"Great hotel in the downtown area"Reviewed by Clem G of "Waterville, ME, USA" on Mar 4, 2012
Great hotel, conveniently located within walking distance of the major shopping areas and cultural instituions (museum, convention center, library, etc). Because of the one way streets it is a bit tricky to get to but once there it is really great and they do have onsite parking (not always common in the UK). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast every morning was quite good. Rooms were modern and clean. I would definitely stay again the next time I'm in Birmingham

"Holiday Inn Express BHam Outstanding Value"Reviewed by Peter M of "Llandudno N,Wales" on Jan 14, 2012
We stayed for two nights before our holiday and three nights when we returned. The staff are the most polite, helpful and friendly we have ever came across. The family room was both clean and comfortable. We will be using this Hotel when we are in Bham again. Thank you to the reception staff and the young lady who was cleaning, for assisting my wife when she needed to see a Dr on the Sunday before we left. Thank you all for an enjoyable stay.

"Fabulous hotel!"Reviewed by Xan S of "Columbus, Ohio" on Aug 31, 2011
This hotel was great! very comfortable, very cool rooms (green mood lighting in the bathroom) and great conference/convention/ballrooms. the location is wonderful-very close to the bullring and the mailbox, and right around the corner from one of the oldest comic shops in Britain. It is also within walking distance of a few national rail stations. Staff was wonderful-we had a weird issue (days 1 and 2 were paid for by someone else, day 3 was paid for by me) and they accommodated us quite well, letting us stay in the same room even though we had 2 reservations. fantastic overall stay! my only complaint was that the room did not have a microwave, but that's just a preference, not really a complaint.

"Paragon Hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 2, 2011
It has really classic quality to it. Compared to most of the hotels you find in U.K , it really has the feeling of a real hotel. By that i mean you can tell it was intended for that propose. I really liked the hotel over all, plus they were in process of remodeling so I believe there will be a lot of improvements on the way that will make it better for the customer. One of the problems i had is that there was a frequent interruption of the internet services, which could be problematic if one is on a business trip. The location can be an issue because it is a bit out of the way, which could be an issue if you are not driving, but if you are driving they have their own parking lot which is a plus in Birmingham, UK. Over all, it was worth it because the rate off balanced some of its defects. Plus the people there are very helpful and really friendly.
"Absolutely Superb"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Aug 14, 2010
Great location, nice rooms clean and functionable, very safe for ladies who are having a celebrateory night out. Note Cheaper parking available just opposite the entrance to Mailbox instead of driving into the underground parking thats £18 per night carry on round under bridge to either parking actually under bridge £7 or the NCP parking multistory its really just accross the road
"cheap and cheerful :)"Reviewed by A Hollins of "Staffordshire" on Oct 8, 2009
stayed here after a night out for a friends birthday, the hotel was very basic, but for the price was fine. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. For somewhere to sleep on a budget its good, and a quick cab ride from broad street.
