"Great Location, Friendly staff, clean hotel.."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 18, 2012
We were starting out our Greece vacation and so this was the first hotel we stayed in during our two week trip - the two of us - My wife and I.. The staff at the front-desk were extremely friendly and also helped us a lot with basic questions, where to eat, safety, sight seeing etc. etc. We had a very good time here and the room was decent sized and comfortable.. Now the breakfast ... GOOD .. VERY GOOD.. eggs, different breads, cereals, juices good coffee (Not greek, thank god) etc. etc. The wifi worked :) NNow about the locations - very well located in the heart of the city and close to the parliament and Syntagma square... Just stay a block away from the parliament if there are any protests :) Monastricki square with GREAT food and Taverna's open all night were walking distance and so was the Metro.. the only negative in this hotel was the size of the bathroom.. The shower was the tiniest I had seen in my life - however, the other hotels in greece were about this size also - so seems like a Greece/Europe thing ... but tiny tiny shower wasn't the best experience.. All in all we will stay here again - Highly recommend the place :)

"Attention to details needed"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Oct 13, 2012
Front desk staff were outstanding. The location is convenient, but there are people doing drugs in the nearby streets at night. There was no alarm clock. The instructions on the phone for, e.g., requesting a wake-up call, were in German. The shower was tiny, with a wrap around shower curtain that sticks to you as you shower, and that doesn't keep water from spraying on the bathroom floor. Street noise is a problem at night, so you want to keep the door to the balcony closed. With the door closed, the room was too hot and stuffy unless the a/c was turned on. The a/c had no external temperature control (it originally came with a remote, which was not available in the rooms), and it cooled the room too much. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Interior is dated but clean enough for the price.

"Rio Okay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 1, 2012
The Rio is older and in a not so great neighborhood, however, it was clean, inexpensive and very close to a Metro stop. The older gentleman at the desk during the day was great. He was very helpful. Breakfast was very good and you could eat outside in the sidewalk area. It was wonderful early in the morning. Overall I would rate it a good stay.
"It was a good experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 25, 2012
It was a good hotel considering the price. The neighborhood is the worst factor playing against this hotel. Overall I had a good experience.
"Perfect for Athens!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jun 29, 2012
At first people told me the hotel was great but not safe location. I have to say it is a great hotel with big rooms, friendly service, great pool with bar and just 3 blocks from the metro. I could could around Athens safely and enjoy my great room and the pool on the top! I will definily come back!
