Norman-designed Playa Mujeres Golf Course, which boasts some of the most pristine greens and incredible views in Mexico, or pop down to Lopez Portillo Avenue for the freshest local seafood.
This charming residential district is a relaxing retreat from the 24/7 buzz of Downtown Cancun. Delve deep into the rich history of Mexico at the El Meco Ruins, where Mayan stone pyramids still stand, and then catch a ferry over to Isla Mujeres island from the Puerto Juarez Pier. Or simply stroll down the pier, stare out across the shimmering Caribbean Sea and let all your troubles melt away.

"Great hotel but no elevator...many stairs."

We loved this hotel. The food was delicious and healthy. The staff were kind and helpful. We went with my elderly mother and this is not a good hotel for people with walking disabilities as there are many stairs and no elevator.

I stayed at the Royal Solaris in March 2014 for a bachelorette party with a group of 7 girls in the 26-30 age range. As soon as we arrived we were so excited--the entry way, view of the ocean, and check-in process were all wonderful. We were able to get 2 ocean view rooms (I truly reccomend because the water is gorgeous) near each other. The beach was hands down the best part. Our beach waiter Roberto was the bomb and we tipped him heavily to continually bring drinks, and it was very easy to snag lounge chairs. The food at Marco Polo was a HUGE disappointment, and I was worried for a brief moment that we had made a bad decision because this was our first dinner at the resort. Breakfast on the other hand is by far the best food choice--and I feel like that's how it is at most all-inclusive resorts. Lunch and dinner everywhere else were pretty decent except for Marco Polo, and MP is supposed to be the nicest restaurant in the resort...?
My only complaint about this resort is the slight lack of service. Anyone that seemed to be doing a great job we tipped very well--and we were very grateful. But the waiters at Marco Polo and also at the outdoor restaurant just seemed to never be around! We could not figure it out...oh, and the hot tub is never really hot. And it's packed...just FYI.
Nevertheless, I would go back in a heartbeat. Now that I know where the good food is and how to go about things. The beach is fab, the hotel is gorgeous and clean, the rooms are nothing to write home about but come on--you just want a good view, a bed that isn't a rock, clean towels daily and you're set.

The hotel has tried to upgrade and refurbish their rooms, but we had a cigarette burn in one of the bedspreads and our room smelled like sewage. The towels were thick, but no washcloths were provided. There was a hairdryer, but the only soap was a liquid in a wall dispenser - one near the sink and one in the shower. No refrigerator to keep any drinks cold. Nice pool, very clean. Close to one of the best Mexican restaurants in Cancun - La Parilla - and a pharmacy where we bought air freshener.

This was a great place, but I felt it was a bit rundown for a Westin, and it's prices! We also wish we would have been informed of their all-inclusive option at check-in, rather than waiting for us to rack up our first bar tab. Great location to the airport, which is why we chose to stay there our last night.
