Great hotel, staff and area. It was very peaceful and well maintained and the service was superb. One thing I'd improve is we were given a room with two smaller beds, not ideal for a honeymoon. Secondly, at the second pool overlooking the forest there's nowhere to sit except a table right next to the bar. With such a great view, it'd be nice to have a spot to relax by the pool. That said, the place was wonderful and I'd stay there again.

Spent 8 nights here and loved it! The room had some minor cosmetic fixes needed, but the view and the staff more than make up for it. The staff are amazing, kind, professional and thoughtful. Two stand outs are Nonik and Gusti. Everyone was pleasant but these two went the extra mile (miles) and made our stay very memorable. They recommended sites to see, took an interest in us and what we did each day. The view of the jungle is breathtaking! Expect geckos and lizards in your room at night. The spa was very relaxing, very affordable and a great experience. Highly recommend the reflexology service and any massage. The food was good, American continental breakfast has a good variety of options. Afternoon tea and snack was always a treat. The free shuttle to Ubud each day was well used and the drivers are great (make sure you get the schedule on day one). If you need a personal driver/guide for the day, have the Reception staff contact Royale; he is a very kind man and showed us stops we would not have found on our own. Amazing stay!

We stayed at the Sahadewa for 11 days.
Plusses - located reasonably close to major places one would want to go in Ubud. They also have a free shuttle in the morning/early afternoons to places within Ubud (a "taxi" would cost 30,000 Rupiah, or $3.50). Friendly staff that got to know our names and preferences. Easy walk to nearby ATM (essential in Bali) and convenience stores. WiFi is limited to main lobby area, but hey, you're on vacation. Room was clean, quite and comfortable.
Minuses - It is not a five star hotel, so you will find a few things that might bother you if you are hoping for one. It is on a busy road, but you don't hear the noise in your room. No WiFi in your room, if you must have it (plenty of restaurants have WiFi, by the way).
While in Ubud, we saw plenty of other places one could stay. Many are more conveniently located, but priced that way. Many are lower in cost, but you seem to get what you pay for (one place advertised that it had both hot and cold running water). We would stay there again.

The resort has a great location close to the center of Ubud. Free shuttles are available to take guests to Ubud and some nearby sightseeing locations.... would suggest renting a motorbike for more flexibility and convenience. Great views of the green rice fields and valley, in the midst of nature... good shopping at the Ubud market, good and reasonably priced Spas nearby, etc. The Garden villa we stayed in was spacious and very comfortable, with an old-house feel and an outdoor bathtub... Given the surroundings, we had to be on the lookout for lizards which can get pretty big in this part of the world... Room and Walkway lighting could be improved, it gets quite dark in the late evenings... Fair amount of steps to be negotiated to move around the resort.... Suggest packing Insect repellant cream, light clothes, walking shoes, Motorbike licence... Staff was very helpful with directions, loaning umbrellas and sarongs for temples, arranging Motorbike rentals etc... They can custom-prepare food to meet dietary requirements (vegetarian etc)... Recommended for physically fit adults, on a Romantic getaway, or Trekking adventure, for good Spas in natural settings, or just looking for a quiet holiday.

we fell in love with this hotel and it's setting the moment we arrived. the room was large and well cooled. there were no televisions in the rooms, so guests tend to gather at the pool and/or common areas and visit with other guests from all over the world. the staff is gracious and the buffet breakfast is fine. a truly wonderful place to spend a few wonderful days in Ubud.
