"This is a gem"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 19, 2013
We originally booked for 3 nights but extended to 5. The hotel is located at the end of a lane, Gang II the entrance to the lane is beside Sukma 6 this is handy to know because the hotel is new and drivers had trouble locating it. At the end of the lane is a three storey hotel with two rooms per floor, the hotel is ony one year old and backs onto a river, there is a 100 foot drop to the river and the setting is mature palms, bamboo and massive fruit trees, the squirells were a joy to watch playing and feeding in the trees. The hotel is in a very quiet residential location but very close to Ubud, a short walk. Has a great small pool. Our room had single beds plenty of hanging space, large fridge and large bathroom. The list of facilities for this hotel is incorrect, there are no kitchens in the room, pillow top beds, in room coffee machine etc and the hotel is going to rectify the listings, so make sure you confirm with the hotel. There are mosquitoes so come prepared, the general stores sell repellent cheaper than in Australia.
"Great hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 12, 2013
We stayed at Cendana for two nights on a trip to Ubud. It's very close to the Monkey Forest and the main attractions in downtown Ubud. The only drawback is that the noise from the surrounding bars makes it hard to sleep late at night.
"Beautiful grounds, Nice Staff"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 3, 2013
The girls who work here were fabulous, especially at the front desk. The rat of the staff were good too, but they picke the right ones to be out front. The grounds are lovely, breakfast was better than average for sure. The TV program could be better and the shower temperature was up and down
"Awesome place away from the busy streets of Ubud"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 28, 2013
We stayed in the Krishna room and it was AMAZING! The villa is located on a hillside and looks out over a forest and small valley. You do need to take a shuttle (which they provide at set times) to central Ubud, but we found this ideal as it was quiet and cleaner being away from the center. There is a great village just a 5min walk up the hill from the villa that provides you the local access and feel that we were looking for. The internet is ok - the wifi signal was great, but the connection can be slow (but that was the case that we found at every place we stayed throughout Bali). The service was great. The front desk was very helpful is helping guide us. The drivers and guides were extremely nice and helpful - one of them was even our guide on the mountain bike tour we signed up for with them (extra cost but competitively priced and highly recommended). Pool area is nice and also over looks the forrest with plenty of lounging area. Food was also very good - breakfast was included. The kitchen is right off the dining area (which is outside and has great views as well) and the kitchen is a like a home kitchen, so they are happy to accomodate requests. There is also a full restaurant across the valley (1min drive or 10min walk since it's uphill) and they will drive you there or deliver to your room. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a comfortable, quiet place close to Ubud.
"Nice pool, good service, perfect location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jan 2, 2013
Clean and beautiful hotel. Perfect location. But during the stay in around New year it might be too much for the staff. They forgot the towels and some details. They only have 10 hairdryers which was inconvenient for my girlfriend.

A world class hotel and location. Could not have been happier with our time spent at Kupu Kupu. Ayung River Villa #34 - the ultimate in romance, relaxation, beauty, privacy, and luxury.

"Relaxing and Beautiful"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Dec 11, 2012
The staff were very kind and accomodating. I injured my leg before my trip and they took time to ask how I was doing and bring me bags of ice to reduce the swelling - above and beyond! They called for us and arranged drivers and spa services. We loved it so much we stayed an extra day. Our room had a lovely view of rice fields and nice seating area/balcony.
"Close to the beach (5 min walk), ask for renovated"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Dec 7, 2012
Good location, friendly staff. Good breakfast, nice pool. The renovated standard room is so much better compared to the not renovated cottage (deluxe room). Both AC, but the bathroom is much nice, brighter and more light! Matresses not so great - but that depends on your back ;)
