The busy and colorful capital of India is an international center of art, culture, and business. From the sparkling high rise buildings to the more traditional built up streets, the city has many distinct districts with their own unique personalities. The boom in the number of clothing manufacturing companies has brought prosperity to many areas of New Delhi, with modern attractions and facilities popping up all the time. Potter the streets and follow the scent of pungent, punchy spices to food stalls and browse for goods in multi-colored markets which buzz day and night.

Things to see

The Kingdom of Dreams has the look of a grand royal estate with its pillars, domes, and intricate decorative details. However, step inside and you'll find a stylish and modern entertainment center with 2 large theaters, an indoor air-conditioned area that's set up to look like an Indian street with restaurants, food carts, bars, and arts and crafts, as well as live displays of dancing and themed entertainment everyday. A popular spot for shopping is the pedestrianized area of Nehru Place which has large concrete buildings with shops piled on top of other shops, endless colorful signs, and a lively and chaotic atmosphere where you can pick up plenty of bargains. Connaught Place is its more upmarket counterpart, and here you'll find lots of Western brands hosted in pristine white buildings and set around a large park. It's also the commercial center of New Delhi, and is famous for its many cinemas that show colorful Bollywood extravaganzas.

This area is full of major corporations, and you'll often see business people hurrying to their jobs during the day. At night there's a party atmosphere with decadently furnished bars and lively nightclubs serving the city's elite. South Delhi is much more traditional, with narrow winding streets full of locals zipping around on motorbikes. The area is full of colorful shops and tempting food stalls selling aromatic treats, and you can buy intricate jewelry, luxurious fabrics, and traditional items to take home.
