Seaside promenades lead around the bay on a Naples city break, and Mount Vesuvius hovers magically on...

Wonderful stay at the Mercure Napoli Angioino Centro. Very good location (minutes walk from the opera house, royal palace, etc.) Superb staff -- very nice quiet bar off of the lobby: perfect for an evening drink. Room was good sized, clean, with excellent Wi-Fi.

The very helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast and affordable price make up for the filthy and rundown section of town where this hotel is located.
"I would stay here again and again"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 26, 2013
Maxim, the owner, is a fantastic host. The place is hard to find and the outside is grim but once inside it is spectacular. The rooms are huge. The breakfast room/ lounge is elegant, the breakfast is more than adequate. It is a quick walk to the Archaelogical Museo and the Duomo. It is deep within a neighborhood so you get a feel for the real Naples not the touristy standard movie shot of the harbor. Maxim escorted me to a restaurant and then came back and got me (I am an older woman traveling solo) as he didn't want me to get lost in the dark. Be aware the B & B is up 58 stone steps (but Maxim will help carry your bags). I missed the place as soon as I left.
"Nice for the price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 25, 2013
We enjoyed our stay at the Piazza Bellini but finding it was a bit confusing. The Hotel was much as others have described it. Rooms were very clean, with hardwood floors, modern shower, and comfortable beds. Staff were pleasant, professional, and spoke good English. Courtyard would have been welcoming had it not rained the entire time we were there. The breakfast was superb. Having large mugs if strong coffee is a rare treat just about anywhere in Europe. The neighborhood may seem iffy, especially at first, but there are a few nice places on the piazza. Walking to via Toledo and the furniculars is a snap. We'll gladly stay here again if we're ever nack in Napoli.

"Great option."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 21, 2013
It was just what we needed: a CLEAN, trustworthy, saferoom near the port, airport bus, etc. The neighborhood is pretty crummy, but hey, where in Naples isn't? Augusteo makes the mandatory night in Naples for Pompeii visitors not too bad at all.

"Great breakfast, even greater view"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 14, 2013
The rooms were clean, large, and bright. The all-marble bathroom provided bathrobes and slippers, a glass shower with excellent water pressure, and a bidet. The bed was an actual queen (not two twins pushed together). For Naples it was a quiet neighborhood and the thick glass windows blocked out most street noise. The breakfast provided was excellent. Pastries, breads, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, juices, coffees, teas, fresh fruit, eggs'n'bacon, and cereals. It was the best breakfast on our entire month long excursion through Italy. Breakfast is served on a terrace (in the summer and in the winter, a room with full glass sliding doors) overlooking Vesuvius, Santa Lucia, Chiaia, and Mergellina. The internet was fast and they didn't even require a pass code. Just log on. It is close to Piazza Amedeo metro station but things in Naples are never as easy as they seem. If walking from the station there are two ways. The first is a winding road Villa della Margherita but this is a lot of cobble stone and even more dog excrement. The other is better. Take Via Crispi just past the German consulate, then take a side road and a "fun" stair case. Then double back on Corso V.E. About 10 mins total. If you take the Cumana is any easier walk from the Corso VE station but not faster. If you don't mind spending the money, a taxi from either station should be fast and not too expensive. But it is Naples so watch out for taxi drivers trying to take advantage of tourists.
