"Beautiful restoration, miserable local knowledge"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Dec 8, 2012
Hotel is located in beautifully restored pallazo, breakfast room is sumptuous. Breakfast less so although it improved noticeably on our third day. Stayed in "hibiscus room" which is closet-like with no windows but not claustrophobic due to window in second room which looks over hotel car park and is very quiet and a mirror wall. Staff is astonishingly inept at recommendations. We were sent to a "gelato place" which actually only had ice cream bars, a restaurant that we couldn't get into because we needed reservations, a chocolate shop that was closed, another restaurant that was closed. This was all from different people so it was not due to some instinctive dislike from a single employee and seemed instead simply stellar ineptness. We would stay there again. Location is right across from duomo and tourist office which was very helpful and about 2blocks from the pascale gelatoria, pattiseria, chocolateria and aracine place which is definitely worth a visit.
"San Giorgio Palace - Perfect!!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 15, 2011
This modern, six room hotel was built into the side of a mountain/cliff. We stayed here for five nights in July and were very impressed. Our room was huge, very clean, modern and comfortable. The big double window opens up to reveal a view of the hills, offering stunning sunsets each evening. The table and chairs just in front of this bay window is the nearest thing to a balcony this architectural feat can provide and was a wonderful feature. The contents of the mini-bar were free (non-alcoholic beverages). The reception staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and spoke english. The gentleman at reception (regretfully we didn't get his name) went out of his way to help us, recommended places to visit and even happily translated the menu at the restaurant for us, suggesting local dishes to try. The personal touch was very refreshing. Breakfast was the best we had in Italy; there was a wonderful selection of foods for everyone's taste. Parking is free on the street below which you have access to via an elevator and tunnel built into the mountain (it is unique and very James Bond-esque). San Giorgio Palace is very well located just a 2-3 minute walk from the centre of beautiful Ragusa. The only issue we could find (and we were searching) is that the shower door was a bit tricky to open at times but we were told about it when we were escorted to our room and personally shown around. It was a non-issue for us but good to know. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at San Giorgio Palace, loved Ragusa and would return in a heartbeat. We highly recommend this little gem - you won't be disappointed.

"Hotel Eremo della Giubiliana in Sicily"Reviewed by Bonnie L of "Somona California" on Jun 1, 2010
The Staff was lovely - greeting us with a glass of blood orange juice when we arrived while the porter took our luggage to our rooms. This was our forth holel during our 14 day vacation in Sicily. The rooms were very small - I am sorry I didn't stay with my first request - the cottages. We tried to upgrade but 20 guests were coming the next day so it wasn't possible. WIFI was not free as it had been at other hotels. The location was terrific - the landscaping was lovely - the staff was very helpful. The Breakfast were wonderful with fresh baked bread - a wonderful home made blood orange marmalade. Dinner was also very good but on the expensive side. We only ate dinner there one night - there were other - less pricey restaurants near by. The Hotel is far enough off the main road to provide a relaxed county feel. I would go back in a second! And I would recommend it - I would reserve the cottages next time. Oh they also make a great wine!
"Great place to stay the night"Reviewed by John C of "Catania" on Sep 8, 2009
Very clean and spacious rooms with a good sized balcony. The location is within walking distance to most, if not all, attractions and beaches in the city. The hotel's restaraunt had great food and great service in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The hotel is enclosed in a stone fence and security is outstanding, eliminating any worries about safety. The pool is very family friendly as well.
