good hotel
"Nice simple hotel, questionable price/value ratio"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 26, 2012
We booked the Il Gabbiano in the last minute as a base for a trip to Cinque Terre. Welcomed by a friendly receptionist who told us we actually have half-board (dinner and breakfast) included. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, although the crucifix hanging on the wall above the bed (impossible to be taken off) was quite surprising for two non-believers. Only small towels available in the bathroom. No WiFi available in the room, only in the reception area. The guest house was walking distance to the cruise port, however, relatively far from the railway station to take the train to the villages of Cinque Terre. All in all, probably not worth the price paid, since we also had to skip the dinner due to the Cinque Terre trip. Positives: - Spacious room with comfortable bed - Very friendly staff - Tasty breakfast (and dinner also included in the rate) Negatives: - Far away from the train station - Only small towels available in the bathroom - No WiFi reception in the room, only in the reception area
"Friendly, family run place"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 26, 2012
The family that runs this hotel bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and were so helpful. They were delightful to interact with. The room was fairly clean and comfortable, but had a minor odor. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the La Spezia train station making it very convenient to get to the Cinque Terra. We would definitely stay here again.
